They Don't Eat Hash Browns in Princessland - May 14 COMPLETE! 2/8 pg. 73

I'm soooo happy to hear that Popadon is doing better. I'll be praying that he'll be able to make it to your half marathon. I'd feel the same way as you. I'd want to know that at the end of the race, my family is waiting :goodvibes

Love that shot of your DM looking out of the boat with the castle in the background...and her Chanels on! :cloud9:

Oh my gosh that coffee image. Couldn't be truer!

"Don't tell him Carlos! Don't be cheeekin!":rotfl2:

Wow that cake looks magnifent!!

Yay, ready for highlights!

We're hoping that he continues to heal at the rate that he is and that he's all good to come along.

Awww thanks! Oh yeah, with her Chanels on. :lmao:

That cake is really amazing, it's sooooo good. I love it.

Always good when it is a smooth flight home.

You are right, you really can't go wrong with coffee and POTC. I wish I could start all of my days that way.

The chowder is really good! I love clam chowder, so I enjoy tasting different ones. Thankfully Pop was kind enough to give me a bite.

You know, the Plaza fries disappointed me slightly last time, but only because they were over salted! It was sad. :rotfl2:

The salad is super yummy! I highly recommend it.

OMG, they really are related then! What is that?!

Wait...you don't like toffee?! That's okay I still love you. ;)

Pouting Popadon! I would so fall for it though. I really hope he feels 100% soon, not just for himself, but so he can cheer you on on your big day! :cheer2:

Yep, I made an Lunch ADR at LTT solely for dessert as well! It is one of those things that actually lives up to the hype! HM is in a perfect location as you need to sit in the dark for a while to digest a LTT meal!

Yeah, I'm immune to the pouting Popadon and I don't fall for it anymore. :lmao:

The dessert is the entire reason to book a reservation there!

So glad Popadon is getting stronger and yes add me to the list of those hoping he can make the PHM trip. :goodvibes

I LOVE resort check in and luggage delivery on the way in with DME. I do remember the very last time for each and so happy that I could say never again.
The never ending snaking line WITH luggage at MCO? No Thanks.

Made good use of the last day. Sorry about Mine train being a no go.

LTT is still on my to-do list especially the Ooey Gooey. :goodvibes

Okay I'm an idiot and just saw your ticker. You're coming to cheer at the PHM!? Yayayayayay!!!!

I haven't had luggage delivered with DME for quite some time, but I love the pickup at the resort! Makes everything so much easier.

You definitely have to go to LTT soon. It's so good at lunch time.

Ho my god, the toffee cake. Every time I see it, I start to tear up with joy and lust. So. GOOD. Next time I'm getting my own. It is -- hands down -- the best at the parks. I really like desserts that have a balance of sweet and salty, creamy and crunchy. It's perfect.

Popadon is hilarious as always. Glad he's feeling better!! Hoping he'll be able to be at the finish line. I've only run two halfs, and my Pop hasn't been at either... But he CALLED me at mile 9 once and I think it helped me to finish!

You are so right about that. It is just the absolute best! And I'm a huge dessert eater on vacation, so you know that's saying a lot.

I think knowing he'll be on the other side of the finish line will be comforting. I really hope he can make it.

Can't believe this one is over all ready. So glad that Popadon is doing better. I have my fingers crossed that he can go with you in February. Your TR won't be the same without him. :rotfl2:

I loved all of the AOA pictures. I really need to get by there someday to visit.

I know, the TR's aren't the same without him. Thankfully on this one you'll have my brother and my nephew to keep you busy, which is pretty entertaining too.

Nothing like MK to finish off you last day at WDW. I'm not a fan of coffee (please don't disown me. :rotfl:), it tends to make me sick, but those drinks look so good.

Scurvy Scum! I took two friends in 2011 that had not been to Disney. One of them picked up that phrase when we rode Pirates and we used it for a long time after coming home.

Haha, it's totally okay that you don't like coffee, it's not for everyone. Especially if it makes you sick.

Scurvy scum is one of my favorite lines! Avast ya scurvy scum! makes me crack up.

Lunch at Liberty Tree is soooo good! I'm not sure I would like that dessert you got, but I do love the Martha Washington cake.

That sucks that you waited 40 minutes and then had to leave the line. I've had that happen once or twice and it's a real bummer.

I haven't had the cake before, because I'm not a huge fan of regular cake. This dessert though is perfect for me. LOL.

It was a bummer, but we still had an amazing trip, so it was all good.

I'm so glad Pop is on the mend. Have been thinking of you all a lot. I completely understand your selfish thoughts of wanting him to come on the trip. I hope he is able to!

Great resort pics.

Your pics from LTT are hysterical!! Glad you found a new fave dessert!

Ugh what a bummer not getting to go on SDMT after all that waiting.

Successful travel is always a good thing. Can't wait to ready your wrap up post :)

We're really glad he's on the mend too. Thank you so much for thinking about us during this time.

Hahaha, our pictures at restaurants are when we get the most out of hand. We just can't keep it together.

I am glad he has the recliner and hope that soon he can get back to a normal sleep position, that is so difficult. Outstanding on the stairs, that is great news.

I will be thinking of you guys on Friday!

Fun update even if it is tinged with the last day sadness.

I really do want a night at AoA one of these days, it is so cute.

I love the ferry, it is peaceful. Much more of a zen start to a MK morning or day versus the monorail. Unless you are late for an ADR that is, then it's very high on the stress scale!

LTT lunch looks great, one of these days I'll try that dessert. I do love toffee....just am not a huge sweets person so never order it. Is it wrong that you burger looks delicious and it's only 7am here?

I'm actually really glad he has the recliner too! Makes things easier for him. I would feel terrible otherwise.

That's exactly how I feel about the ferry vs the monorail. Much more relaxed way to get yourself to the park. I like to take it once in a while rather than just always heading for the monorail.

I love sweets, they're my weakness, so on vacation I go all out because I try really hard not to eat much of them at home. It's worth a try one time. :thumbsup2

Ha! Tangled Tinkle! I'm totally going to use that line on my daughter when we are there this summer. It also sounds like there should be a dance...the Tangled Tinkle Dance. Same as the regular tinkle dance, but just a few more complicated dance moves added onto the usual bouncing up and and down and constant feet shifting.

The toffee cake looks amazing. Unfortunately, I won't be able to try it because LTT is down for refurbishment July through November! :sad2:

Hahahaha, yes! That's exactly what it is for me every since Rob (DisneyKid4Life) called it that in one of his TR's.

NNNNOOOOOOOOO!!!! OMG, you saying that it's down and you can't have the toffee cake just broke my heart. :rotfl:

:banana::woohoo::yay: Yay for improving Popadon!

Wonderful last update. ANd now you've got me looking at my schedual thinking of squeezing in another adr! :rotfl:

We're super glad about it.

Hahahah, whoops sorry. :rotfl2: Don't want to further complicate anything.

So glad your dad is continuing to improve. Sending :tink: he gets to come with you next month!

I love your dress. You always look so cute!
Thanks for another great TR.:)

He's getting better every day. Hopefully he makes it down there with us, I know he's super excited to be reunited with you guys!

Awww, thanks so much!

I remember going to LTT a few years back and all the desserts were shrinking. Looks like they got back to normal size again! :cool1: All your food looks delish! And that burger! Is it wrong that I am now craving a burger? :rotfl2:

Popadom still has another 4 weeks to recoup. Remember - the first two weeks at home are THE WORST! No one feels good. No one sleeps right. Is your dad still taking oxy? is it Oxycodone or Percocet? If he's off narcotics or if he's just taking oxy have him take Tylenol 650mg - 1mg twice a day, no matter what. It really will help with the stiffness and soreness. Do that for a week or so to help get him over the hump. Tylenol actually works well for the bone pain. Motrin works well for the inflammation, but I don't want to recommend that without knowing more about his other meds and medical condition.

Pop's surgery hasn't even been two week ago. Give him a chance. Wait two more weeks before you make any decisions and tell him to hang in there. It's all normal and it will get better! :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

Sadly that is a massive dessert and even sadder yet I polished the whole thing off myself. :rotfl2:

It's totally okay to crave a burger whenever you want! :thumbsup2

He's getting better every day so I'm super optimistic. The fact that he's doing so well amazes me, but that's because the experience is all new to me. Thank you so much for all of your help throughout all of this. The support has been amazing.

First, I'm thrilled that your Pop got everything diagnosed, repaired, and is now on his way to recovery! The first weeks after heart surgery are a pain in the rear (I know - I've had five of them!), but your Pop is a tough and spirited guy so I'm sure he'll do great! Many, many good vibes and healing thoughts to your whole family. :goodvibes

Now, onto Disney chatter...

I'm staying at Pop for one night in May and am hesitating on whether or not to try the tie-dyed cheesecake. I've heard raves about it for years, but the new version looks so darn pitiful... :sad2:

Departure day is always such a bummer. I'm glad you got to experience AOA - you got so many fantastic pictures!

Isn't Liberty Tree Tavern just the BEST?! It's become one of our must-do ADRs. My sister adores that burger and fries, and we BOTH adore that Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake! I'm drooling just thinking about it! I'm glad you had a chance to try it out - I bet this will become a must-do ADR for you, too! ::yes::

I'm so so glad to hear Popadon's doing better. I'll be sending good thoughts your way Friday!!!

Leaving Disney is the actual worst. I get sad just thinking about it.

I LOVE YOUR DRESS!!! It is so cute!

We're glad that he's doing really well. He's progressing more and more each day.

It really is pretty bad. But I think getting home and then having that thought "did I actually just go on vacation?" is the worst. :rotfl2:

Thanks! I love that one. One of my originals from Hot Topic. Hasn't been available in forever, so I lucked out!

Mmm your drink looks delightful.

"Fried" and "cheese" are excellent reasons for ordering the fried cheese. It looks delicious.

That dessert looks UNREAL. Excuse me while I go add "eat lunch at LTT" to my list of priorities in life.

Aw man, so disappointing about the Mine Train. At least you got to see the Tangled Tinkle Toilets/Princess Potties/Royal Flushes before you left.

Girl fried and cheese is more than enough for me to order anything.

You have to eat there! Next trip, you have to go out of your way to eat there. Lunch though. It's only there at lunch.

I might have licked the iPad at the LTT desserts. GET IN MY BELLY

Sorry you didn't get n 7dmt and that you had to leave. Wahhhhh

Also- soooooooo glad you pop is doing better! Yippee and prayers for your upcoming race. :yay:

For real though. Every time I see that dessert, that's how I feel.

We're hoping that he's going to be okay and that he'll come along. I have a pretty good feeling.

Awww... Bummer that you didn't get in your Mine Train ride to end the trip. However, I think that meal at LTT might have made up for it. Your meal looked delicious!

Sorry to see this trip end, but I'm glad you still have another one going, with more to come! Also glad to hear that Popadon is feeling a little better. Hoping he's feeling much better soon!

It was depressing! Not the way I wanted to end my trip, but you know. It is what it is.

I'm a sad state of affairs, I always have another TR going on. :rotfl2:

So excited to hear about Popadon's progress!!! It's amazing how the body can heal after something like that. I'm really hoping that he gets to make your PHM trip, because having him there at the finish line will be an experience like no other! (My Dad still makes the 45 minute trip on race days at Disney, even though he only stays for about an hour in the family reunion area, and it means so much to have him there).

I've never eaten at LTT either, but it is now definitely on my short list of places to go next time! We usually stick to QS or no-ADR necessary places for lunch, but this looks like a plan-ahead-worthy lunch! :)

It really is amazing how fast the body can heal. I've been amazed throughout this entire process.

That's so cool that your Dad always makes the trip to be there. You're right, it really does mean a lot.

Make sure you go! It's a really good lunch and a good price too.

So glad to hear that Popadon is doing well. I will definitely keep him in my prayers though

You are a master at TRs for sure. I'm having a hard enough time keeping two active.

I haven't felt like much of a master lately, but I'll get back into the swing of things.

AoA is so beautiful. I want to stay there someday too.

Oh my goodness, the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake is sooo good. In September we went to Liberty Tree Tavern for the first time too and Marie was there for the same reason you were. Just for dessert.

It's a really nice resort. I may be making reservations at one of the values for the half marathon next January, and I'm tossed between AoA and Pop. I'll decide when the time comes I suppose.

It is so good right?! The whole reason to make that reservation.

Oof not cool that you didn't get to ride the Mine Train. Did they give you any fastpasses or anything to make up for being escorted out? I guess not since you left afterward. What a bummer.

Good trips home are always better than bad ones, at least.

It definitely wasn't cool at all, but we were okay with it in the end. I just was irritated more at the waste of 40 minutes.

Hope Papadon is continuing to recover well. I'm sure you all,are taking great care of him and probably taking a few pictures he would soon like to forget ; )

We broke our proverbial ooey gooey toffee cake cherry last trip too and it certainly won't be the last time. We came for the ooey gooey, we loved the ooey gooey, too much to bathe in it?

Thanks for letting us come along on what is always a fun filled trip. Can't wait for the wrap up

Hahaha, amazingly enough I haven't taken any pictures of him lately. Soon when he's more in the mood I think.

It's so good, right? I can't even handle the goodness and yumminess.

First off, I hope Pop’s recovery is going well and that he gets to come along to see you run. :goodvibes

Ha, if I can (sort-of) handle doing two TRs and a PTR at once, you can certainly do 3. :rotfl: ::yes::

Love wandering around AoA…wish I’d gotten to do more than a few minutes of it. One night there would be great!

Thanks so much! I'm hopeful.

I'm going to try my best to do three, because I don't have a choice. Hahaha, I just don't want to skip any of my trips!

Drunken cats? :confused3 :rotfl2:

Never been to LTT, but that cheese and dessert both sound great! One of these days it will make the list. (And I totally understand the cheese thing – I was born in WI and therefore have the “cheese gene” :thumbsup2). Now I am really fighting myself so that I don’t make an 18th ADR for May (I need to slash like ½ as is). :sad2:

Ugh, 40 minutes and you just have to leave?! No ride or FP? Bummer. :sad1:

Looking forward to the highlights!

Drunken cats! :rotfl:

See, you get the cheese thing! Even though I wasn't born in Wisconsin, in Illinois where I live, we're really similar. I think it's the proximity to Wisconsin. Plus my Mom is European where they love all things cheese.

Nope, we got nothing, we just had to leave the line. :sad1:

Hi! I just wanted to say that I absolutely loved your TR! I read the whole thing in one day! :thumbsup2You have a wonderful family and your trip seemed so memorable and fun! I loved the resorts you stayed at throughout your time in Disney.

I am also a fan of Hot Topic clothing and accessories! :thumbsup2 A recent discovery, but one can say I've become a bit obsessed.:goodvibes

I look forward to reading more of your awesome reports and I can't wait to hear how the marathon goes for you! You'll be awesome!

-Alison (FantasiaMagic) :wizard:

Wow! That's totally awesome and totally impressive that you read it in one day!

Hot Topic is a bit of a newer discovery for me too, I've only been buying for a few years, but I wish I had found it sooner! Love the stuff.

Thanks so much! I'm pretty confident that I'll be okay on the run.

Thanks so much! Wow five of them! I'm pretty confident he'll be doing great in no time.

I still recommend trying the tie dyed cheesecake because it's still incredibly tasty. The disappointment is just he fact that it's smaller than it used to be.

I love LTT! I tried to squeeze it in for February, but I got nixed! Stupid stupid people. :rotfl2:

Wanted to update about Popadon. He is doing very well. He had his first night in bed last night. YEAH he was very excited and slept much better. He was supposed to see the surgeon today but we got a call that he had two open heart surgeries, one today and one tomorrow, so the appointment is now for Thursday afternoon. We will check to see if he will be allowed to fly if not then we will drive to WDW.

Great news!!!! Sounds like good progress. I hope all goes well with the surgeon and he can keep the Thursday Appointment. Sounds like you will get to WDW one way or another :)

So glad to hear of the quick recovery. And I bet he slept well if it was the first night back in an actual bed..funny how you never realize how much you truly love your bed until you can't sleep in it. Also love the determination for WDW

It is good progress, we're really happy so far.

When is the man actually behaving himself? LOL.

He slept pretty well it's still a little bit of a struggle for him to sleep, but he's doing all right.

Final Recap

Hi guys! I am so sorry that I've been such a terrible DISer lately. I promise that after this half marathon is finished, I will be much better. Good news, is that Pop was cleared to be able to drive to Disney. While he can't fly, as the doctor wants him to wait another three weeks to do that, he was okayed to drive with Mom down. I am still flying, as I don't have extra time to take off. We will be down in WDW on Tuesday February 17th, so if you are friends with me on Facebook or follow me on Instagram, you'll be able to see updates there.

Until then, let's move forward with wrapping up this TR! Here are the highlights, in order of how they occurred during the trip.

Staying in the Royal Room -
While this was only for one night, it was such fun to be able to stay in the Royal Room at Port Orleans Riverside.

The details in this room are absolutely beautiful.

I would love to stay in this room for an extended period of time. Maybe sometime in the near future. I am planning on running the regular half marathon in January 2016, and my friend Julia and I will be booking rooms OOP rather than with DVC, so this is definitely up there if the price is right.

Enjoying the Spa at Saratoga Springs.

This place was lovely and it was a great way to start the trip.

This picture of Pop. Just because.

Meeting LOTS and LOTS of wonderful DISers and Instagram Disney friends! Who have now become friends for life.

The Flower and Garden Festival and all of its offerings.
Seriously, this violet lemonade is a major highlight!

Star Wars Weekends. This trip inspired me to make sure I planned another trip for it, that will be coming up this May.

Continued in next post:

Continued from previous post:

The antics that my parents and I tend to get up to. Really it's normally a highlight of our trips. :)

And of course.

THE 24 HOUR DAY!!!!

This trip was one of the best trips I've taken. Not that any of my trips are ever bad, but this one was just amazing. The number of people that we met, the relaxing nature of the trip, and just everything about it made it perfect for me. This will go down in history as one of our most memorable.

Thank you to everyone for sticking by me throughout this TR. We've had great times throughout the whole thing, and I appreciate each and every one of my readers so much, you have no idea. You reading my TR's mean so much to me. I hope you continue to come back for more!

See you guys real soon!

First, so glad Popadon is doing better and headed down to Disney with you all. Pixie dust is real ; )

When are you all staying through? We r headed down for my daughters 4th bday on the 22nd

Completely unrelated, think I just gave u your first like on this new fangled dis system. Not often I can claim to be the first anymore ; )

Lastly, thank you, thank you, thank you for letting us follow along in your familys adventures. You all have such an exuberance for life and through these trip reports you let the rest of us take part. Thanks to you, pop, and mom

Great wrap-up! :goodvibes

Man, I'd forgotten just how many DIS-meets you'd had in one trip! :faint:

Really hoping the violet lemonade is back this year - I'd be really interested in trying that one! :thumbsup2

Agreed, great wrap up and recap. The picture recap all at once is both hilarious and a reminder of what a great trip you had. Glad Popadon and your mom will be cheering you on at the race.

That was quite a trip! Star Wars, F&G, 24 hour day, meet-ups, Disney Bounding.... Funny you say "relaxing nature" of the trip, when you did so much!

I am heading down to MCO 2/21. Will just miss you! Can't wait to hear about the race!

So happy that Pop will be able to come down with you guys!

It's so great that you consider this trip one of your best. It really sounds like it was a blast and that you and your parents had SO much fun. And all the DISmeets on top of that too!

Booo to this TR being over but I of course look forward to more and can't wait to hear about the race when it's all over!! :goodvibes
