Well, that would depend. Mainly one, however...

Triggered has come back to Foscue!

Site 52. Right on river. This one has wooden deck.




Right on time. Barges rolling through with coal headed down to Mobile.

This particular location is located just above one of the locks on the Tombigbee River. Its called Lake Demopolis after the town that this CG is located in.

The campground is built around the flooded Foscue Creek and all the sites have access to the river so folks can bring their boats and tie them up at their sites.



The Coast Guard also has a facility here too.

My site is at the mouth of Foscue Creek. Thats the entrance to the left and the waterfall is in the background
I'll get some pics of the lower side tomorrow.




You can barely see the prior barge in the background. It is in the lock waiting to be lowered.

Looking upstream you can see Demopolis in the bend of the river. The water tower in background.


When I was in nursing school I was friends with a guy who lived here and grew up on the river. We had some great fishing trips. Some of the best were jug fishing at night.

Still here today.


Rode downstream about a mile. There is a park below the dam. From there you can see the falls. River is slightly up from average.

Circled in pink is the shore end of the lock . You can't see other wall from this angle.

I forgot to mention. This trip isn't just us. We brought Huey, Dewey, and Louie along with us. Cat toys everywhere. They do stop for naps though.

I love how locks work. When at Disney we go to Cocoa where the cruise ships are and watch the boats enter and leave the locks.

Yes. When I get home I'll upload pics from few years ago here at lock.

Tonight barges are rolling through. They light whole place up. This one fired up light as soon as lock opened.






Okay, this one got interesting. In next pic you see it going by and strong light beam shing upstream. There was a fishing boat coming into river from my left and he was shing his pitiful Qbeam on the barge house. This is illegal.


The captain countered by turning one of his main beams on the fishing boat. You now see beam shing to my left.


It was enough said.

He rolled on by.

Home and unpacked. Our next trip is to GSP in July.

Just some comparison pics from the river. A few years ago @SouthAlabama5er camped there with us and my oldest DD, he, and I went bike riding. Near the Coast Guard area is a large picnic region and benches close to the water. Oldest DD standing on one of the benches then:

Okay, @snowmedic , since you like locks so much. Back 3-4 years at same place I was lucky enough to have a man who allowed us to tour the lock there. He let the kids primarily. He was great, told them all about it, how it worked.









When he opened up the pumps on the upper end to fill the lock the whirlpools were very impressive




And just like that, the barge was raised




Afterwards he let the kids close the gates back and we walked over to the falls. I'll post those next.

he was steadily educating the kids on how things worked as well telling them about old Indian settlement that was discovered on the other side of the river during the excavation for the dam.

That was really cool of him to the the kids control the gates. I have only seen small boats go through the Canaveral locks, nothing big, but we still go every time we are there.

Working on some things to keep my mind occupied. After our last trip with kittens we made a few alterations in order to give an out of site place for their bed as well as litter box

Under the bunk beds is a storage compartment. You have to raise up lower bed to access it. There was only a 9x17" thin panel blocking it from main room. I tapped that out and held onto it. I can put it right back later if needed.



This is the view from above. Its pretty good sized.


I had some leftover oak wood from some cabinets I built so I stained and sealed it then cut it down to right size.


The camera flash shows more shine off the fresh sealer. The color actually blended quite well. This pic didn't do it justice.


Now I went looking for an access opening...


I made the cutout.


The finished product.


It isn't centered for a reason. The furnace is that opening on the right. The flexible duct for the heater vent comes out just to right of cost entrance and goes up. I had to avoid it.

Cats have taken to ig well. We have them an oversized bed under there as well as a tall litter box. We'll keep an air freshener under there to help but DW always uses plugin freshners when we camp.
