Rise of the Chunkies! A Jan 2020 Trip Report! NEW 7/14 THE END of our TRIP!!

Your day sounded great but made me tired reading about it! I think 4 parks in a day would be a fun goal. If our rescheduled trip in Sept works out, I may try to talk my DH into it :thumbsup2

Hi, Su-Lynn! I'm glad you tagged me because I didn't realize I wasn't here already! :rotfl:

I've been a little out of sorts lately, especially with DisBoards, but reading about these fun times makes me happy :-)

Baobab Tree for @buzzrelly

This was probably the longest ride because...we got stuck in the annoying DNA matching/decontamination room TWICE and had to sit through the "and...umm...fly" guy two times!! :sad2:

Ugh, once is bad enough :crazy2:

We asked politely if we could wait it out in the next room but we were told if we want to ride we had to endure...and so we did.

Disney hazing :P

So we headed to...Peter Pan. I think you'd be lying if you said you don't miss being pixie dusted.

Dust me all over! I need Pixie Dust right now!

Same!

It was a wonderful, LONG, and packed day. We made a decision to do all 4 parks and we stuck to it despite our tiredness! And we threw in a trip to Disney Springs! LOL.

What a fun memory and I'm sure you're so happy you did all that now!

We then made our way to Flight of Passage - the FP line was super long, I think we waited the longest ever and I've never seen the FP line reach past this point at a standstill.

That is a ridiculous FP line...can't imagine what the SB line would be. Ugh.

And then we were done! So tired. But now I was hungry. I only wanted sushi, and I only wanted GOOD sushi so we headed to Disney Springs! I was hoping we could grab a seat at the bar area for Morimoto Asia since there were no ADRs left.

Wow, 4 parks AND DS!! Very impressive, and even a stop for a drink with more DIS'ers. What a day! I'm tired just reading about it!! But so much fun I'm sure!

We were all so happy you popped in!!!
That sushi looked AMAZING!!! I pray we can eat there in September!!!!
It was a fun little quick get together! Fingers crossed for all our future trips!
Cute shot on Soarin' :)
Thanks!
You guys are nuts!
And you just discovered this?
:lmao:
Kelly will never live this down.
Haha nope
Holy cow! I wonder if it had gone down for a time?
It's possible!
Ugh! Almost as bad as one time on IASW.
I'm not sure what is worse but it feels less claustrophobic in IASW
Ah! I was wondering where you'd go for good sushi.
It's usually been pretty good!
I honestly don't think I could do that.
I think I've seen it enough times to be ok with slightly missing it. Also, hungry.
Nice! A quick mini epic meet!
Yup!
It certainly looks good. Too bad it was only okay.
IT was actually still pretty good.
This is one of my goals for next year. I've never done that challenge but it's on my list.
Oh wow, you've never done it! I honestly only achieved it in 2017 I think for the first time.
UGH!!! That's nuts!
Yup, so crowded
:lmao: I just laugh my head off at that guy. It's SO annoying, it's actually funny.
HAha funny once, second time you're like LET ME OUT
A beautiful sight? LOL! It looks like a very crowded sight. ;)
Oh it was PACKED!
The bar seating is always a greata option for impromptu dining!
It is! I'm glad it's an option!
Yeah.... I was gonna say... not much there looks "exotic". But it does look good. :)
Yup, maybe exotic to some but nowadays I think everyone has had sushi or been exposed to it so it certainly ain't exotic!

Day 0 - Travel Day and First DISmeet of the trip!

We left on a Friday night after work. This has been our usual routine now when we go for short weekend trips: leave from work and drive straight to the airport, park in long term parking, shuttle to terminal, go through pre-check and then to our gate or a restaurant if we're early. We usually do carry-on only since we have our Owners Locker, but for this trip since the weather was to be really erratic I brought more layers and jackets, I did pack one check-in bag so we had to drop that off first. I also brought some more toiletries to stock our owners locker, LOL.

I think our flight was on time and we arrived at MCO, picked up our luggage and hopped on Magical Express with no lines. It seemed like there wasn't that many people here, so we thought it was a good sign (warning, it was NOT).

We arrived at Caribbean Beach Resort - we had never stayed there before so were quite excited for the new experience. The lobby smells amazing though! We were hungry so thought we should grab a bite to eat so went to the quick service and placed a mobile order. I was texting with @Mollydolly334 since she already in WDW and was wandering around the Riviera resort next to CBR, although she wasn't staying there just yet. We were waiting for our food when I see the sweetest face running towards me.! It's Molly!! We hugged and squealed because we hadn't seen each other since the Epic trip last year. Even though she is much younger than old me we get along super well; I like to say that I adopted her, my own Chunkybaby! LOL

Less than 30 minutes here and already our first DISmeet!!

Our food took a while and it felt like we were waiting for a long time but finally Steve went to see what was going on and it turns out they were making a fresh batch of food hence the wait. It was nice though as it gave us plenty of time for us to catch up with Molly. They ended up giving us a double order of our entree for the price of one, how nice, a little bit of pixie dust to start our trip!

We ordered the: Braised Beef Stew - Cuban-style Ropa Vieja served over Rice and Beans with Green Beans and the Spinach and Kale Salad -
Spinach, Kale, Tomato, Avocado and Pickled Onions tossed in an Herb Vinaigrette Dressing. Everything was great but we only needed one entree since we shared everything and it was also late and didn't want to overeat. So we packed up the extra entree in case we had the nibbles later.

Since I was texted our room number, we headed straight there, and we brought Molly along to check out our room! Our room was Number 4244 in the Jamaica section which was the closest building to the new Skyliner. We couldn't wait to check it out. We used the resort maps to figure out where we were going since we didn't know!

The resort is really big though, as I have heard and it is the truth. After what seemed like 15 minutes we ended up in our room Building 4 on the 2nd floor:

I'm glad we got a king bed! It actually makes the room seem, well, roomier! It was a standard moderate room, although I thought it was a bit plain and it needed a little spiffing up since you can tell the carpet was a little murky, the corners are dinged, etc. I actually liked our room at All Star Movies better, but hey, it's just a place to sleep and the room was very spacious. As you can see, the first thing I turned on was the Disney blue screen. The soothing music just sets the tone for me :)

And yes they brought back the sea salt lotion to the rooms. Thank goodness for the uproar from DISboarders LOL. #unitedwestand

We had fun checking out the room with Molly and then we parted ways and said good night - she was going to walk to the skyliner but unfortunately it wasn't running at that time so I think she took the bus back to her resort.

We also had our owners locker delivered - yay! Finally I could get cleaned and changed and get some sleep because we had an early early day tomorrow - we were going to try our hand at Rise of the Resistance!!!

Oh and if you are wondering what is my favorite thing I keep in my Owners locker - it is liquid hand soap. I don't like bar hand soaps - it's just inconvenient and I feel like I can never get the soap off too so I thought this was the best thing ever, LOL.

Next up...our EARLY EARLY morning at Hollywood Studios!
I agree! Bar soap always feels like it isn't clean *enough.* Shower gel and liquid handsoap are the only way.

I'm so confused with how many TRs you have going...but I think this is the day you met up with Chunkydust, rode RotR and then went to brunch....since this is January and you said you were there the first weekend of Brunch. :confused3

At this point, were tired but we had already made up our mind to do 4 Parks in 1 Day and I was determined to finish it!

You guys are nuts!

This was probably the longest ride because...we got stuck in the annoying DNA matching/decontamination room TWICE

I had that happen on my very first ride. :sad2:

And then we were done! So tired. But now I was hungry. I only wanted sushi, and I only wanted GOOD sushi so we headed to Disney Springs! I was hoping we could grab a seat at the bar area for Morimoto Asia since there were no ADRs left.

I would have been done after brunch!

When we arrived at DS we realized that a bunch of people were over at Jock Lindseys: Ariane and Steve, Jenny and Joe, Melinda, Molly. It was a short meet up and we went to say hi and we had one drink, sorry we didn't take any pictures, I was so tired!

Yikes! I don't know how you hang in there!

We did make our way eventually over to Morimoto Asia around 10pm. They had a table at the bar, yay, so we ordered drinks and shared a large sushi platter.

Yay for a table! I can never order the "chef's selection", cuz I'm picky.

It was good and hit the spot but it was touted as a platter with rare and exotic fishes but I don't think there was anything rare or exotic about the sushi on this platter, LOL.

Maybe for someone who doesn't eat sushi regularly. That looks like a Tempura Shrimp roll, which is pretty common. I would think a spider is more exotic than that. Also more expensive! My dad likes Uni and Spanish Mackerel in addition to Unagi and Anago, plus Hamachi and other common fish, so its all relative when you say "rare and exotic".

Andi and I use to do 4 parks in a day about every other trip, we haven’t done it in awhile now, I think we need to do it again when we finally can!!
I know! I just want to be at one park, LOL! But it was a fun day despite it being terribly LONG!
How funny! I met @docsoliday1 on my 4 parks in 1 day back in August! :thumbsup2 :goodvibes
Well, then he's just setting a trend!
::yes:: Agreed. I think we all really need some!
pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:
I am SO impressed! I've done 4 parks in 1 day a few times over the years, but never have I ALSO thrown in DS! :thumbsup2:worship:
I had to be so EXTRA. :rotfl:
What she's not telling you is once she met me, she quickly decided rather than stay at AK, she needed to park hop to get away from me.
:rotfl2:

Come to think of it, I believe that's what you and Steve did @chunkymonkey

Hmmm...seems to be a pattern, but I'm not quite catching it.
LOL Well I see you're setting another trend again!
UGH!!!!! That happened to us in December, only we had to go through THREE times because our second time through, they sent us into a room with one too many people to ride. UMMM, Fly is annoying once. Three times was horrendous!!!
LOL I remember you told me! I can't imagine sitting through it 3 times in a row, they should just let you stay on your banshee for 3 rides, haha.
 @missjackiemcg

Wish I could see you (and all of you). This quarantine sucks!
It does!
Your day sounded great but made me tired reading about it! I think 4 parks in a day would be a fun goal. If our rescheduled trip in Sept works out, I may try to talk my DH into it :thumbsup2
It was fun but very tiring to park hop AND do rides and stuff but since we started early it was good. It was a challenge and I'm glad we did it but not sure we would do it again any time soon, maybe not when we have to get an early BG for rise!
Hi, Su-Lynn! I'm glad you tagged me because I didn't realize I wasn't here already! :rotfl:

I've been a little out of sorts lately, especially with DisBoards, but reading about these fun times makes me happy :-)
Hi Kelly!! Glad you are here!! I was in the same boat, feeling kind of in denial and not wanting to see anything Disney-related because it would just make me sadder, but it's actually been quite therapeutic to write about these trips!

What a fun memory and I'm sure you're so happy you did all that now!
It was a crazy day but you're right, I'm so happy we had a day where we just went crazy, got a boarding group, did all 4 parks and went to Disney springs!

That is a ridiculous FP line...can't imagine what the SB line would be. Ugh.
YEah seriously! It was pretty darn crowded.
Wow, 4 parks AND DS!! Very impressive, and even a stop for a drink with more DIS'ers. What a day! I'm tired just reading about it!! But so much fun I'm sure!
It was a ton of fun, and we were just happy to be out and about at Disney!
Welll…. perhaps just an observation on the nut-ball odyssey.

OK.
Thanks. I think.
Claustrophobia is the least of my worries on IASW.
Haha, not a fan of the slightly repetitive song?
I agree! Bar soap always feels like it isn't clean *enough.* Shower gel and liquid handsoap are the only way.
Exactly!
Please, you're incapable of taking a bad picture. I hope my skin looks like that when I'm 43!
Aw you are sweet, thank you! But I only post the good ones :)
I'm so confused with how many TRs you have going...but I think this is the day you met up with Chunkydust, rode RotR and then went to brunch....since this is January and you said you were there the first weekend of Brunch. :confused3
Haha you and me both, I think I've quoted and responded to other people on the wrong TR. It happens if I don't respond right away. I know I brought it all upon myself since I have 3 TRs going...and am about to start a March one!
You guys are nuts!
I know, we can be. :)
I had that happen on my very first ride. :sad2:
Oh dear, not a good way to start, but at least it was still new to you at that point.
I would have been done after brunch!
I think we were just pumped up from having gone on so many good rides that morning! We thought we could go on all day. Also we had 16 FPs to use. EACH! :cloud9::cloud9::cloud9:
Yikes! I don't know how you hang in there!
It was closer to a thread the later it got. but luckily that thread held up pretty well.
Yay for a table! I can never order the "chef's selection", cuz I'm picky.
I'm usually ok with the chefs selection if I have Steve that can eat whatever I don't like as he eats anything!
True, that's what I thought. But I thought there would at least be some Ikura and Uni on the plate. Or maybe this was an abbreviated chef's version. In any case I think we paid too much for this considering it wasn't that exotic and I will probably end up getting a la carte sushi next time we go.

This was probably the longest ride because...we got stuck in the annoying DNA matching/decontamination room TWICE and had to sit through the "and...umm...fly" guy two times!! :sad2:
Oh no, going through that thing once is definitely enough for me! I didn't know it was possible to listen to it twice lol.
What a beautiful sight at night!

YUM!!
Coming up...Breakfast on the French Riviera with characters at Topolino!
Ooh I can't wait to read about this! I feel like I viewed pictures of the food and characters a while back when Topolino's first opened, but I don't exactly remember, so I'm looking forward to hearing all about it!

Overall your 4 -parks-in-1-day sounded fantastic. You both accomplished a lot and it sounded so much fun!

Day 3 Part 1: Daisy Teaches Dance

Today we were having breakfast at Topolino. I booked this breakfast after we arrived so it was pretty last minute and surprisingly I found a table for us. The reason I didn't book that many ADRs before the trip was because I wasn't sure how easy it would be to get a boarding group for Rise and sort of kept our schedules mostly open to accommodate for any early mornings. Since we had ridden it twice already, we were ok not doing it again, and since I really wanted to try this breakfast I booked it! We asked @Mollydolly334 if she'd like to join us and she said sure! So we were all set to go that morning. It was too bad it was not when she was staying at the Riviera, it would have been so convenient!

It's very convenient for us though to be able to take the Skyliner to breakfast.
The Riviera was looking beautiful as usual:

It was definitely chillier that day so we were all wearing thick hoodies!

Topolinos is located on the rooftop, so we took the elevators to the top and met Molly up there. It really is a beautiful restaurant, it feels very high-end, in a modern artsy way. We checked in and were seated in about 10 minutes. It was pretty busy that morning and there were quite a few people in the waiting area too. If you've ever been on Disney cruise line, this feels like Palo's more sophisticated big sister :)

We sat in a nice comfy booth and admired our surroundings. We were so excited to be here! I love trying new Disney restaurants, especially character meals!

So the menu is a prix-fixe (I believe it is around 42 for adults) and includes coffee, juice, a bread basket for the table, plus your choice of entree. Steve and I chose the steak, and Molly got the ham and cheese croissant.

We started with coffees and POG (Passion Orange Guava) - which isn't exactly an ubiquitous drink in the Italian coast/French Riviera but it is found everywhere at Disney World and it tastes good so we welcomed it with open arms (mouths).

ACtC-3cOpPpixPGTZqllfPHJkRm2SQLK4tLi7h8Ywp536WC2R6lIsiVLI3cB0Fmfw3ueG1w_ezH2emKk5pHAYVVUGo-NlrXbxKYzHngTAoL9PDmCT7vaJKJlFV5ojnM0RSK1H7eWD3btw8HOb2SGeRKcpqNCvQ=w802-h601-no

And our bread basket. It was served in a cute little painter's tray. It reminds me of the table numbers they have in Animator's Palate on Disney Cruise Line. OK can you tell I'm missing DCL a bit?

Anyways back to the bread basket....here it is! It was so yummy, it is probably one of the best bread baskets at Disney, there were chocolate and fruit croissants, plain croissants, chocolate muffins, and epi bread which is that nice long baguette-looking thing sticking out. I love baguettes so epi bread was made for me. They were kind enough to bring us more! It was served with a trio of honey butter, nutella, and strawberry jam.

If you've read my Crazy Dis Asians TR you'd know my sister would take one look at that jam, portion shake her head, and promptly order 4 more servings. "I need more jam" is probably one of her favorite things to say. LOL

More Epi Bread:

So the characters are introduced one at a time and come out to great fanfare and lots of fun Italian music. They were so adorable in their artsy outfits!

Steve and I both got the steak with polenta:

We loved Topolino's brunch and thought it was well worth it. It's just a pain to get to in the early morning if you're not staying on a skyliner resort or at CBR where you can just walk, and will probably have to rely on an Uber/Lyft. Next time if we're not staying close by I will book a later breakfast time, so we can head to either Epcot or DHS first for a few rides then take the skyliner over.

We took a walk outside to the patio to check out the view. It's amazing!

It was quite cold though, we knew we were in for a much colder day than the past 3. Plus, we were headed to MK's After Hours that night and so I noted to wear an extra layer.

We took the bus from the Rivera to MK. I couldn't believe it but it was more crowded than the day before.

We had some time till our FPs so we made our way to Tomorrowland, I think the Peoplemover was packed so we decided to do CoP. Yes it's a great big beautiful tomorrow...but not during quarantine. 😆

After a calm start, we went over to 7DMT because we had an FP, thankfully!

It was packed everywhere! We tried to go on so many things but we were turned off by the lines. I kid you not when I saw that IaSW had like a 45 minute wait, they event set up ropes outside the ride to handle the extra crowds. Where was all these people coming from!?! Oh right, they are just like us. #suckers :rotfl:

We had a FP+ for Haunted Mansion luckily so we did that. We took Molly with us on all our FPs, by begging (kindly asking) the CMs and they were always kind enough to let her ride with us since she didn't make any FPs for that day!

Molly and I rode in a doombuggy together and we had the most awesome ride pic...or so we thought. It has never come through till this day!! Sad face. :( I guess we could complain to Photopass but we got to take a make up version later, I promise.

We then did our next FP for BTMRR - tons of fun as usual. We went through the FP line with no issues, but when we got off the ride and were walking out, we realized the FP line had suddenly grown so long that it was all the way by the bridge in Frontierland. It was crazy!!

Here is Molly pointing out the crazy line:

ACtC-3fxQuHEgYXHl01f86R9n0U0-6rnwTqSo_S9ZSHH80qoR-LOpuGbtM4L1VTxqsLgWaJKASX6hIZZ4S1RAoS9L-TyVuxImeYubnW-vgVFAnZJqHUYUqSE1yjKi9MvATzY1iPOoBP5MKvCFKch3Tc8udAvSg=w822-h616-no

I have no idea what happened in between our ride and when we left because it was running for sure!

Because we had walked all over MK now, we decided we needed a bit of a rest and snack...something that was both refreshing and sweet, so we headed to the Aloha Isle. I thought I'd definitely get a Dole Whip but I saw two things that caught my eye, one was a raspberry and pistachio swirl float served over iced chocolate, and another was the Kakamora float. They both sounded amazing. I got the raspberry one and got Steve the Kakamora. Not sure if he'd like it but he would probably eat it in any case, LOL. Molly got her the raspberry and pistachio swirl but without the iced hot chocolate.

OMG don't they look divine?

On the left is the pistachio raspberry float and on the right is the kakamora float which has coconut swirl over pineapple juice with blue curacao. They both look really good!
But immediately after tasting the pistachio raspberry float....I started raving about it.
OMG I KID YOU NOT IT IS FREAKIN' AMAZING!

Molly and I kept saying over and over how good it was! I was so surprised. I was a little hesitant to get it but I figure I should just get it now because it might not even be here when we come back. I hope to see it there the next time we go (which at this point is closer to ...never. :()

Wow what a great little snack! Sooo good!
After our rest we decided to head our separate ways and Molly and I would meet up later that night before After Hours. We were also going to try going to Top of the World to watch the fireworks before heading to MK!

Steve and I decided to take the long way back to CBR by taking the monorail to Epcot.
There's only one reason for this...gonna go have some festival eats or course!

In any case, stay tuned for another fun afternoon and night at MK After Hours!

What she's not telling you is once she met me, she quickly decided rather than stay at AK, she needed to park hop to get away from me.

NO WAY! In contrast, I'd considered throwing my plans away altogether because I was having such a wonderful time.

Top one does... not the bottom, horrid coconut one.
But immediately tasting the pistachio raspberry float....I was just raving about it. OMG I KID YOU NOT IT IS FREAKIN' AMAZING
Really! I'm shocked! I was sure you'd say "I prefer the regular Dole whip."
I gotta try this!
I hope to see it there the next tine we go (which at this point is closer to ...never. :()
Yeah... :sad1:

If you've read my Crazy Dis Asians TR you'd know my sister would take one look at that jam, portion shake her head, and promptly order 4 more servings. "I need more jam" is probably one of her favorite things to say. LOL
Hilarious that you mention that because it's EXACTLY what I thought of when I saw the tiny amount of jam in that jar, LOL 😂 🤣

Toppolino's does look absolutely adorable! I actually changed our plans for the April trip that never happened to include that breakfast. Love their sweet little outfits. Someday we will get back to WDW!!!

Yum I love a good bread basket. I especially love when it is unique like this one.
All of your character photos were so cute! I love their outfits:goodvibes
Wow this looks so good. So glad you all enjoyed your bunch at Toppolino's! It sounds like a really great place and for the price it seems like a great deal!
Definitley something I would consider for the future!::yes::
We took a walk outside to the patio to check out the view. It's amazing!

Wow these two items sound so interesting! Definitely not something I would think of trying but after hearing your reaction it intrigues me lol. I think I am such a fan of dolewhips I usually just stick with the same thing haha.
In any case, stay tuned for another fun afternoon and night at MK After Hours!
As always, looking forward to hearing about it!:goodvibes
