Odd things your Dad said many years ago

My dad was never one to have savings. He always said that having stocks or savings didn't mean much because, "money isn't money until you spend it". I think about that philosophy from time to time. It wasn't one I adopted or taught to my own kids.

If we referred to my Mom as "she" when talking to him, he'd always say, "She's the *cat's* mother," which was our cue to start over and call her 'Mom.' I think he meant it for us to show respect to her by not saying, 'she' instead of 'Mom.'

But my Dad was strange. *shrug*

The first one that comes to mind is, “Wish in one hand, [poop] in the other, see which one fills up first.”

Though, he didn’t say “poop.”

And I hated Ross too. He was so whiny.

When I was in my late teens and early 20s my Dad would tell (caution) me , “There’s no place worth being after midnight.” I’ve found those words to be quite accurate.

I adored my parents and miss them terribly.

I don't know, if it's odd, but one saying my Dad had was, "If you can't form a sentence without cursing, you need to buy a dictionary." That stuck with me. I won't tolerate my DH or DS cursing in front of me & can't stand being around people who curse on a regular basis.

My dad was a licensed electrician and all around handyman.

To be fair to him, he made it to his 70s before cutting the tip of his finger off.
