Vegas with Teens - Would you splurge?

We are going to Vegas for the first time this June. Planning on driving up to Zion for a couple of days. How is the drive to Zion time-wise and also can we see a good bit of what Zion has to offer in two days? Also, is the downtown Vegas zipline a good experience? Have always wanted to zipline, so this would be our first time. I am sure I will have more questions as I get deeper in planning. Thanks in advance for all opinions and experiences.

We were just there for super bowl weekend. Had a great time. The guys passing out cards for escorts are easily ignored. That’s just Vegas.

Three shows to recommend. Backstreet boys at planet Hollywood, Michael Jackson one at Mandalay Bay and Bronx wanderers at Bally’s. All great.

Had a great meal at Lavo in Venetian.

We drove out to state park and Hoover dam. Had lunch in Boulder City. It’s an easy drive to st George Utah to get to national parks.

It’s a fun place for kids and adults.

Yes I think the key is good weather brings out the "freaks". We didn't have a problem when it was 120 degrees in June. The strip was fine..tame even.. which is why we went back with the kids. This time with 75-77 degree weather and low humidity, it was packed with people, many of whom had body paint on as "clothes" and actively soliciting tourists to take pictures with them saying "Welcome to Vegas wohoo"..lol
Wow, we took DS10 last year over Memorial Day weekend and it was hot but not so hot you couldn’t walk around or sit outside for dinner (DS LOVES PF Chang’s and we had dinner outside there) and he absolutely loved it. I don’t recall seeing any of that. DS actually has requested to go back. People from AZ and NV will tell you there is low humidity all year around even when it’s 120 degrees out.

We saw the MJ One show and it was fabulous! Although DS was looking forward to a lip syncing dancer like we have seen in Punta Cana :)

@Ngwira did you have a car for your trip? If not how did you get downtown for the Neon Museum as well as the Vegas sign? These are things we have on our to do list as well.

We're also doing it with California too. Plan to do Warner bros studio tour as well as Universal Studios.

We went to two shows and loved both of them!

First Night: Vegas! The Show at the Saxe Theater (really it's in the Miracle Mile Mall next to Planet Hollywood)

Last Night: Cirque du Soleil Michael Jackson ONE at Mandalay Bay

I rented a car from National at the Mccarran car rental center. Paid $148.00 for 5 days for a Hyundai midsize SUV.

Our kids LOVE it in Vegas too, it's their parents (US) who are not so sure we'd want to bring them back..lol

You can also use the Deuce bus..it takes you downtown.

I took my teenage kids to Vegas last summer and we ended up staying at the Palazzo. It is a sister hotel of the Venetian (located side by side) and in my opinion, better. Rooms all have sunken living room with plenty of space, and the 2 hotels share the same swimming pool complex.

We got our hotel at a very good rate using Hotwire. When you book on Hotwire, you actually don't know the name of the hotel until after you book. However, you can identify your hotel by comparing the info on Hotwire to data on this Hotwire hotel list for Vegas. Both the Venetian and Palazzo show up in Strip North zone. Look for an "all suite" hotel with a casino, and you're almost guaranteed to get the Venetian or Palazzo. Please make sure it has a casino or you could end up getting the Trump hotel which is off the Strip and not what you want. Good luck!

We're planning to go back this summer and I'm already eyeing the Palazzo/Venetian.

Exciting news: my close friend that we have traveled with in the past for family vacations, camping, cruising told me today she wants to plan to take her DD to Vegas next April for her DD 21st birthday and invited my family to go and help plan. Yippee. :). Yes, of course, I am up for that! She and her husband have been for a work convention but her kids have not. She has an older son who just got married last month.

Exciting! Despite all of my complaining in this thread, we’re going back too. Not sure when, though.

Yes, I am going to recommend we go to see Vegas! The Show again since we really liked that one and they say they change the show up every six months. When my friend went with her work folks, she went to see Donny and Marie. I will let them pick another show they like if they want to see two shows. We want to add the Grand Canyon into the trip this time. So, this is a chance to do some of the things we missed. And of course, we have to pick things to do that a 21 year old girl would want to do in Vegas. We will pre-book the zipline as I was telling her about that too.

Back in the dreary NorthEast after fabolous weather out west. We arrived on Tuesday afternoon and left yesterday morning. We covered a lot of ground in the 5 nights we were there. We hit the welcome to Vegas sign, Bacchanal buffet, Marvel Avengers Station, Paris buffet, Eiffel Tower Experience, Mandalay Bay/Delano (stayed there), Miracle Mile Shops, Fashion Show Mall, Bayside Buffet, Las Vegas Museum of Natural History, Neon Museum, Fremont Street, The Strip, Palazzo/Venetian (we stayed there), Promenade at the Linq, Bellagio Fountains, Forum Shoppes, Madame Tussauds, and finally, Horseshoe Bend, Antelope Canyon, Lake Powell, Glen Canyon Dam, Zion National Park! Whew!

How was the Paris buffet?? We're going to Vegas in June and I'll be solo one day while my SO attends a conference. I've already decided one of my solo activities will be a buffet lunch, and was debating between Paris and the Bellagio. (We'll be going to Bacchanal for brunch on my birthday earlier in the trip!)

So we made the mistake of doing the best brunch first which tainted all of the other buffets. Paris was just ok. I’d stick with bacchanal. I hear good things about the Wynn and Aria as well.

Gotcha--we're definitely doing Bacchanal but I was looking for another buffet to do solo. I wouldn't be opposed, I guess, to doing Bacchanal a second time! Still considering Bellagio for sure. Have heard similar good things about the Wynn!

Bellagio is good as well. Have heard good things about it. Keep in mind Bellagio charges full price for kids, which put us off of it. All other buffets charge half price for kids under a certain age.
