Yay congrats on your trip I have added it to the roll call :thumbsup2

Also with your Epcot date you're going to be there when FOTA is on exciting :cool1: enjoy your Disney trip :earboy2:

For those who might be interested, they just announced dates in January for the return of Disney After Hours. https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/events-tours/magic-kingdom/disney-after-hours/
I'm super excited about this. I was looking at maybe doing the Pirates and Pals fireworks cruise but after seeing this, I managed to convince my hubby that this would be amazing to attend and he agreed! :yay: When we went to Disney last November, our last day had extra magic hours and the park was open until midnight I think. We had SOOOO much fun staying late with our girls and riding the rides late at night so we were a little sad when we saw the park closed at 8:00pm on our last day this trip. With the Disney after hours, that will add 3 more hours of fun! So we now have tickets for January 30th!!!....This will be such a great finish to our Disney vacation. :)

We just booked Disney After Hours for January 30! It meant I had to rearrange park days and drop a BOG dinner reservation, but I'm super excited! I'm hoping that they haven't increased the number of tickets sold to this event. I'm looking forward to an empty park.

I'm so excited for this. I can't wait for more details and if there will be expanded booths.

Definitely as everything last year looked amazing (I do love me some specialist food and drink) and if they build on that it's going to be great :thumbsup2

Oooh the Festival of the art dates have been released 12 Jan to 19th Feb and it's going to be on 7 days a week.

Have to say super excited

I was not expecting that to start while we were there........ Now I have to figure out if I should switch our days around or not. 1/12 is my daughter's bday and our last day so I was thinking MK but I also want to check out the new festival... :scratchin

Ohh dilemma, but being confused about what you do with you Disney days is a fun dilemma to have (bit better than your average day to day dilemmas lol)

I'm hoping that they do a preview and let us know, a bit of time in advance, what if anything extra they are adding on last year.

Or even, if anything that was there last year isn't going to be here this time round. As this might help with people planning.

Well good luck with whatever you decide, as any decision is going to be great as you'll either be in MK or Epcot :thumbsup2

I just booked POP for Jan 28-Feb 2. We haven't told the kids yet (18, 16, and 7) and we were thinking of not telling them until Christmas. I know Disney after Dark is going on while we are there and we were thinking of getting tickets for the two older boys to go to that by themselves. What other extra things are going on while we are there? Thanks.

Yay that will be a great Christmas surprise how exciting :santa:

I have added your fun trip to the roll call.

Also with other stuff to do, the after hours does sound like fun, currently seeing if me and DH can sneak away if the inlaws Babysit to attend.

Disney has just released their dates of the Festival of Arts and that will definitely be on when you're there.

So good luck with your planning and I hope you have a fantastic holiday :thumbsup2

The Festival of Arts IS going on while we are there. I had originally read the dates wrong. That will be fun. I am secretly hoping there will be a Star Wars night when we are there. That is one of my boys' favorites.

Thanks for the welcome. :)

Didn't take long, I sent the link to DD and she definitely wants to check it out so time to play 'rearrange all the plans' (which is actually a pretty fun way to spend my toddler's naptime lol)

Girls only trip January 18-23!!! Just my mom, my mother in law, my sister in law, and I! Staying at Poly and we have our Disney After Hours tickets all ready to go! Oh, and we'll be there for my 38th birthday on January 22nd!!! I haven't stayed at Poly since 1984 so this will be a great treat!

Hi all! Officially headed to Disney in January (1st - 6th)! Because of a school construction project, our district has an extra week off at the holidays this year - a family friend and I were talking about it and thought - what is better to do with an extra week off then head to Disney?! We both (and our kids) are huge Disney fans, but we've never taken a trip together...it is sure to be an adventure!

We are both giving the kids the trip to Disney as a Christmas present (so a surprise!), but it will really be two surprises - one Christmas morning and then again when they see each other at the airport (they won't see each other between Christmas and January 1st). They are going to LOSE THEIR MINDS! My DD is an only-child, so being at Disney with some kids her age will be a first. We joked that we better call ahead and warn the airport that there could be a lot of squealing from those kids when they see each other.

For Christmas morning I already know I'm going to get DD a suitcase and pack it with stuff for the trip as her present. I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas about how we should go about surprising the kids at the airport with the news that we are going together? We are definitely going to video their reactions!

I'm also preparing myself for the crowds - I think we have good touring plans - but anyone else have advice for that time of year that is different than other times (e.g. I know rope drop and use FP+ effectively - but anything else you would suggest)? Thanks!!
