The Disney Wish, what are you wishing for?

See, I don't know why the rules aren't being more aggressively enforced now and having never smelled a whiff of smoke, I'm shocked that they aren't. Above, I hear about people constantly bothered by neighbors smoking on balconies, why haven't those people been chucked off the ship at the next port? (Or they can go directly in the drink as far as I'm concerned.) Why aren't the pot smokers handed over to the authorities at the next port for drug smuggling?

I think Carnival just updated their policies about a year ago to make clearer that they reserve the right to “chuck off” a stateroom party for smoking infractions.

I’m guessing that option has always been in the contract, but generalized under the right to boot a guest for any repeated infraction of the rules

The fact that CCL felt the need to reinforce the point re: smoking, jack up the penalties and explicitly mention they could kick off your entire party suggests (to me, at least) that it’s a continuing problem.

I think the main issues with enforcement are:

a.) sometimes you can’t tell where the smoke is coming from (i.e., the wind could be blowing it from more than one direction), so you don’t know which stateroom to report;
b.) the evidence can be disposed of quickly if a CM comes a-knockin’, and there isn’t much on the verandahs to absorb incriminating odors; and
c.) I’m not sure how well a smoke detector would work in an open-air environment with a decent breeze, or how sensitive it would have to be to pick up cigarette/cigar smoke (vs. the heavier “something is on fire that shouldn’t be” smoke).

Great list, especially these:

My "Wish" list:

  • An added specialty restaurant (Palo is still a must to stay, however Remy can go)...either a traditional or Brazilian-style steakhouse
  • Larger pools and more hot tubs...that actually stay open late (especially in the adults-only area)
  • A buffet that stays as a buffet for dinner
  • Coke Freestyle machines replacing the regular drink stations on the pool deck and also added to other locations. Plus additional self-serve coffee stations throughout the ship so everyone doesn't have to trek up to the pool deck in the morning for coffee.
  • This can be on existing ships also, but a midnight movie on Funnelvision on most, if not all, nights.

I don't understand why they don't have funnelvision late at nights... it's so popular with so many cruisers.
Also, the adult pools should be 24 hrs with an obvious break for cleaning... I'd love to go in the hot tub late after cocktails.
A buffet for dinner would be great but then the MDR's would be half empty

Seems like a no-brainer. They have absolutely nothing else going on. What frustrates me is the last move in the Buena Vista theater usually starts about 15 minutes before the "late" performance in the lounge ends (usually around 11:00 - 11:15pm), so you can't go from one to the other. So, a midnight movie out on deck (I've suggested they could show a different Marvel movie each night - there's plenty of them - and call it "Marvel at Midnight"), would be awesome.

1000%. My #1 pet peeve with DCL. The pools close ridiculously early. Adult pools definitely should be 24 hrs. I believe the family pools should be also, but I can understand if they closed 11pm or midnight - but not 8pm like they do on some nights.

I'm not sure about that. I think most would still go to the MDR. I'm not sure if I would personally go to the buffet for dinner. On other cruise lines, i do, but probably wouldn't on DCL. We do enjoy the MDRs. However, we have 2 teenagers, and sometimes they would like to skip the MDR dinner and I'd rather they go to the buffet as opposed to Flo's. Same goes for the night the wife & I go to Palo. They are not going to go to a sit-down dinner by themselves (be it in the MDR or the Cabanas sit-down dinner).

The late night pools would require lifeguard coverage. My guess is that's why they don't go all night.

I love the idea of Marvel midnight. Maybe be brave and do one "new" feature as a deck movie at night.

My wishes for the Disney Wish:
-Better coffee
-Option for fresh squeezed orange juice
-Smoothie station
-Thicker bacon
-Bigger pools
-Interactive, hands-on cooking classes
-Pottery or painting class so I can take home a souvenir with a story
-Photography class that takes a tour around the ship to teach photography techniques
-Chef's table at Palo or Remy (do they already offer this?)
-Windows in Concierge lounge like on the Wonder
-Free freshly popped popcorn for all!

I guess why not? Celebrity’s casinos are smoke free. If some people like to gamble and DCL makes more profit, in theory holding or even dropping prices, who does it hurt? Some families may sail DCL just for their kids and not be all into Disney themselves so this would be something extra for them to do. If it is put in an out of the way spot people may never see it. Also you and others like us can choose not to go there.

I do believe that for certain markets this is a must, so not sure if they would add it because of that.

Interested to see what it ultimately is, may lure us back for a cruise.
We grew up, and still live, in Nevada. We cruise disney in part because they do not have casinos, and are happy to pay DCLs premium prices because of it. If DCL decides to become just one of many instead of the one unique line out there, we would probably opt to cruise for 1/3 to 1/2 the price elsewhere since we would have to put up with the casino anyway. It may draw you back, but it would definitely drive us away.

I would like to see an extension of time to use your OBB - a move to 36 months would have us cruising more. Maybe with more ships.... but I doubt it!

I don't think the adult pool has a life guard, I don't remember ever seeing one.
I definitely want later pool times, but when I was on the Wonder during the summer, I never once observed the adult pool or hot tubs open without a lifeguard present.
