People getting trashed in the parks

I’ve never seen anyone “trashed” in any Disney park. Tipsy maybe, talking a bit too loud, slightly obnoxious perhaps. But never anything that has a negative impact on my experience

I’m sure it happens. It almost has to with so many people. A few will behave badly. But I don’t understand how this can be such a frequent topic.

Maybe it’s because I only visit in the summer. Never during Epcot festivals or major holidays.

I think to some people that is trashed. Not to me, certainly. 😜

I find that problematic drinking is pretty isolated and not that common really. I'm sure it happens, and one can find themselves in the middle of a concentration of it, but it's never really happened to me. I've seen a few people "fun drunk" so to speak, but that's about it. I found the vibe at F&W much friendlier than that of Star Wars land at night, as the somewhat rambunctious Star Wars fans were making things a little tense. I went back to Epcot during the last night of F&W and found it much more pleasant - and I don't even drink.

Well then by some people's standards I got "trashed" Friday at Tony's 🤣.

I mean not obnoxious, but definitely tipsy. I got 4 prosecco's but didn't finish the last one because I'm a clumsy oaf even when sober and spilled the remaining half I hadn't consumed. I made the responsible decision not to get another because that would have IMO been too much (I wouldn't have been too far gone BUT I didn't want to go further either).

It wasn't the young man's fault. He was overdosing on Disney "Magic". It's powerful stuff.

I guess it all depends but I'd say someone being too loud and obnoxious could definitely have a negative impact on other guests. That's not "tipsy" in my book. Tipsy folks aren't yelling, cursing, banging into people, or throwing up on the sidewalk.

I do enjoy adult beverages, but usually not at Disney Parks. Once we return from a long park day and my kids are showered and in PJs, my husband and I will enjoy an ice cold corona by the pool at our rental. :-) Sometimes when we return to Epcot at night after leaving midday, we will enjoy a nice glass of prosecco from Italy while we watch the show. That's about it.

A couple summers ago, my four girls were meeting Snow White at Epcot. It was early evening- maybe 5pm. There was a long line behind my girls as they went for their turn with Snow White. It started out sweet and she was lovely to my girls. Suddenly, five drunken 20-something girls in matching t-shirts were walking by and spotted her. They immediately started shrieking her name, pushed past the rope for hugs and gushing over how much they loved her.

Security guards I didn't even know existed materialized out of nowhere and escorted them away. Everyone in line was staring at them and they just laughed back at all of us. It was truly embarrassing. I think the most offensive thing to me was not that they were drunk (because I really could care less how people spend their vacations), but how little they cared about the experience of those around them. Have drinks, sure. But be respectful to others, or at least have the sense to stop drinking when you know you won't be able to be respectful anymore. My girls' kindergarten teacher goes to Disney each year for F&W and has the matching shirts, etc. She is lovely and absolutely enjoys drinking around Epcot without being a jerk. She always shows me her trip pictures and which shirt they selected for that trip. I have no problem with those vacations. But I do when people are completely ignorant and legless drunk.

We have 5 kids and vacationing to Disney is expensive and takes a lot of planning and effort. To march up during a character meet and greet and spoil the moment for a 4-9 year old group of girls was the unforgivable part. Snow White had to break character for a moment because it was such a distressing invasion of her personal space and my girls totally noticed it. The magic of the moment was gone, and now two years later it's still the character experience they remember most, thanks to these silly girls who can't hold their drink.

Ok, rant over. Basically, I have no problem with Disney Park drinking. But I do if you are a loser about it. :-)

We drove down to DS last Saturday evening (not technically night) and couldn't wait to get out due to your aforementioned reasons.

Same for us. I love what Disney has done with the place. Don't love the behavior of a lot of the people that frequent DS. We tried to give it another shot and we saw Frozen 2 there on opening night, and its just reaffirmed my feelings. It was Friday so its a little expected but its not what I bring my family to Disney for.

Its definitely a different vibe on the weekdays.

Yeah, that kid isn't drunk.

We were at DHS around New Year's holiday last year and sitting in front of the Chinese theatre with the usual throng of folks watching the pre-game animated show prior to the 8pm Star Wars fireworks. Two adults (probably in their 40s) decided to stand up, blocking the view of everyone sitting behind. There were some calls for them to sit down, which they ignored, until another guest came up to them and loudly asked them to sit down. The two standing picked up their drinks and walked off, but not before extending the middle finger for everyone to "enjoy." As you can guess, about half of the audience was children. It's worth noting that, 10 mins later, everyone was standing, once the SW fireworks show began.

Perhaps they would have acted differently sober. It didn't appear as though they had trouble getting around.

That doesn’t sound like drunkenness, that sounds like ignorance. While we’re on the topic, take my advice and don’t wander AK drunk during after hours events. Tripped over a giant rock in Pandora because it was so dark last time I did that lol those things come out of nowhere.

Oh my gosh yes! We were there is September during food and wine and there were high schoolers getting served at some of the booths. And the only reason I know that is because when they collected their adult beverages they practically announced to everyone that they were underage. Disney wasn't carding anyone. DH watched someone who was completely trashed at noon stumble into a merchandise cart and completely wipe out. And then we were sitting in Germany waiting for Illuminations to start and these college students (they could have been older but they didn't look it) with one drink in each hand come running to the rail by the lake with one girl screaming how she had to puke and guys start screaming "just do it in the bushes!" So she did. And then ran off and went back to drinking her beers. And then I went to find the nearest cast member to tell them about the vomit. I can't blame Disney for how people behave but I can blame them for not carding anyone and enabling this sort of thing to happen.
