October 2020 WISH Challenge - A Bunch of Hocus Pocus

I am doing so much better today. DH took the night shift so I got some sleep. I contacted her doctor today because I was worried about how much pain she has been in. She wasn't like this with the last surgery. By now we were tapering of the meds. This time we are still giving her the stronger pain meds. We were told that this is all still normal that we just got lucky with her pain last time. and that she would expect in the next couple of days to be able to taper off on the meds. I feel so much better.

I did get a call from my mom this morning with not great news but not bad either. She is not feeling good and has to have a COVID test before goin to work. She told me that she started to not feel good on Saturday but thought it was something that she ate. Then she continued to not feel great. I was over her house on Sunday to drop off a basket of candy. She insisted that DD and I come in. She is missing everyone and wants to show off her new house. We did all wear a mask and I was only in the house for about 15 minutes. I am just upset that she knew she didn't feel good and still had us come in. I am also mad that I didn't stick to my guns and just drop the basket off on her porch and talk to her from afar outside. She gets her test tomorrow. She is not allowed back at school until she get the results and they are negative. So she is teaching her kids (some in school and some remote) from home off of her hotspot because they don't have their internet hooked up yet. I will be working from home this week just in case. I only go in on Thursday so not a big deal. I really hope it comes back negative.

Woohoo...

... today is the last day of spices in the cleanse, at least it is for me. If you do the full cycle you stop using them during the main part of the cleanse then go back to them post cleanse, but there's no way I'm doing more days. Even today is going to be a challenge. And woohoo I dropped 10 pounds while on it, altho I know a couple of those pounds will come back when I start to eat.

... yesterday was a long 12 hour work day, but we got her done and overall things went smoothly, very smoothly. But it almost broke me, today I really need a calm day and to be left alone.

... Disney published spring discount packages and this morning I was able to update my March trip and save $750.00. Phew... that high price tag was really bothering me, so I'm feeling better now. I have hoppers, so if that is not in place by March I'll get some $$$ back there as well, but it will be strange not to hop. I normally spend most evenings at EPCOT and with being at POP it would be so easy to hop on the gondolas to get there.

I am woohoo that DD is doing better today. So far no stronger meds.

I did just hear from my mom. She found out yesterday a parent of a student in her class tested positive and today that student tested positive. The student was in school last week on Monday and Wednesday. She is feeling pretty lousy today. She already had her test taken earlier today. She will know the results in 24 to 48 hours. I am crossing my fingers.

Good news about your daughter... holding you and your Mom in my heart.

That is beautiful. I haven’t heard of thankful pumpkins either! But I love it! I’m thankful for my family & friends, coworkers, students, supportive and appreciative parents of my students, my car, my school laptop, wifi, my phone, Google calendar with family share, recently remodeled kitchen that flows better and is more open, new school building, my comfortable bed, my little nephew’s laughter, chocolate, sunshine, Clorox wipes, Lysol, hand sanitizer and so much more!!!

I am thankful that my moms test came back negative. She is still not feeling great but it seems to be just a cold. I am also thankful that DD is doing great. She has turned the corner. She was able to put the boot on last night and walk with her whole foot with still using crutches. Today we are looking to push back some on the meds. Instead of every 3 hours we will go to every 4 hours. If this goes good today we will stop the Tylenol tomorrow and go from there.

So happy to hear your Mom just has a cold and DD is making such good progress.

My thankful words... co-workers (who have helped me keep it together the past two weeks), family, health, kittens (and kitten snuggles), home, car, ferry boats, sunshine, clouds (but not necessarily the ones that just make a thick cloud cover and turn everything grey), my body, the neighborhood pie bakery (my Niece still doesn't want us to cook for Thanksgiving, so I'm buying a pie and theirs are really good).

We were asked to send in pictures of working from home for 'half-time' in an upcoming all-team meeting... here's mine.

I'm thankful for - a sunny day, kitten pictures, and tomorrow being Friday!

PS - I wasn't able to find the old pictures I mentioned, but what I was talking about looked basically like this internet photo :

except that we each (family gathering at MIL's) wrote something we were thankful for on one of the strips (I had precut them). Then I put them together using brads to make a pumpkin like the one in the picture.

I remember making those as a kid! Putting thankfulls on the strips is a great idea, would be wonderful for Thanksgiving.

I'm thankful twin2 had a good night's sleep. That means the entire house did, too! :crutches:He was in a really happy mood today and told me that "when I press on where the bump in my leg was it doesn't hurt!" Stop pressing!!!!

I'm thankful twins will be away this weekend. I'm not thankful they'll be with dad. Twin1 "I wonder what time we'll go to bed? Last time it was 10:00 and 3:00." Makes ya wanna cry.

I'm thankful I'm working from home tomorrow. Love a quiet house.

It’s been a cloudy week weather wise and it’s definitely effected my mood. And it didn’t help that at one point on Monday, I thought it was Friday. So a very long, cloudy week. At school we started small groups, which isn’t easy with social distancing. So many needs in my class. And because of the pandemic, they were unable to re-evaluate early intervention kids. So I’m constantly having to fill out rating scales and give teacher input for my 7 kids going through re-evaluations for their IEPs. I have 8 adults (instructional aides and reading specialists) pushing in or pulling groups to the hall or their rooms. I also have speech, OT, guidance, PT and APE working with some of my kids. So there are just so many people helping my kids...which is wonderful. But it’s also very overwhelming. And I have one kid who refuses to walk into school. Of course my room is one of the farthest from the main entrance too. And I’m still adjusting to having kids come in and eat breakfast in the classroom. I wish breakfast kids could come in early...

@MickeyMom76 hang in there - it sounds overwhelming!

I have also been feeling a bit up and down this week - but it has been a pretty good week work wise. I am starting to feel useful again and am trying really hard to get reports done within the first couple of days after my visits, so that I can stay on top of things. This means I am getting used to scheduling my time differently and to have realistic expectations of my time.

Friday night already for me - This has been a better week with a slip of take-out for lunch today - but otherwise this week meals have been homemade - the only other thing I need to get better at is snacking :(

I am so ready for the weekend. I am taking a half day today so I will be done at 11. DH and I need to renew our license that actually expired back in July. We know they are not going to extend the time again so we just need to get them done.

This week was rough all around. It has been very raining and gloomy which has not been helping me. I have been exhausted with getting up at night and eating horrible this week. DD has definitely turned the corner with pain. Yesterday we pushed back her meds some and started to give her meds every 4 hours instead of every 3. This meant I only had to get up once last night. We did take some of the bandage off yesterday. There is steri-strips and medical tape over the wound, then gauze the wrapped with cotton and then an ace bandage. We left the steri-strips and medical tape and took the rest off. She will still wear the ace bandage to protect the area though. With doing this she was able for the first time since the end of July the beginning of August was able to put her foot flat on the ground without it hurting. This weekend we will work to stop all the meds. We would start that today but we will be gone for a good bit of time and don't want her to have pain while we are gone. She also doesn't want to start it at night because she doesn't want to wake up with pain. I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
