POLL QUESTION: What should the next major attraction at DCA be?

The rumour mill is spinning fast and furious already on what phase 2 will look like and when it will occur. For instance, here's a quick link to a recent posting on the rumour board from Irodk: ThrillRide.com DCA rumours
So what is your opinion? What should they put in first?

The next attraction at DCA will be Armageddon!!! I have spoken to the people that make the magic at the place where they do it and not only did they tell a large group of us that they showed us on a 3D map where it would be and what it would look like. They have the area clear and it will be ready by next summer. It will be going inbetween Superstar Limo and Muppets and it will be a Backdraft type show.

Send Help....umm and Pins,

You'll note mr_good that my question was what SHOULD it be, not what will it be. I suspect you are right on that count from all I hear. And while the description of the attraction sounds interesting, I can't quite figure out how a bomb of a movie with no Disney connection makes sense as an attraction at DCA. For my part, I think ToT makes a lot of sense...it's Hollywood after all. Plus, some of the enhancement ideas I've heard discussed sound great. As is, it's one of the best attractions in Orlando. But on the other hand, having visited DCA, I really think they need to make it more kid friendly, especially in the Bountiful Harvest area...Bug notwithstanding.

Umm, Bert, Armageddon was made by Touchstone which is owned by Disney. Also, I wouldn't call it a "bomb" considering it is #33 on the list of the top 50 movies of all time at the U.S. box office, with $201,578,182. But hey, you might still be right about the attraction, I won't judge 'til it opens and I ride it though. Now, could you help me in connecting Twilight Zone to Disney??

You are right. I let my personal response to these attractions sway my opinion. (Not that I'm saying that isn't valid in its own right when it comes to these sorts of things. I happen to really like ToT.)
I saw Armageddon and thought it was a confused mess, and didn't measure up to the other Asteroid movie that year, Deep Impact.
I should have realized it was a Touchstone movie. So I'll concede the point and wait and see what they do with it.
As to ToT, I can't think of any Disney connection at all...of course that holds true for the majority of attractions at DCA. But it does have a great California connection in that the storyline is pure classic era Hollywood.

But back to the original question: In the grander scheme of what it might take to really kick DCA into high gear and generate repeat business, IMHO, they should put in more little kid friendly attractions.

I didn't mean to slam you if I came off that way I'm sorry, just wanted to know your thoughts behind your comments. I personally agree about ToT. I am a local to DL and I would spend the money to stay at the hotel, very cool!

I also agree about kids rides...on another thread I was discussing what type of kids rides should be put in though. There are rumors that a "dumbo-like" spinning ride for kids with an Ursula theme will be one of the first to break ground. I expressed my frustration in Disney's recent trend to take the "spinning" ride, add a new theme to it and call it a new kids attraction as is being done at WDW's Adventureland as well as Animal Kingdom.

As for DCA, I think the Imagineers should come up with a few new rides/attractions for kids. I heard John Lasseter, Director of Toy Story and others, was talking about working with Disney to create some sort of attraction for kids based on his next computer animated feature, "Monsters Inc." but his description sounded more like a haunted house/dark ride...not too good for kids.

I know myself, along with kids I am sure, would like to see some sort of interactive ride. Maybe something like Buzzlightyear's Space Ranger Spin but with a different theme. It's slow moving, not intimidating, not a huge height requirement, and the kids get to do something. I really wish they would have made Superstar Limo into some sort of game while you ride.
