Pluses and Minuses of your DVC Resort?

Great info everyone! There's an awful lot to consider when finding the right resort. What I've noticed is that the PROS far outweigh the CONS at each resort. A lot of Happy people.

BLT
Pros:
location
extra full bath in 1br and 2br
great, open views (we've gotten castle/fireworks views from standard rooms)
TOTWL
California Grill (2nd favorite restaurant on WDW property)
The Wave (esp breakfast)
very quiet and peaceful (no amenities other than villas = quiet DVC side)
DVC pool
still easier to resort hop by walking to MK bus station, even though you have to go through security now
walking to MK with dedicated security line where there's almost never a wait
standard rooms are the cheapest in the MK area

Cons:
slow monorail to EP
long/difficult access to monorail in Contemporary building
Elevators in Contemporary are often full
Chef Mickeys
Contempo Cafe
studios are small if you have 3 or more people

VGF
Pros:
large and pretty rooms with good layout (split bath in studio)
theming/decor
separate, smaller DVC building = more peaceful
feature pool near DVC building is convenient and fun
pretty beach with great views
all rooms except 1221 (studio) have great views
water and coffee in boutique-y lobby
main lobby is fun
holiday decorations (Christmas and Easter)
restaurants - love them all, including the QS
V&A (our favorite restaurant on WDW property)
shops
easy access to monorail
coming soon: walkway
walkable to Poly

Cons:
costs a lot of points to stay
is due for a soft goods refurb

RIV
will let you know in early 2020

SSR
I love walking around, it is so peaceful.
Easy walk to DS. We go during slow times when the parks close early.
Easy to get to other hotels from DS.

Cons
Busses everywhere. Lots of stops.

AKL
Gorgeous lobby
Sitting on the balcony, drinking coffee and watching the animals in the morning.

Cons
Wish that Kidani rooms were in Jambo house.
Busses everywhere

BLT
Location, location, location
Second bathroom
TOWL

Cons
Sharing busses with other resorts to DS, AKL and DS.

Okw
Pro: rooms are huge
Point costs low
Parking near
Boat to disney springs

Con:
No real quick service
Bus to parks

When talking about rooms, I am referring to studios

BRV

Pros
  • Beautiful Grounds
  • Geyser Point is a great spot for a night cap and electric water pageant
  • Really nice sized quite pool and hot tub
  • Same point charts as CCV without the cabins, and lower dues
  • Main pool is very scenic
  • Lobby and ground are among the best if not the best at Christmas time
Cons
  • Rooms are small and in much need of a refurb (coming next year), but the rooms will still be small, particularly the bathrooms (at least on the Studios)
  • Main pool is kind of small for the size of the villas and the main hotel
  • Only (somewhat) easy access to one park.
  • Same points as CCV but with rooms that are not as nice.
  • Views are ehhhh.
VGF

Pros
  • Very nice rooms and the split bathrooms are great. (I think it justifies, at least in part, the point hunger of the rooms)
  • Villas have their own check in facilities that are usually very quiet.
  • Even the non lack view views tend to be pretty decent (a monorail view can be fun)
  • Location. Gasparillas for fireworks, walk to the Poly and its offerings.
  • Great Christmas decor
  • A lot of food options
  • Low dues
  • Upcoming walkway to MK
Cons
  • Point Hungry
  • Can be hard to get the room you want at certain times of year even at 11 months (I gave up trying for December)
  • Main lobby can get to be very crowded.
  • IMO, for the "Flagship" resort the pools are lacking.
  • Can be hard to get on the monorail being the last stop before MK
