Pop Century Room Renovations

what are the chances of getting a preferred room if I didn't pay for one? (none were available when I booked) also I have a preferred room for my last day that I added on a couple months ago. I of course want to stay in the same room, want a refurbished room and to be close to the food court main building. What should I ask for? I have Touring plans and plan to use that for the fax room request.

I always book standard because my family is so large and I'm forced to get two rooms, and I need the savings. I've stayed at Disney about 10 times, and I've never asked to be upgraded - just made building or section requests (which often get ignored). One trip though, I was upgraded at POP because I guess that is where they had room for us. We got what I assume was a standard pool view by the computer pool. So, it was a nice little surprise, but like people said, I wouldn't count on it.

Here now (6/21) and all of bldg two is closed but part of bldg one is open (guessing still old rooms). The section closest to the Pool - front and back. The rest of the bldg is fenced off and signs are posted in the windows.

All open rooms have now been renovated. Thanks for the update that part of building 1 is reopened with pool facing rooms renovated.

Thank you, I am good whereever we are, I have requested things via online for location etc and last year staying at AKL my room was amazing. I go on tuesday, we shall see. =)

I'm glad to see it will all be done by our trip in September. I wouldn't have cared if I got a renovated room or not but since building 1 or 3 are the only ones I stay in it's nice to know I won't have to worry about the construction. :)

LOTS of questions lately about space & measurements. They are in the thread but hard to find, so as we find them we will add here. Again the big question is will an air mattress fit and I think the consensus is only a child sized one, not a twin or bigger. IF you have used one or will be using one - please post photos.

Thanks to

Both beds are 80 by 60 inches. So definitely queens.

Space between bed and wall by bathroom is 17 inches. But with the bathroom/sink room door slid open, you lose some space so it's 14 inches.

Space between beds is 17.5 inches.

Space between Murphy and door frame is 28 inches at closest point. Door is on diagonal. Murphy bed to window wall is 60 inches.

From foot of bed to coffee maker cabinet is 22 inches.

I tried to measure to bed frames rather than mattresses since frames stick out a bit.

Can't take picture of Murphy right now- pleople napping on it!

No one asked but I wondered myself so- closet rod extension that telescopes out from side of closet is about 9 inches.

Also I do not have connecting room and there is good space between dresser and wall by bath, 50 inches. Luggage rack is there and there is room for another luggage rack as well.

The drawers are 4 inches deep, 13 inches front to back, and 30 1/2 inches side to side.

Thanks so much John. I think we are in the final stretches where there are no old rooms still in service. NEW ROOMS FOR EVERYONE! If you wish to wander the resort you can see how the last two buildings in the 50's look .... furniture? mattresses?

Just keep your eyes open for anything that might look like they are doing something more. Where the pools stand? Anything suspicious in the food court (were some rumors of changes) and how does that Gondola station look these days?

Hope you have a great trip! :hippie:

And I completely forgot ....

:welcome:

More of building one has opened. The section parallel to the Pool section (closer to Classic Hall) has many rooms open but not all - the unoccupied rooms have mattresses in but still wrapped (in the rooms I could peek into ). The perpendicular section is still closed off with construction fences.

So what do you do with the chairs when you pull down the Murphy bed? I guess they just get put in a corner?

Usually my family and I stay at Port Orleans. However, for a long weekend trip we are taking, we have booked Pop to save money. As I began reading this thread and looking at pictures, the rooms seem small. Which would be ok, except my mom rents a scooter. Is there enough room for a scooter at Pop? Or should I reconsider and book Port Orleans? Thanks for any help.

There is definitely enough room for a scooter. If I remember correctly I may even have seen a pic of a room with 2 if not 3 scooters in it!

We stayed at Pop in April with my dad who uses a scooter at Disney. This was our first time in one of the new room and also the first time needing to fit a scooter into a value room (my parents needed scooters while staying at AKL and CSR before) and we didn't have any problems. He pulled it in and out of the room easily and parked it right next to the window. It didn't get in the way and was easy to charge with an outlet being right in that area.

Check-in at Pop in 3 weeks. I am tempted to including Building 1 in my request, along with Building 9 and 10, for the most recently renovated room. Should I include building 1 or not?? What would happen if I get a room in BLDG 1 while BLDG 2 is still under construction?? I have a standard room booked. TIA
