Solo 2: The Sequel (November 2018) - Updated 11/6

giphy.gif

Ok, so I did it! I booked Early Morning Magic - Fantasyland for my last day. It may be challenging doing the bag pre-check thing and get to the park that early, but I think I'm up for the challenge! I've had breakfast at Be Our Guest Before, but I've never done Early Morning Magic. That's mainly what made the decision for me and the fact that some of the days around it are sold-out.

I still need to order my Christmas Party tickets.

Also, I hit 120 pounds lost this weekend.

What's still in Flux:

My Magic Kingdom Party Days are the biggest question marks. CRT works best to use my credits, but I don't know if I really need to go there multiple times. Right now, I mainly want to be sure that I'm there for my last day and maybe change it up on those other days. I'll have to see what ADRs open up as we get closer. I'm also interested in the Lion King Tiffins Package, but that would really screw up my ADR credits if I go for Tier 1. I'm also thinking about changing one of the Prime Time Cafe ADRs, but DHS doesn't really have a lot of options. I wasn't really impressed with Brown Hat Derby the last time I was there and I'm not sure about Momma Melrose.

I've also been playing around with the idea about doing one of the Desert Parties.

80 Days!

I ordered my Christmas party tickets! I'm going Tuesday and Thursday. I'm also getting closer to paying it all off with Disney Gift Cards. I feel weird buying too many at one time, but some lady before me purchased $6k worth of Disney Gift Cards so I guess me buying $1k at once is fine.

giphy.gif

Quick Update:

I ordered the Jessica Rabbit Limited Release Magic Band. I wanted to wait until I got to the parks to buy one, but I don't want it to be sold out by the time I got there in November. I also changed my first dinner reservation from 50's Prime Time to the Flying Fish. The Dis Unplugged's review really sold it for me. I'll probably be canceling the CRT reservation for the second Christmas Party. My new first-day plan is to start my day at DHS, then go to dinner, then go to Epcot.

I'm also thinking about canceling my other Christmas Party day CRT reservation and doing breakfast at Boma and something else instead.

Joining! Sounds like an incredibly fun trip. We overlap most of your days (we're there 11/10-11/17). This will be our third year in a row going that week (with a tentative booking for next year), so it's been a good time of year for us.

Tomorrow is the big Fast Pass Day!

giphy.gif

I have all of my ADRs ready and all of my touring plans printed. I'll wake up tomorrow at 5:30 am CST and hope for the best.

It is done. The only thing I didn't get that I really wanted was Slinky Dog Dash on arrival day. Thankfully the lines don't look too bad in the app, so maybe I'll get lucky with a shorter wait time.

Looking good! We made out similarly and couldn't get SDD (we're headed there 11/12), but I'm hoping for a relatively decent RD morning there. And, if it doesn't work out, oh well...we're still hanging out at Disney World! That was a fun Disney IT morning, wasn't it?! :sad2:

I had much better luck with the App. The website crashed right away, but my iPhone X was able to do most of the heavy lifting. All told, it took me about 45 minutes to schedule all my fast passes.

That's not bad at all! I had some tickets/passes "missing", so that added FP selection delays for me.

My new Jessica Rabbit Magic Band came in the other day. The colors look so much more vibrant than the on demand band that I got in January.

7 or so Weeks left...

I find out if I got the job a few days before I leave for Disney.

Until then, I paid off my Disney Vacation. I also have events and stuff pretty much every weekend and many weekdays until the trip. I pushed myself a little too hard on Friday and got dehydrated/heat exhaustion. Which meant that I missed my Saturday events. I also have to take my fun car into the shop tomorrow to get a new switch and motor for my car door, so that sucks.

giphy.gif

If all goes to plan, I’ll be in Disney for 9 days very happy and planning to move again. I’ll also need a new car, so that’s cool.

If not, I’ll still be in Disney.

giphy.gif

45 Days until Disney World!
44 Days until I start my vacation!
41 Days until I find out about that job!

Nothing really new to report except a co-worker convinced me to pay for early check-in with Southwest... I haven't changed any ADRs or Fast Passes. I think those are pretty much set. If I can get a breakfast inside Epcot, great. If not, it's not a big deal. The Bon Voyage Breakfast is pretty awesome.

I think I should start packing since I won't have much free time from now until I leave for my trip. I'll be in Disney World before I know it!

Detour!

This weekend I went to my local Six Flags for their opening night of Fright Fest. It’s always a fun time, even though we’re always on the bottom of their priorities when it comes to rides, but they make an effort for Halloween.

I picked up my 2019 Cups! I also figured out that I should probably never eat fried food again.

F953DB92-9652-40EF-B635-2ACBE6C6015F.jpeg

They turned the que to an old Enterprise ride that they had to remove into a temporary bar. In the distance you can see the beginnings of Supergirl, which is an updated version. The old one ran out of parts.

I love our Carousel. It’s a beautiful work of art, but it’s poorly maintained. It’s actually older than the one at Magic Kingdom.

Overall I had a pretty good time. The haunted houses were fine, even though they didn’t change much from last year, but I do enjoy seeing the young inspiring actors.

I did appreciate them adding more light to the dark maze so I’m not running into walls and they decided against live hogs in one of their houses, which is actually appreciated. Those hogs smelled terrible and they just slept the entire time.

This is the last time I’ll be able to visit Six Flags before my Disney World trip. I was glad that I got to visit before they change over for Holiday in the Park and close my favorite roller coaster (a 1976 woodie designed by John Allen) for the year. It’s on the far side of the park, which is closed in November / December.

The Last Week Before the Trip

giphy.gif

So some big things are going to happen the week leading up to my trip. After all of this hard work, I'm going to find out if I landed this new job. Right now I'm the favorite, but that doesn't necessarily mean I'm going to get it.

I'll know before I go, but at this point, I'm ready to be done with all of the madness. Whatever happens, happens. I'm going to Disney World.

Before the Mouse - 11/9
  • Work
  • Get Dinner
  • Get to the Airport Marriott
  • Sleep ASAP
giphy.gif

So this is the Friday before I leave. I still need to make all the final arrangements with my pet sitters, but I'm sure it will all be fine. I'll get off work (probably a little early), grab a quick bite to eat and go. I'm staying in a pretty nice hotel and my stay includes parking for the trip. I'm going to get to bed as soon as I can because I have a very early flight.

I'm hoping to get to bed as early as possible the night before. It's going to be a big day.

giphy.gif

Day 1: Arrival Day - 11/10 (Saturday)
  • Red Bull & Protein Drink for Breakfast
  • 7:40 am flight
  • 10:55 am arrival at MCO
  • QS Lunch at All-Star Movies - Secret Menu Burger (Out of Pocket)
  • Head to Hollywood Studios
  • Fast Pass 1: Tower of Terror
  • Fast Pass 2: Rock n Roller Coaster
  • Fast Pass 3: Toy Story Mania
  • Head to Boardwalk
  • Dinner @ Flying Fish
  • Go to Epcot
giphy.gif

So I have to wake up around 5 am, which shouldn't be too much of a problem since I usually wake up at 5:30 am. I'll be wearing dark khakis and a polo since I'll be eating at a signature restaurant later in the day. For breakfast, it's a balanced diet of 2 Red Bulls and a Protein Drink.

giphy.gif

Let's go!

I have the first flight out to Orlando at 7:40 am and when I land it will be in a new time zone at around 10:55 am. Hopefully, I won't be too hungry because I want to get the Secret Menu item at All-Star Movies, The Cinnamon Bun Candied Bacon Burger. After I drop my stuff off at my room, it's off to Disney's Hollywood Studios. My first fast pass is for Tower of Terror, which I may or may not actually make. Next, it's Rock n Roller Coaster. Finally, I have one more fast pass for Toy Story Mania. My hope is that I'll be able to get in Slinky Dog Dash in-between Rock n Roller Coaster and Toy Story Mania.

giphy.gif

I'll have an hour or two after my last fast pass before I have to be at the Flying Fish. It should take me 15-20 minutes to walk there. I'm planning on having the pork belly appetizer, the wagyu filet mignon, and the chocolate hazelnut cake for dessert, but that's obviously subject to change. I don't drink alcohol or coffee, so I guess we'll see what kind of options they have for me.

After dinner, it's just a short walk to Epcot. Depending on how long it takes to eat, I'll have a few hours at the park. The main thing I want to do is Frozen Ever After.

With the first day done, it's time to head back to the All-Star Movies for bed. I plan to hit the other two parks on Sunday.

Day 2: Hopper Day / Water Rides - 11/11 (Sunday)
  • Red Bull & Protein Drink for Breakfast
  • Rope Drop at Animal Kingdom
  • Run to Flight of Passage
  • Fast Pass 1: Na'vi River Journey
  • Fast Pass 2: Kilimanjaro Safaris
  • Fast Pass 3: Kali River Rapids
  • Lunch at Sanaa
  • Flex - DVC Tour, check out Epcot or go straight to Magic Kingdom
  • Dinner at Be Our Guest (Out of Pocket)
  • Fireworks
My main goal for today is to ride the water rides. Specifically Kali River Rapids and Splash Mountain. I don't want to be walking around with wet socks, so today I'm planning my outfit accordingly. I'll be wearing a quick dry purple shirt, green swim trunks, green crocs, a red baseball cap and either my red magic band or my Ariel magic band. I'll also be rocking my Disney Princess backpack. That's right; it's an Ariel Disneybound Day!

giphy.gif

I'm planning for rope drop at Animal Kingdom, but it's not essential that I get there right as the park opens. I'm drinking my breakfast today, so I can do that as I go. I'd like to get there early enough to ride Flight of Passage before I use my Na'vi River Journey fast pass. If that doesn't happen, I won't be too upset because I have fast passes for it later in the week. I also have a fast pass for Kilimanjaro Safaris and Kali River Rapids. I'm going to take it easy today, so I'm going to be spending a lot of time watching the animals.

giphy.gif

I have to catch the bus around 12:30 pm to get to lunch at Sanaa at Animal Kingdom Lodge or I may just grab an Uber if I'm running late.

I love Sanaa, and I love Animal Kingdom Lodge. The last time I was there, I had a window seat and a bird came up and watched me eat my meal. I don't know what I want to eat, but I'm sure it will be fabulous.

After lunch, I'm not really sure what I want to do. I'd love to do another DVC tour because I am interested in becoming a DVC member, but I don't know if they'll have information about Rivera yet. I'm also committed to not buying any ownership interests until Lasseter is no longer employed by Disney. I also played around with the idea of going to Epcot for a little bit or going back to Animal Kingdom. The main thing is that I have to be at Magic Kingdom by 6:50 for my Be Our Guest reservation and I still want to ride Splash Mountain before the end of the day. I loved Be Our Guest's old dinner service because the Beast is the best. I'm interested to see what the new menu is like because last time the food was just ok.

giphy.gif

Honestly, this is probably my least planned day with the most flexibility. Today it's all about riding those water rides!

After the fireworks, I may stick around to shop and try to get to bed as soon as I can. Tomorrow is going to be a busy day with an early start.

Day 3: Epcot Day - 11/12 (Monday)
  • Uber to Boardwalk
  • Bon Voyage Adventure Breakfast
  • Rope Drop Epcot (Try to hit Test Track and Soarin)
  • Fast Pass 1: Spaceship Earth
  • Fast Pass 2: Livin' with the Land
  • Lunch at Garden Grill
  • Meet all the Princesses
  • Fast Pass 3: Frozen Ever After
  • Dinner at Le Cellier
  • Reflections of Earth
It's Epcot Day! Epcot is my least favorite park, so this is my only day completely dedicated to Epcot. Last time I went I spent a lot of time riding all of the attractions, so this time I think I will spend more time dedicated to exploring the World Showcase.

tumblr_nknwiwoSHI1qho2rco6_250.gif

Today is going to be a very dapper day! My Aurora Disneybound is complete with my bicolor dress shirt, purple tie, black vest, dark gray pants, and Spinning Wheel cufflinks. I know that the official dapper day is later in the week, but I'd rather avoid those crowds. It also just fit better for me.

I start my day with an 8 am breakfast with the best Princess on the Boardwalk. I'm going to take an Uber there instead of trying to catch a bus to DHS and walking. After the Bon Voyage Adventure Breakfast, I'm going to try to make it to Rope Drop and walk as quickly as possible to Test Track. A few hours later, I have a fast pass for Spaceship Earth. After that, I plan on checking out the aquarium. Right before lunch, I have a fast pass at Livin' with the Land. Then it's a character meal at Garden Grill. I love their pot roast!

After lunch, I'm going to explore the World Showcase and try to meet all the Princesses. The obvious number one priority is Aurora in France. Around 1:30-2:30, I have a fast pass for Frozen Ever After. As soon as I scan my magic band I will take a look and see what's available. I would like to see Mickey Mouse and Elsa sometime before I'm done.

I have dinner at Le Cellier. I was thinking about Yachtsman, but I really don't want to leave Epcot. I'm a huge fan of steak, so I'm interested to see what the place is like.

After dinner, it should be a good time to ride Soarin' or Test Track. I'm not sure if I want to see all of the Reflections of Earth show. If I'm lucky enough to have seen it on Saturday, I may just use that time to ride Frozen Ever After.

After that, I need to get back to All-Star Movies as soon as possible. Tomorrow is going to be a very long day.
