The official Quebec, Saguenay and Baie-Comeau cruise ports thread!

Here is Montreal... If you want to add a day or two to your cruise.

The pictures with the chinese lanterns and beautiful floral sculptures (Mosaicultures) are from special events held once in a while at the Jardin Botanique. I'll be sure to let you know if they are happening this year or next year if you plan to come.

As a landmark, you'll notice the bridge. This is a picture taken from a cruiseship in the Old Port of Montreal. I notice that I suck at taking pictures from my hometown. Can't believe I have so little pictures from the Old Port! Which is ironic because it's my favorite part of the town.

The weird white structure with all the lights is the Casino of Montreal. It's nice. I'm not into gambling but it's pretty and they have great shows. The island where it is situated is the same as La Ronde theme park and the Jean-Drapeau Park (there is also a beach there). It's also one of my favorite places in Montreal. Easy to get there by subway.

You'll find a picture of one of my favorite places Cardinal Tea Room which is one of the cafés with personality I was talking about from the Mile-End.

The lake (Lac des Castors) and the great view picture were taken from the Mont-Royal Park, which was created by the same guy who created Central Park.

They recently created an observatory from Place Ville-Marie (one of the tallest buildings) and made something that would compare to Top of the Rock in NYC. Haven't tried it yet but it seems nice.

Montreal is currently under refurbishment which should be pretty much done by next year. If you plan to come, use the public transportation (very easy), otherwise, you'll go nuts.

Here is Mont-Tremblant if you want to add a day or two to your cruise to Quebec...

I am postly pictures taken in the Village Piétonnier (which means you can only walk there... But no worries, you can park near.) it's a village they created near a mountain. It's very popular during winter for those who like skiing.

During fall, it's a nice place if you like hiking... Or just enjoy a nice ambiance. The colors are amazing during fall.

I posted pictures from my two favorites restaurants over there which are Laurent Louis (french bistro) and La Savoie (if you've never experienced "raclette" this is the place to go). All restaurants are in cute little "shacks".

It's a nice place to spend the day. image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

We did HAL out of Quebec -- even got to overnight there onboard -- and thought it was one of the most beautiful cities I've seen. Such a great experience -- y'all will love it.

We drove one-way to Montreal and stayed there three nights, too. Another gorgeous city that we thoroughly enjoyed. And the ride from Montreal to Quebec was so pretty and peaceful. I'd love to do it again.

I know the cruise is still very far out but we are doing research now. We will be flying in to Quebec either a day or 2 before the cruise and looking for a nice hotel to stay at in the city. Price isn't really an issue as it probably will be our 1 and only time there. Thanks

If price is no issue, go for Château Frontenac.

Wow Quebec is beautiful! I'm going to save some if this information, even if we don't do a Quebec cruise. We have been thinking of driving down this or next summer. This is great, thank you!

I'm sorry I don't have any pictures of Quebec and Saguenay to show but I assure you it's nice and beautiful.

What a beautiful city. I'm booked on the TA out of London, but I'm seriously thinking about switching to one these cruises. I've been to London a few times and I've never been to Quebec. I plan on booking it while on the Wonder in September, and then I'll take some time to decide between the two. My first choice would be Quebec, but I need to work out the travel details. I'm not concerned about the price going up over the next couple of months. I think the difficulty of getting to and from Quebec will keep the price of these cruises pretty stable.
Thanks for starting this thread. It's very helpful.

It's the landmark of Quebec. So much history over there. Gorgeous hotel.

We spent a good part of a day inside there and enjoying the ambiance and decor and shopping. Our ship was docked overnight in Quebec and our room faced the Chateau -- it was gorgeous at nighttime with the lights and all.

I would love to know when they have the festival with the lanterns and all shown in your first picture. That's just so pretty!

Thanks for the link to the thread. I had no idea this was here. My wife and I are booked on the NYC to Quebec 2018. I just started a meet thread in the cruise meet area for this one since I did not see a link to a cruise meet and wanted to start some chatter.

We booked this for several reasons, in no particular order of importance.
1) This is on the Magic and neither or us have been on the Magic. It will mean the Grand Slam for my wife (all four ships) and we will both be Gold by this sailing (my wife already is).
2) We love NYC. I'm going again this November for business, but we usually extend a few days to see some shows and explore the city. This will be another great excuse to see the city.
3) Fall Foliage. Something my wife has always wanted to see. We had some beautiful views in Boston last year in early November. Hoping that late September isn't too early.
4) Quebec. We've been to Niagra Falls and have sailed to/from Vancouver a few times, but haven't been anywhere near this part of Canada.
5) My wife will be celebrating her Birthday while on this cruise.

We had heard from someone that we could consider taking the train back into NYC. I see a lot of discussion about trains into Montreal, but wondering about train into NYC. I know it would be long. We've taken long train trips before so that won't bother us. We did do the train from Seattle to Vancouver for a sailing out of Vancouver. We've also taken a train from Los Angeles to Portland and onward to eastern Washington. I've also taken a train from Los Angeles to New Mexico. We do enjoy train travel, but don't like changing trains a lot to do it.

Looking forward to the trip, even though it is one year away.

Regarding 3) In Montreal, we started seeing some yellow on the branches. Quebec being a bit more colder, even though it will be a bit early in the season, you have strong chances to get some of the Fall Foliage. It's hard to predict with certainty but you might get lucky. :)

I am glad to see this thread! My family and I are booked on the NY-Quebec sailing next year. It will be DH, DD11 (at sail time), DS8 (at the time) and myself.

Does anyone know about DCL transfers to Montreal. According to their website they have transfers from Montreal to Port. I would assume they would have transfers the opposite directions. No info on hotels yet, but generally Disney likes to pick the most expensive hotels in a city to contract with.

Cruiselines have had to miss ports and alter itinerary's in Quebec this year because of speed restrictions. I guess there's whales in the St Lawrence river that have been hit by ships. I read this on cruise critic.

Correction Gulf of St Lawrence. After I typed that I started wondering why whales were in a river. It's late.
