we have booked the free dinning plan for our stay in aug 14 nights for 4 people.Question would i be able to buy a meal for friends who are staying at disney at the same time as us but are not on DDP,as we would like to eat off site a few nights as well and this would help get rid of credits.Anyone done this themselfs?

You can "substitute" guests at any time. They'll never question that.

As for dining together, you probably wouldn't have any issues with it as long as your dining card lists ONLY adults on it. If your card lists any children, they will most likely limit you to the number of adult meals which matches the adults on your card.

Yes, you'll have to pay $37.99 for the 10-year old, but he will be allowed to order from the adult menu, even if the child's menu says "11 and under."
