Maybe, but I think it would have let me wait until there were more RIV resales on the market (2021, 2022?) to buy a contract to use there exclusively. I would have paid around $120pp for that.

at least this way you get to go on a couple vacations and if you didn't already have direct benefits, now you got them!

For such a recent purchase, that's a great price!

Yeah -- I was fortunate on this one. It was listed on a random timeshare resale site and it had been sitting for a while. It was listed for $140 and had international sellers.

Knowing all of that, I made an offer of $128 and had the sellers pay the MFs -- so it dropped the effective price to under $123 (now I need to change my posting). Apparently they had passed on a couple other offers over $130, but after 6 months of not selling, they wanted to be done with the whole thing.

160 BLT Sept 2012 - $70 (foreclosure on Ebay)
160 AKV July 2018 - $84 (foreclosure on Ebay)
100 Poly Oct 2018 - $144 (Fidelity)
70 VGF Oct 2018 - $140 (Fidelity)

220 AKV Jan 2010 - $96 (Direct)
100 AKV Sept 2010 - $98 (Direct)
160 AKV March 2019 - $110 (Resale)

The earlier ones we bought direct was when the CDN dollar was basically at Par.....Good value and I would do it again....love our DVC!

I paid $0 because my father transferred our family membership to my sister and me when our mom died.

But based on the number of points (235) in the contract that they bought in 1993, and the rough amount of money I was told they spent, I think they paid $51/pp.

Finally checked my records. I own at the Grand Californian.

Fall of 2009 - 25 point resale for $112.
Spring of 2010 - 100 points direct for $97.

One of the best things I ever did.

200 VGC June 2008 - $96 (direct)
75 VGC Nov 2010 - $82 (resale)

Every once in awhile I still regret not picking up a 80-100 point BCV contract in the $80/point range when I was looking back in 2011/12 since we have managed to make it to Florida every 3 years, I suspect we may never see those prices again (which at the time seemed high).

I bought BLT in 2010 180 pts $108. 25pts in 2016 at 135$ per point.
I bought AKL resale 150 pts, in 2012 for $68 per point.

Our Original Contract SSR in Jan. 2007 $99 a point.
We bought resale for some VWL points in 2011 maybe and they were 70 something a point. I can't remember.

We purchased a resale in 1996. OKW 310 points at $50 per point. Closing costs paid by the seller. We got free park tickets through the end of 1999. Grandfathered in as blue cardholders. My DH and I were 27 and 24 when we bought. It was a lot of money for us then. But it's the smartest financial decision we've ever made. We've gotten so much value over the years. DVC is a huge part of our lives!

Resale 2009---BWV 222 at $72
Resale 2010---SSR 125 at $60
Resale 2011---SSR 50 at $60
