Riverside 7 in 7

It is a gorgeous resort. We took the boat from DS to get a lay of the land and each "plantation" area. I agree with Charles in that the landscaping in each separate plantation are absolutely stunning.

Caveat: I've never stayed here, just on a scouting mission.

My parents went to Disney World without me 4 years ago. Yes it should be child abuse. Even though I was in my mid 30s with 3 kids....:rolleyes1 They stayed at Riverside and really enjoyed their stay.

I stayed at Riverside many years ago ('95 maybe? When it was still Dixie Landings). I liked the room okay (loved the bed frames - look like they're made out of tree branches, I see they're the same from when I stayed there), but was REALLY far from the main area, even far from a bus stop. HUGE resort, for sure, but loved the boat ride to Downtown Disney (at the time).

Also had some major nostalgia watching the review vlog scenes at the food court, since the big Gatherings I used to attend always happened there. Have an awesome picture somewhere of about 85 or so of us outside by the big water wheel, we hired a Disney photographer to take it for us. Probably in '95 or so, again. :)Always liked that food court - really decent food, lots of choices. Ewwwwww at the fried okra - sorry - okra in ANY form is NOT for me! LOL. And they put it in drinks - REALLY????? A million times - NNNNOOOOOO!!!!! ROTFL @ Charles fishing, he has such an awesome sense of humor at times! :)

Sorry, to hear about your experience, or lack thereof.

I've listened to the Riverside 7 in 7 and agree with Pete's view that CM's at this resort just don't smile. Didn't see anyone at the desk smile.......nor did we see anyone in the food court crack a smile either.

My wife and I did a split stay in 2016, with Riverside being our first location. We did online check-in which at this resort was a mistake.....primarily because its so sprawling. The place is immense. We got lost twice, the first time just trying to find our room and second when we got off at the wrong bus stop at night........... Make sure if you stay here you visit the front desk and get a map. While the grounds are beautiful but without a map the beauty is lost fast. Also we found the food court slow, difficult to understand (yeah really o_O), and the food wasn't that great. Unfortunately we were disappointed.

We stayed in a princess room, for my wife :), it was gitchy but quite small even for 2............I guess I've become a deluxe resort snob (not really because we love POP Century rooms).

Drat. I get lost in the grocery store. I would need a personal escort for my entire trip to find my room!

I love Riverside, but I do agree the food court feels slow at times. DH was in line to get a burger for over 20 minutes last trip. On the one hand, some of the food is made to order which is cool but it really does slow things down. Especially if someone else is at a faster kiosk. We think the food is good though, and has some of the best options of all the resort food courts.

As far as difficult to understand, I can see that too and Charles made reference to it in the review. Particularly at the pasta bar and pizza counter, its not clear that some folks pick up their food there while others order pizza there so no one really knows who's there for what, including the CMs. They definitely lack signage.

I've been trying to listen to this one but when I click to listen it just plays the Art of Animation one again. ???? :listen:

I never realized how much space there is to just walk around on the island and be isolated from the rest of the resort. It looks like it would be very relaxing when you're not in the parks.

I've made several reservations for Riverside but I always ended up switching to a value after a while. Maybe I'll actually keep one of my reservations here one day, it looks gorgeous.

We are visiting Riverside for our first time in May. I'm looking forward to a more relaxing resort stay (hopefully) after long park days. I am feeling like 5 of us might be tight in the Alligator Bayou rooms.

I loved the 7 in 7 posts, they were fun and full of info.

We love this resort and have always stayed there. We have stayed in both the mansions and AB side and while both are nice, I love the landscaping of AB. The food court is good as is the pool. Never noticed if CM’s are smiling or not. They always seemed nice to me.

If you get a deal within budget, certainly give it a try! We had a room in Acadian House and it was nice but a bit worn. However, we were not in the room much and the grounds, buses, and amenities made up for it. We really enjoyed being able to take a boat to Disney Springs. It was a relaxing way to wind down an evening after dinner at Paddlefish. Absolutely lovely!

Which area had the nicer rooms in your opinion? We stayed there once, maybe in 2005? I have only seen the AB rooms.

I was dying when Charles went fishing. He fishes like I do, 30 mins and done! :lmao: I love the look of Riverside. I have always wanted to stay there.

That was just great!!! I want a whole series of Charles trying new things ... riding a surrey bike, paddling down the river in Fort Wilderness, animation training at Art of Animation, ...anything. Charles has really grown on me. I really appreciate his self-self-depricating ways, his humor about his own introversion and cynicism. Delightful.
