Questions about codes//

Everybody talkes about the "codes" for discounts. But do you have to have the code when you call for a reservation or can you just ask if there are any discounts?? If you call and dont even know about any codes but ask if there are any specials, etc wont they give you the special price anyway?? When I call for room reservataions I always ask for any passholder or Fl Resident discounts or AAA dicounts and that always works.

I have read that at any hotel, Disney included, if there are any discounts available, they have to tell you about them. They do not have to mention them if you do not ask. If you ask it is a guarantee that you will find something out for sure. If you do not ask you certainly will not know.
