First time staying at SSR. Main reason for going to WDW was to run in the runDisney Princess 10K. We booked for two nights in a studio. The room was great, we had enough room and having a toaster and microwave with a preschooler is always a bonus. We used the bus transportation once to get to the race on Saturday morning. The rest of the time we drove since everything was so close. We were in the Grandstand section. Would've liked something closer to the DS walkway but being close to the entrance allowed easy in/out by car. Ate at Morimoto's Saturday night and had the duck ramen which was good and enough to have some for a midnight snack.
A friend had gone on ROTR 2 wks ago and gave us some advice on getting a boarding group.
We arrived before 7am. The park didn't open until 8am but they do let you go through security & scan your magic band. Since the virtual queue doesn't open until 8am it doesn't matter if you got there at 6am or 7:59a but it does let you ensure everyone in your group is marked present in the park & not waiting in a security line. It also allows you to stand in line for rides like Millennium Falcon or Slinky Dog which can be impossible to get a FP for. We got boarding group 67 and were on ROTR by 12 noon. In the meantime we rode Millennium (got on at 9am), alien saucers and walked around. We had pretty much seen everything we wanted to see and left to the runDisney Expo to pick up our things for the race. Everyone else went to Magic Kingdom. Had a great race and a great trip overall.
