[New] Wishes Dessert Party at Tomorrowland Terrace

Having been a long-time WDW traveler, I knew for years that if you were going to sit in the Tomorrowland Terrace for the MK fireworks, you had better know exactly which tables offered a clear view.
And, BTW, those were very specific tables... and a very few.

When they first announced the high-priced "dessert parties" years ago, I protested that
they were putting them in a place of limited viewing.
Can you please share which position/ seats would offer a better view? :)

Please share, which are the best seats or conversely the best place to stand on Tomorrowland Terrace?

I did the "new" party in May, we had reservations and they were accepting same day walkups, though it didn't look like they had any takers. We were seated on the rail on the left of the terrace near the buffet, and this is optimal seating in my opinion. We were right at the first bend in the railing as the terrace starts to stick out, if you know what I mean. They originally tried to put else elsewhere but I asked if we could be farther to the center of the castle and they were happy to seat us there. We were the third or fourth family in line. It was a good view and very comfortable, no one stood which in my opinion made it much nicer than the previous dessert party set ups. May I have a picture, I will check my phone.

Thanks so much for sharing! Were you able to see celebrate the magic (more or less clearly from there)?

It takes a clear view of the front of the castle.

But, from the photo in post #25 above and from my map below, you can see that there
are some tree obstructions from many seats in Tomorrowland Terrace.

It doesn't do much good to say where as (in, by far, the most cases) Disney preassigns your seats, and that's where you'll sit.
The case of being able to be moved is unusual.

This is why I (and others) call the Tomorrowland Terrace Wishes Dessert Party prime seating as "false advertising."

I did the same-day, walk-up Desert Party Aug. 3. My family is five, we could only get 4 TT reservations, and I was prepared to not go. As I dropped off my family, the CM said that I could buy the same day reservation, just sit in a different spot (upstairs) and be escorted down to the Garden for fireworks viewing. In the end, the CMs working the party invited me to go down and join my family -- even made me a special cookie for my troubles.

They may have changed it, but they were still offering the same day reservations earlier this month. They don't advertise it much -- and I made 12 calls to dining trying to get the 5th reservation for the TT party with no one mentioning this as an option -- but as of early August, it was still an option. The CMS working it said it had been one all summer.

As for the tables, a lot of them are up against the rails, so you can't get squeezed in on. They have other areas that are designed for standing for people who don't get a great view from their tables. Unless they've changed it in the last month, most tables have unobstructed views, and the others are invited to stand if they'd like to. You can still see some stuff from the second row of tables, but not as much.

I totally agree, I begrudgingly bought it for our family a few years ago and thought it was a ripoff, and it was a lot cheaper back then. People would start standing by the railings very early, plus I was also disappointed with the view line. For the fireworks it was very good but for the castle display you miss a bunch at the bottom of the castle. Don't get me started with the parents putting their child on their shoulders:(

That hasn't been my experience at any of the three parties I've been at, but I guess we all have different stories. The TT desert parties have been the highlight of our last few MK nights -- one of the few things my kids always ask about -- and we think it's well worth the money. Never had any trouble with sightlines or people blocking our views, and certainly no kid son shoulders (which I surprised at, because the problem at TT is the ceiling, and getting higher would only limit visibility, not enhance it).

We've always been lucky - our party of two always got a table in the first row with a great view - IF people don't stand at the railing. I think we've done it three times - the first two I gave up and joined them at the rail (if you can't beat 'em, join 'em) and the third time we miraculously had no one stand in front of us.

Yes, the same day party i believe is in the plaza gardens, but you can also book in advance the Terrace Seating area; and they make it sound like you will actually be able to "relax" and enjoy Wishes while sitting. I have this booked [for now] for 10/1, the first night, and I'm just concerned we won't really be able to sit.

How was your experience on 10/1?

I feel like the real win to the party is getting to sit & relax for an hour before the show starts. With snacks & drinks to boot. If people stand at the rail for the show, which they often do, then we'll stand too. The difference is that we're only standing for the actual show. Almost everyone else who is viewing the show down below is also standing, but they had to stand for however long to stake out their spot. At the end of a long day on a long trip with aching feet, I'm only willing to stand for the actual show, not the stakeout.

Agreed. This is why a lot of the other parties that don't offer seating make no sense to me. But I had a hard enough time paying $26/pp to see that party in 2013 so $50+/pp is not happening.

We booked the Dessert party for Dec. 30 for the midnight (OK, 11:45) fireworks, which also happens to be my husband's birthday. At $70+ per person, my husband will be pretty heated if we get a table that becomes obstructed by people coming and standing in front of him for the fireworks (birthday or not!). My other option is a 10:15 Crystal Palace reservation, but that provides absolutely zero guarantee that we wouldn't walk out of the restaurant and have no place to watch the fireworks. I'd love someone's feedback on what you think our chances are of having a pretty good seat and a happy birthday boy if I keep my reservation. Also - will getting in line earlier provide me a better chance at getting a better table? What time would you suggest lining up for our reservation?

50-50 if you book the actual restaurant party.
100% good view if you book the "Plaza View" area party.
