Staying at Grandstand and misc stuff

DS and I have been staying in a 1 BR at The Grandstand this week. We have really enjoyed this location, close to the Carriage House, a quick walk to the boat dock and the bus stop is first on the route. There is only building open so far but it appears another si very close and there is still construction on the remaining going on. We had to remind a couple of bus drivers about stopping at The Grandstand but otherwise transportation has been great.

We found it interesting that there has been a bus driver stationed at the Grandstand stop all week doing timings of the buses. Most have said it appears to be 15 - 20 minutes between buses to each park with the exception ofSunday they had a Studios and Magic Kingdom bus both at about 45 minutes. 1 driver made the comment that he could drive the entire route in reverse quicker than some drivers do running the route forward.

Another tidbit on the buses is they are getting ready to implement GPS tracking of all the buses and monitoring locations and times real time. They have been sending a couple of vans around all the routes testing to make everything is working as planned. They will also be adding some sort of spiel on the buses, we heard 1 version with the drivers giving it and another was sort of recorded message.

Well we're off to the Studios!

Thanks for the updates. Glad to hear they are going to start monitoring the buses. If you have a chance, could you post a few more pictures of the Grandstand area and post when you get home. I am sure we'd all love to see more pictures.

Actually 8100 is the first building open, we are in 8434. It looks like they are stocking the rooms in 8500 and have housekeeping carts in hallway, so it should be open soon. The remaining two should open in numerical order judging by the landscape and parking lots

The last two buildings will have the best golf course views. The one farthest from the pool will be the best of the two.

no, but they are getting closer to being sold out.

rie4630 - Our room had a view of the pool as most of that half of 8100 does. The remainder of the buildings will have some sort of view of the golf course and as tomandrobin indicates the farthest one would probably be the best. The 8500 looks out over the 'river' also.

They were stocking the 8500 building with high chairs and silverware so I would guess it to be open very soon. The other two buildings still appear to have a lot of construction activity.
