I will be calling other dental offices next week to ask about this, but just wanted to know of other people's experience with crowns. I had two root canals over the past few weeks and now just need the crowns put on. Yesterday, I was in for a cleaning and exam just to be sure there was nothing else going on that needed attention first. My dentist told me that next week's crown prep appointment would consist of the imprints and the gum trimming!!!??? She said they had to "shave" off some of the gum for a correct fit. I have had one other root canal and crown and this was not something my old dentist did. My husband has had extensive dental work and said he's never had his gums trimmed for a crown. Has anyone had this experience?
