I’m so excited to create my very first Pre-Trip Report! I’m a long time lurker on the DIS Boards but this will be the year I participate! We’re booked for a stay at Pop Century from 11/28/17 to 12/5/17.

About Us:
We are a family of three from Southern New Jersey, just outside of Philly.

Our last visit was in October 2014 to celebrate my 30th birthday, and it included myself, my husband, my daughter (then 1.5 years old), my mom, and my brother. This time, we’re coming back with just the three of us, which we are super happy about because we can really stick to my anal-retentive, ugh, I mean, highly organized touring plans. Last time, we were slowed down considerably by my family members who are not so keen on waking up early. :( Here’s a birds-eye view of what last time was SUPPOSED TO look like:

I’m also really excited that my daughter will be able to experience more of the Disney Magic this time, since she’s older now and really hitting a good target demographic for the parks, particularly Fantasyland in MK. This will likely be the last time I can take her during the “school year” because once she starts kindergarten it becomes a truancy issue. Someday soon, we’ll only be able to go during “Jersey Week!” (I’m one of those people who refuses to go during the summer).

This will be my 3rd time staying at Pop, and my husband’s second. It isn’t terribly glamorous, but it certainly does the trick! We did treat ourselves to a preferred room this time, so I’m interested to see whether or not that pays off.

I’ve never been to WDW during the holiday season, so that’s our main focus for this trip. We’re definitely planning on the Christmas Party and I’m also excited about the seasonal stuff in Epcot. We are going to try to get in a good amount of time for character meet and greets, something I haven’t had to think about for any of my prior trips. We are skipping Disney Springs this time (it’s lovely, but not priority for us), and we’re also not planning on any water park stuff. Although I’m packing a bathing suit just in case, I don’t really anticipate getting any pool time in, either - partly because the weather will be hit or miss, but also because I’m anticipating that our schedule will be quite full! That’s how I roll…. :)

We have the Dining Plan (still crossing my fingers for the free dining promotion to apply to us this year), and we selected Park Hopper tickets. I was on the fence about whether or not the park hopper was necessary, but I felt like if I didn’t purchase it, I’d wind up regretting not having it. I’m still undecided on whether or not to get the Memory Maker option this time. We got it last time and were not terribly impressed, as there were many photos missing and the picture quality was frequently disappointing. I shall ponder it a bit more.

I’m a TouringPlans.com subscriber and already have crowd forecast all mapped out for my travel dates. (Grrrrr…. Already got an email that the crowds have been upgraded a few points for each day I’m there - so I need to update the spreadsheet already and re-consider my park days). I’ve also got my list of “must-do” items for each park to help prioritize our FP+s and ADRs (which I will likely post below at some point). I’m really just sitting on my hands until it comes time to book ADRs and check out the published park hours around the 6-month mark.

Holy Moly! So Excited! 286 Days to go!

*edited to correct my number of previous visits, because apparently, I can't count!

Back again to post a preliminary look at our plans (I know it's super early, but I can't help myself). I use Touring Plans and had to re-do the whole thing after getting the first of what I hope is very few crowd calendar updates. All of the park hours are guesses at this point, obviously. It's very sparse for now; I've just included some must-dos for each park. I've used this format for my WDW planning for the last 3 trips. Assuming there's a MVMCP on Sunday, that's when I'd like to go.

On the heaviest crowd day, I left it blank for a "choose your own adventure" day, which I tend to do every time we go, to give us time to sleep in, hit the pool, and choose a park on the fly to finish up some stuff we didn't get a chance to do earlier in the week. I'm going heavy on the Magic Kingdom this time (color coded orange), knowing we'll have a 4 year old and that she'll most likely want to hang out there more than anywhere else. I know there's not a ton of break time in here, but my daugher is not a napper. She hasn't taken a nap since she was about 15 months old. :confused3

Our Dining Wishlist is partially mapped out. We're looking for Be Our Guest, Akershus Royal Banquet Hall, Tusker House (with the ROL dining package!), and Ohana for sure. Others I'd like to check out are Skipper Canteen, Diamond Horseshoe, Crystal Palace, and a few other spots specifically for snacks and other goodies (I'm determined to try a Dole Whip, LeFou's Brew, and a specialty cupcake this time around!).

I'd love to hear tips and pointers on any of the above! :thumbsup2

Following along! My DH and I will be there Dec. 2-9. It's fun to read about others plans. Our touring style is a little different since our boys are all grown up and it's just us oldsters. The last time we were there in December was 2011. It's my favorite time to go so I'm anxious to go back! I've quit worrying about the crowds and just make plans and go with it. Starting to think about ADR's and plan to try a few new places.

Following along. We'll be there 11/28-12/8. Considering a pre-trip report myself but am a total newbie. I'm also an (obssesive) TP subscriber and may :rolleyes1 have color coded spreadsheets. I have DH, DS9, DS8, & DD3. Looking forward to following along.

I spent some time today altering our plans a bit. I heard thru the grapevine (in fact it was right here on the DISboards) that Magic Kingdom is closing early (4:30?) on November the 30th for a special CM event, so I had to move some stuff around, since I had us there that evening. Here's the update (including some more definitve choices for ADRs we'd like to get).

I'm now using crowd forcasts from Touring Plans AND Undercover Tourist, which seem to contradict a bit, to be honest.

Crazy as it sounds, I still think I need more time in Magic Kingdom. But I'm sure this will all change again once Touring Plans updates the crowd calendars (I hope they won't, but I'm sure they will), and of course we won't truly know which days are which until I get park hours and a schedule for MVMCP.

Is it June 1st yet? (my 180 day mark) :hyper:

27 Days to go! I've been sort of silent here (sorry!), but I'm back, paid in full, all dining reservations made thanks to the help of the Touring Plans Reservation Finder, all Fastpasses booked in *mostly* the spots I wanted them, sort of. All that's left to do is pack! The schedule has evolved quite a bit since my earlier posts.
