TOTWL Questions

We recently purchased a DVC resale contract and will be making our first DVC trip the last week of August. We will be staying at AKV because this trip will be to attend MNSSHP and enjoy the resort. We would like to watch the fireworks from TOTWL on a non-party night during our trip. Last January we tried to watch from the California Grille Lounge but were shut out due to capacity. I am trying to make my plans so we are more successful this time.

If the fireworks are at 9:00pm what would be the latest we should arrive at TOTWL to make sure that we can gain access? It will depend on our dining plans the night we go whether we would be interested in eating anything there or not. Is there plenty of room if you just want to go up to see the fireworks and not purchase anything to eat or drink? Thank you.

You will not have a capacity issue at the end of August to watch the fireworks from the outside deck. The only time I arrive an hour or more before the fireworks is if I want a table inside to eat or drink.

When going for fireworks I don't think we've arrived any more than 30 minutes in advance. And no, no necessity to get a drink or any food if you don't want to.

We rode up the elevator just in time to grab a drink and walk outside before the fireworks on Memorial Day weekend. Unless it’s a major fireworks night, crowds aren’t an issue.

True, but that cake... is best cake. And I’m no cake lover.

Every time we go there I feel like the bar is mobbed and I have to wait forever to get served. That said when we stay st BLT we do the fireworks there a few nights b/c u can’t beat the convienence of not being jammed in the park.

I thought that resale after a certain date did not get the perks or a member card. If that is true, you will not be able to go to TOTWL.
If I am wrong, please let me know.

TOTWL is open to all DVC members, regardless of whether they have a blue card or not.

The Epcot lounge is restricted to blue card holders.

I have a blt reservation with rented points form David’s rental but I am also waiting on ROFR for a contract at Polynesian. If my contract passes and closes before my trip in August can I access the lounge? Will I receive a card? Print out online? Sorry just new to the dvc world and just want to know if I can use lounge being that I would be a member but I’m not using my member points bc I have rented.

Thanks

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to go into the lounge (assuming you close on the contract and it is processed by DVC by your travel date). The only restriction is that you have to be staying on-site (with no real specification as to how) and staying at BLT (if and only if it is one of the blackout dates).

When DVC processes/creates your membership you will be able to log in online and access a digital member ID, which will be white in color, that you will need to present at the check-in desk along with your photo ID to obtain access.

Yes. The only requirements are that it's not a date restricted to owners staying at BLT (July 3, 4 Dec 30, 31), that you are a DVC member and that you are staying somewhere onsite.

I just brought resale and i am awaiting my member id#. I will be staying at Bay Lake Tower with a large group (as renters). Question: as long as I have my member ID- I can take up the party to watch fireworks? Is there a limit of how many ppl per member? Is my husband and I consider one member or two? Thank you for help.

This is from the member website: Note the highlighted text in the first paragraph under Highlights. They must be staying with you on your reservation, not a separate reservation. So guests staying in your villa, not a different one that you are not registered in. If you have five villas rented and you are only listed in one villa, only the guests staying in that villa can go up with your. If you rented a Grand Villa and have ten more guests staying with you in the GV, all twelve of you should be able to go up to the lounge.

Piggybacking on this thread with a related question. I am staying on my points at VGF in September with family. They arrive several hours before I do, can they head up to TOTW before I arrive? The last few times I've gone they just scanned my magic band, didn't have show any member ID. I am the only one on the membership though.

No, the member must be there to show their member ID.

Thank you, that's what i understand from the online page as well. However, I kept reading on treads, where people keep saying just get friendly with an actual member and you can walk up with them. If that is allowed, I assumed people traveling with me even under a separate reservation would not be an issue.

But wouldn't you be embarrassed if they told you no after you showed up with all your friends?
