Weird sound/battery life on lightsaber?
So there's been a strange sound intermittently happening in our house. It's almost like an old dial telephone ring -- just once. We are thinking it's our lightsaber. While we were checking it this morning it made a sound similar (though not exactly like what we were hearing from a distance). It was off when it made this sound.
So do the lightsabers make a sound when their battery is almost dead? (The lightsaber does still turn on but after this sound we had to push the switch twice to get it to go).
And what is the battery life on the sabres? We're sort of annoyed if the battery is dead, as we only did the sabre workshop on Dec. 9. So barely a month and the battery is dead. We have barely had the sabre on in the month beyond Savi's and then a handful of times to show it off over the holidays. It was never on for more than about 2-3 minutes at a time. Not extended play or it lit up on display. On-off. That's about it. It's mostly just been sitting in the provided case in a closet for 'safe keeping'. Because where/how do you realistically display these things?
For anyone who's also had to change the batteries -- feedback about where/how to change them would be great. I'm about to look it up. EDIT: Researched and see that this is a problem plaguing the sabres. Disappointing. More disappointing our battery pack is WEDGED badly into the bottom component of the hilt. It's beyond stuck. We can't get it out. So anyone who's had experience with that and has any ideas on how to get the battery pack out -- it'd be much appreciated. Let's just leave it as the whole lightsaber 'experience' (couple with a crying baby were allowed into the workshop. Understand but made it really hard to hear and stay in the moment -- or feel the 'magic' and 'immersiveness' of the moment. Mixed feelings about the whole situation but there is part of us that feels for that price -- babies shouldn't be allowed it, 'rider swap' type situation should be allowed for those parents and/or they should've been escorted out immediately when the child started crying.) and the now the product itself has been a bit of a dud for our family.
And also just feedback on battery life after you put new batteries in would be appreciated. If these things are going to die even when not in use we'll likely just keep some batteries in stock for when it is wanted on and not bother with it otherwise.
You'd think for how much that 'experience' and product cost they could give you batteries that have power beyond a 'demo' mode life.
FWIW, one of our sabers makes an occasional noise even when turned off. Had them both in my small home office in their cases in a corner. For weeks, every time I’d get up out of my chair, I’d hear it. Almost sounds like audio / speaker feedback from a microphone. Lasts like 2-3 seconds.
I just figured it was one of the kids toys or something, but after awhile it started bugging me so I investigated. Sure enough, it was the saber. I have no clue why me getting out of my chair would trigger it nor can I explain why it still happens when turned off.
As others have mentioned, the included batteries are cheap.
