I don't have an AP now, but I am planning on buying one. My question is, when am I eligible for the AP rates? I'm assuming that when I purchase the AP I will get a voucher, but it's not activated yet. So, is the AP good for first day of use until one year from then or is it good from purchase date until one year later?
Can I get discount rates from an unactivated pass?

My understanding is that you can make an AP reservation without an AP. You will have to purchase the voucher and have it with you when you check in or you will be charged rack rates. You then will take the voucher to one of the parks where it will be activated and good for one year from that date.

At least that is what my plans are! pirate:
