Yep. If one is truly interested in being thrifty, the gift cards can be the way to go. There are a few ways to get Disney Gift Cards discounted...most notable is if you have a Target Credit Card, you will get a 5% discount on the Disney Gift Cards. My cousin paid for most of her trip using this method. On a room at the Grand Floridian and all her food, the 5% savings was significant.One possible replacement "crutch" is to get a gift card and pre-load it with more than you expect to spend on snacks. That way, if you go over "budget", you've still got that "pre-paid" convenience, and if you go under, you canuse the remaining balance to (partially) pay off any room charges or get an extra souvenir.
