The we loooooove Club Wyndham Bonnet Creek Part 4

Are any of the buildings being renovated now? Last year we stayed at building 3 and loved the location.
I just came back on Saturday and at least on the outside (perhaps inside too), tower 3 was under construction. They were working on reinforcing the balconies. This also mean that only 9 holes of the mini golf course were open.

I have stayed in Tower 4 twice, and Tower 6 this past visit. For me personally (and having kids), Tower 4 was a better more central location for us.

A couple technical questions:

I haven't seen any posts in the last few years talking about USB jacks. Have they increased the amount of USB jacks in the rooms? Any USB-C jacks?

What's the TV situation regarding streaming? Do I need to bring my own Roku?

Thanks.

I have been home a week and was in tower 6. I had brought our Amazon Firestick and yes we did use it. It was a little tricky moving the TV to get behind it in the corner to insert in TV (and tower 6 seems to be more updated than tower 4), but we did it. My husband specifically did it, so I am not sure on total available USBs. I do recall the lamps in the bedrooms having USB ports in them, in tower 6 anyway.

Wifi can be hit or miss. We had an 8 day trip over Christmas last year. The first 4 nights wifi was good and we could stream. The second 4 nights (which was the period from Christmas - New Years, so peak occupancy, the wifi was **** and we could not stream.

So what exactly is on the TV nowadays? Is it local cable, or is it one of those dreadful hotel-specific channel packages where you can never find what you want?

I think it was a mix? There were definitely some hotel channels, but the rest seemed like local cable to me.

Has anyone been recently that can speak on the construction?
We stayed there March 20 - 23, 2024, so just a couple of weeks ago. We were in tower 2 which is near the mini golf and there was construction work being done on the exterior of tower 2. The construction didn't really impact us other than the mini golf was closed, and you had to walk out under a construction passage when going out the back towards the lake. We never noticed any noise while we were in our room. It looked like they were close to being done with that building actually.

Are regular one bedrooms scattered in all buildings? I’m going to request Tower 4 lake view and wondered what my chances are. I’m checking in Saturday morning about 10.

Just get back from a week long stay. Some notes, in the unlikely case someone actually searches for this info:

USB jacks: only two USB-A jacks in an outlet in the kitchen. Regular outlet plugs (not USB) are at the base of all the bedside table lamps. So, bring your own jacks. Especially if you have a bunch of the infernal MB+s to charge! I was in a room in Tower 5, which I think was renovated within the last 6 years. Not having more USB jacks, including a couple USB-C, is pretty lame.

TV: has cable, but the TV guide is incredibly slow to load, and navigation is clumsy, so basically worthless if you want to watch live TV (or want to spend 10 minutes just trying to figure out what channel you want). The TV worked well with a Roku, but still it seemed like it was using older technology (not a "smart" TV). Not a big deal, though, as we were on our third day before we even tried the TV! 😂

WiFi: generally OK, but dropped out now and then. Not consistently strong. Luckily wasn't an issue at 7AM! Cell service was good enough to handle any "emergencies".

The kitchen works and is clean, but really dated. So dark. Again, I thought this room was updated in the past few years. We still had a jetted tub in the master bedroom. Weren't they getting rid of those? Maybe my room wasn't updated.

Everything else was great and what I would expect at a 4* hotel.

I got a very good rate through Vacation Upgrades, so I was more than satisfied. I don't know if I'd stay here next time, though. The renovation at Sabal Palms looks really nice, and when I checked, would only have been around $400 more than my very low WBC rate. Also, unless I'm going to Universal, Windsor Hills will probably be my next offsite stay.

Oh, here is the link for the activities schedule and other general resort information, including a map and pretty much any other info you might want. Again, no one will actually search for this, and will ask "does anyone have the most recent activity schedule???" Even if my post is on the same page when they ask. But here it is anyway. The activity calendar is in the first link, "Resort Activities Guide":

Happy to answer any more specific questions.

Do you know…Are coffee filters still cones? Or are they basket shaped?

in Tower 5 as well. We are enjoying the resort but units in Tower 5 really need updating. Like Boston Ed, we thought the cable tv was very sporadic. Bathrooms still have the huge tub and vanity countertops are so worn. Hopefully, this will be the next tower for a facelift!

I believe the renovated rooms have the gray tones to the paint. We are currently in tower 3 in what looks to be a renovated room. Though it sometimes smells like cat pee, especially when returning to the room. They wanted to put us in building 2 where the current construction was but we resisted. Our room still has a tub n the bathroom, but it doesn't look like it has jets but rather just a bubbler holes around the bottom edge. I did notice that the bedside alarm clock has two USB-A ports on it.

I really don't like the need to scan your keycard to just get into your building. What a pain when carrying back a few bags or groceries. I always forget until I get to the door then cuss as I dig out the room key.

I like the fact that you need to key to get in the building. It's nice to know that the people who are in the building are supposed to be there.

Last trip we did a family trip and had a 4 bdrm presidential. It was amazing, but I agree the resort rooms need a refurb on their regular rooms. This coming trip we will be back to reality with a 2 bdrm.

Perhaps, but the issue then is you have tailgaters making others uncomfortable holding the door for them or them just coming in behind others that used their own key to open the door. Had this yesterday. Kids were running to the door in front of us but had no key. The rest of the family was lagging behind. They just grabbed the door after we had opened it. It creates awkward situations.
