Day 2
Tuesday 26 February

We had decided last night not to do EMH so had a later than normal start but still made it into Salon Mickey for our breakfast by 9:15.

I forgot to say that yesterday when we were entering the parks we had to show our room Magic Passes because our AP's have blackout days this week. I should have realised this would mean the parks would be busier but it was the only dates that suited us so couldn’t really be avoided. We noticed that the CM’s were mixed in how they dealt with this, some not realising and others being very strict about the names on the Magic Pass and the Annual Pass. The second person booked into the room just shows as ‘adulte’ on the magic pass so there’s actually no way of checking the validity of this really.

Anyway, when we got into Salon Mickey the CM there said he couldn’t validate our passes because of this and that when we were finished we’d have to go in through the main turnstyle and not the Salon Mickey door..

We enjoyed a peaceful breakfast of muffins and hot chocolate in a completely empty Salon Mickey :flower1:

By the time we were leaving there was a different CM at the desk and she said she’d been able to validate our passes ok so let us exit through the other door and into the park.

It was another beautiful day and the park was already busy.

P1010765 (640x480).jpg

The Omnibus was pulling up to its stop in front of the dentist so we hopped aboard and I was so happy to manage to get to the front of the top deck.

P1010766 (640x480).jpg P1010768 (640x480).jpg P1010769 (640x480).jpg

What a lovely view it is here on the way down Main St to the castle. We hopped off at our stop and I completely forgot to take a photo of the bus.

P1010772 (480x640).jpg P1010773 (640x480).jpg

We headed into Frontierland and watched the Molly Brown on our way to pick up Big Thunder Mountain fast passes. The queue was already showing a wait time of 70 minutes!

P1010774 (640x480).jpg

When I tried to scan my AP I kept getting a ticket back saying 'invalid'. DH's ticket worked fine so I can only assume something didn't scan correctly on my ticket whilst we were in Salon Mickey. I've had this happen before at the BTM fast pass machines and the CM at that time had said that it happens often with AP's and that it would be ok to use it. There wasn't anyone around to ask this morning so we just headed off towards Pirates.

Pirates was showing a 5 minute wait so we headed inside.

P1010775 (640x480).jpg

We took the right hand lane at the turnstyle and it was actually a walk on. So many people head to the furthest away queue but in my experience (unless it's absolutely mobbed) it's always quicker using the first turnstyle.

P1010776 (480x640).jpg

It was great to be back on this and the effects were all working fantastically. The swinging pirate was swinging and we got absolutely soaked after the first drop which I don't think we've ever experienced. Sometimes the person on the left hand side can get a wee bit wet from the water lapping into the boat but this time there was a much bigger than usual cannon scene and honestly the water was dripping down my face, lol. It was so funny.

We wandered into Fantasyland where it was very, very busy. Lots of queues for everything, including Alice's Maze. I love the area around the Teacups, so pretty.

P1010777 (640x480).jpg

We headed towards the Storyboats but they weren't up and running yet. Think it was about 10:45 by now. We decided to take a wee trip on Small World as we've not done it for a while. Just as we were entering the clock chimed and we watched the dolls come out and do their wee dance, lol.

P1010780 (640x480).jpg

My traditional Small World photo.....

P1010783 (640x480).jpg

After this we headed back over to the Storyboats. I really like this sign.

P1010786 (480x640).jpg

There was no wait and soon we were enjoying the sunshine, music and lovely fairytale scenes

We strolled back past Small World and wanted to go to Discoveryland. The back way was gated off, I think the Princess and Pirates parade was due to start so we headed in the main entrance. I noticed this massive scaffolding at Autopia. I wonder what kind of renovations they're doing here?

P1010794 (640x480).jpg

Buzz was busy and we didn't want to wait so made our way to see if Mickey's Philharmagic was showing.

Some photos on the way

We didn't wait long for the show and enjoyed this again having seen it for the first time in October.

It was almost time for our fast pass for Big Thunder Mountain. We got there a wee bit early and I spoke to the CM to check that they'd accept my invalid ticket and he said it was fine, but we had to wait for the correct time. This was fine and expected as they mostly keep to time. Today there were loads of people waiting and the queue was really long, almost down the stairs of the fast pass line. We waited our 4 minutes, lol and then joined the queue. It moved quickly enough and soon we were enjoying the wildest ride in the wilderness!

P1010801 (640x480).jpg

It was really fantastic. I think this has to be my favourite ride in the park, just love it.

Hungry now, it was time for lunch. We agreed on Hakuna Matata in Adventureland.

P1010802 (640x480).jpg

We shared the chicken strips and waffle fries meal, which came with a drink and Magnum ice-cream. Always enjoy our food here, it's nice and hot and so filling. We've had a meal each before and always said afterwards that it was too much for one. I think it was 14.99.

P1010803 (640x480).jpg

Filled up we left here and made our way to Main St passing the castle.

P1010804 (480x640).jpg

P1010805 (640x480).jpg

The sun was so bright.

We wandered Main St and spent a bit of time shopping.

P1010808 (480x640).jpg

Our daughter had asked me to look at the new Spirit jumpers that we'd seen on Twitter a few days before so there was lots of facetime going on, would it be the black one or the rose gold? And what size? Decisions, decisions...... We didn't buy for now and said we'd speak to her later on as there were plenty around the resort. We did buy some stuff though I can't actually remember what.....

The Omnibus was back in front of the dentist so I remembered to take a photo.

P1010809 (640x480).jpg

Some pictures from the Bandstand

We'd spoken about going to the shopping village at Marne la Valle this afternoon so decided to head back to the hotel to drop our shopping off and decide what to do.

Off we went through the very conveniently located entrance to the hotel......seconds from the exit turnstyle

P1010814 (640x480).jpg

Our room had a card advertising La Valle Village outlet and said that the concierge could arrange transport so I gave them a call from our room. They were so helpful and explained that the shuttle service is available on request and costs 6E return per adult. She gave the driver a call whilst I was on the line and said that he'd be able to pick us up in 20 minutes which suited us fine. I asked if we could use card to pay him and she said not, had to be cash.

We'd used our Revolut card (which I highly recommend) the whole stay so we made a dash back into the park to use the cash machine inside Discovery Arcade. I think it was the closest one to where we were. Back into the hotel and the driver was waiting for us. We had a stop off at the Newport Bay Club to pick up some other people and were at the shops in about 5 minutes.

There's a welcome centre there with a map of the shops. If you're a shareholder (or were...) you can go in here and show your card to get a booklet with some vouchers for 10% off at whatever shops you want. A good wee perk.

I don't have any photos of being here at all. DH got some sunglasses and we got the shareholder discount no problem. It was a lovely place for a stroll. If you walk the whole way through the village, the main shopping centre is just across the road, with a supermarket inside. We did go in but quickly agreed there was nothing we wanted so headed back to the village.

The driver had told us that when we wanted collected to speak to the desk where he'd dropped us off. As we got there he was dropping some others off so we hopped inside and were soon back at the Disneyland Hotel.

I know we could have used the train but honestly for the price I think the shuttle service was really easy and convenient to use.

The sun was still shining so we made our way over the the Studios to see if we could catch the Mickey and the Magician show.

P1010818 (640x480).jpg

P1010819 (640x480).jpg

Still very busy we headed towards Ratatoullie

P1010820 (640x480).jpg

We went into the single rider line, but it was about halfway back to the door.....too long for us so we left and had a wander around. We had a mooch around the shops and then enjoyed watching the band play for a while.

P1010826 (640x480).jpg

A tad hungry and in need of a drink we didn't want to eat too much as we had a Steakhouse reservation for later, so we looked around for some ice-cream. We didn't find anywhere so made our way to the Blockbuster Cafe.

I enjoyed an ice-lolly of some kind and DH got a drink. We sat in the sun outside and it was so hot. Honestly it really felt like a summer trip, I could not believe how warm it was.

P1010831 (640x480).jpg

As we left here we almost bumped into these guys......

P1010832 (640x480).jpg P1010833 (640x480).jpg

Then it was time for Mickey and the Magician. I think this show is so well done, love the songs, performances and everything about it. I'd love it if they made this permanent instead of seasonal.

P1010836 (640x480).jpg

After this we thought we'd check out Ratatoullie again. This time the single rider was showing 10 minutes but it was actually a walk on. Great again.

P1010837 (640x480).jpg

We had a mooch around the still very busy park

P1010839 (480x640).jpg

I really hope they keep this after the changes to the Art of Animation area

P1010840 (640x480).jpg

I asked DH if he wanted to do Tower of Terror but he wasn't bothered so we made our way out of the park.

Off into the Village we spent some time in World of Disney.

P1010845 (640x480).jpg

We were going to get a few things but we'd missed the cut off time for getting the stuff sent back to our hotel so just decided not to buy just now and do our shopping later.

We strolled down to the lake and the balloon looked great even though it was swaying about a bit..

P1010847 (480x640).jpg

Can't wait to see the refurb at the Hotel New York

P1010848 (640x480).jpg

We'd booked The Steakhouse for 7pm. It was only about 6pm now but we were really hungry and they said it was fine to come in now. It wasn't very busy inside.

We chose from the 'Gold Coast Menu' and asked for a different starter which was fine. I'll put a full review on the restaurant thread with some more detail.

Caeser Salad

P1010849 (640x480).jpg

Angus Beef Sirloin - I like mine well, well done, lol

P1010850 (640x480).jpg

Strawberry Sundae, delicious

P1010851 (640x480).jpg

DH's trusty vanilla ice-cream

P1010852 (640x480).jpg

We had a really love meal in here again.

We strolled back through the village and did some shopping on the way. Soon we were back at the Disneyland Hotel. I love the lobby.

P1010855 (640x480).jpg P1010856 (480x640).jpg

And upstairs to the shop. The window decorations are always so nicely done.

We picked up some snacks in the shop and headed back to our room. Absolutely exhausted, we spoke to the kids to see how they were doing and then watched a film on the ipad. It had been a lovely day but I was glad to put my feet up and enjoy the rest.

Last couple of hours tomorrow morning for our last day, so we agreed we'd try for EMH and were soon sound asleep.

What a lovely day you had! It was so nice and sunny and everything looked great! Your meals at the Steakhouse look delish! I am trying to decide where to make reservations, so I will keep that one in mind!

It was so sunny :beach:

I think that's the third time we've been at the steakhouse and it's always been good. I don't know why it took us so long to try it!
