it's definitely one of those things where every kid is different. My oldest (she's 8) can be very sensitive and thing impact her but I think my son (who just turned 6 today) is better with just letting stuff go so in some ways I think I would be more ok with him watching Rogue One than my daughter even though he is younger

You know they have boarding schools for all these kids ya'll talk about...just sayin'.

I do wonder whether I will Loath Kylo Ren more after I see this. My sister's dog is known as a toy destroyer. I have purchased a dog toy in the image of Kylo so that he can destroy it for his pleasure and mine. I am rather shocked I did this. Usually I am live and let live kind of person. But Kylo has hit that bad button for me.

I will go see it because I like the heros and shall be rooting for the resistance.

Sign of a good franchise is when people love the bad guys and the good guys. I'm a bad guy lover through and through and can't wait for 2 viewings this weekend! Adore Adam Driver.

I just got out of the movie. I really really thought it was well done; not sure now to mask spoilers so I won’t include any but I thought there was some great character development and good twists throughout. Makes me feel confident in Rian Johnson’s directing ability

I was not a fan. I felt like they spent a lot of the last movie creating awesome beginnings for interesting backstories and plot threads that just didn’t go anywhere. It had moments where I was really impressed and thought it was going to make a turn around, but then they would back away from it. Blah. I wasn’t a Star Wars fan growing up but absolutely loved The Force Awakens. This one disappointed me.

I think that’s why this intriguing. The Force Awakens was very familiar and many criticized it as a remake. The Last Jedi was definitely not a remake and helps make this trilogy stand out on its own more.

I agree 100%. I went in fearing rehash and got nothing of the sort. I feel it’s better to view force awakens as what it was, a reboot, to appreciate this film

I think you’re misreading my post - I didn’t like Star Wars growing up, so familiarity definitely wasn’t the reason The Force Awakens appealed to me! But yes, I agree that some people will like it because the plot is more of a departure from the previous films. But it felt very inconsistent to me - particularly with Rey’s backstory, Luke’s attitude of changes of heart, Snoke. etc. Plus I really loved what they had going on with Kylo and Rey and was annoyed by all of the wasted time over characters parking badly at the casino. I realize that’s just my opinion, but it wasn’t what I was hoping for.

I loved the movie but I get what you are saying. I hated the answers for Rey’s backstory.
See I disagree because they could’ve made a cliche “kylo and Rey are twins” plot and they totally ditched that off. Of course kylo could’ve lied to her as a friend of mine pointed out but I don’t think so. I guess I just feel that the fact she’s a “nobody” makes her more special then if she was a part of this “royal bloodline” of the skywalks family

This was one of my main gripes - don’t set something up as a mystery just to say it never was one. And she was plenty old enough in those memories to have, well, remembered it - I was expecting a more complex explanation for why it only came back to her when she touched the lightsaber.

I’m not misreading it. I was the same way. I wasn’t huge into Star Wars when I was younger. I’d imagine you’ve seen the original ones by now. You should be able to see where it parallels.

I didn’t think she needed to be from the Skywalker family but to me saying she was from nobody’s was a thoughtless way to handle the backstory.

I can see your point. I guess I like that it fit with the idea of the movie that “rebellions are built by nobody’s”. Just because you aren’t perceived as special doesn’t mean you can’t change the galaxy. It’s campy as hell but I like it

Now with a certain someone gone and JJ Abrams back at the helm for 9 I’m interested to see how this ends.
