We. Are. CHUNKY! DISBoards Epic Girls Trip May 2019 THE END! Epilogue: Dream Cruise, Club 33 and a new TR!

Sounds like a fun day at TL and at DHS! Cute pics with Chewie & BB-8!

Thank you!
Oh, whoops, I meant Disneyland! I think I got confused somewhere haha.
LOL Then we will be a few months off!
Poly sounds so lovely and I haven't even heard of the French Family Meal but YUM, YES PLEASE!
OMG we had it 2 years ago and it was amazing.
I often pull my hair back on TT, too! I may not look as fun in the picture, but at least then my hair isn't a huge mess and full of knots!
Yup that used to be me.
I may be remembering wrong (it's been seven years!), but I SWEAR David was our server at Yachtsman when we went in 2012! Has he been there a long time? He looks so similar to the server I remember and your description of him seems on-point. We were on the deluxe dining plan and starting to suffer from all the overeating... and I was therefore unable to finish my delicious steak. Our server packed up the remaining steak to-go - and much to my surprise I realized he packed in a steak knife so I would easily be able to finish it! What a lovely gesture!
Oh that is sooo awesome! He's totally such a thoughtful observant person. He remembers what wine we liked and he remembers our last order. I think he must take some notes too!
Your lobster at Yachtsman looks DELICIOUS!! I love shellfish in general, but it wasn't until my 2016 trip with my mom that I really grew to love lobster. I've even made lobster tails myself (it's very easy!). Your entire meal looked lovely.
It was delicious and the pasta was fresh! I loved it!
I understand the exhaustion, but it's too bad you missed out on your VIP Passholder night. At least you had plenty of Disney fun to come so you couldn't be too disappointed!
Yup! If it were some other special event I would be more inclined to go but since it's really just like EMH I wasn't torn that we didn't attend.
How fun that you spent time at the waterpark! I've only been to Blizzard Beach at Disney, but Anika and I certainly enjoyed it. (Now having been to Volcano Bay at Universal, I think the Disney waterparks will pale by comparison...)
I'm pretty sure! Volcano Bay looks insane!!
Yuck, an untoasted Muffuletta? What were they thinking?! I'm glad your reheated version was better!
Yup, it was so blah before It needed the heat. I will ask them to toast it next time.
I do love 50's Prime Time! It's impossible for me to visit without getting a milkshake. :goodvibes
I don't eat a ton of ice cream so I can't have a full milkshake. Once in a while I will share with Steve though!
This is the second TR I've seen with the names appearing on the RNRC posters! I'll have to look for this next time!
It's the first time for me! I was so excited!
After hearing about the bus nightmare at DHS for such a long time, I have to say that the bus depot looks really nice! It reminds me of the bus pickup at AK.
Oh you should be happy you missed that horrendous maze of scaffolding and makeshift walls.
Finally back and playing catch up.
Hi Glenda! Hope all is well!
I don’t think I have ever done a water park at wdw but we do have it planned for our August trip! So nice to hear you had a good time!
It will be so much fun especially in the heat of August!
Taking it easy at wdw is an art and one I don’t think many have mastered yet.... but it’s a work in progress one day one day!
Me too.. work in progress. But enjoying the newfound relaxation!
I feel like the beignets are reason enough to stay at POFQ!
Absolutely! I love it when I get to stay there!
I agree about SWGE! It looks amazing and I’m not even a huge Star Wars fan! Hoping to check it out during my October trip, leaving on opening day in August!
When is your oct trip? We will be there Oct 5-8 tentatively. Still working out a few details.

I'm slowly getting caught back up around here. I knownits a rough life, but going to Disney can get in the way of DIS time. Plus a bunch of other stuff, I suppose I'll have to figure that out and do an IRL update on my TR! LOL!
Haha a rough life it is for you! Especially all those visits to Batuu. Man that must have been wretched! 😆
I would say that I don't even remember the last time I went to a water park, but I do and it was a very dark period in my past. Someday, I will have to go again. Our APs include water parks as well.
Hahaha. Well, if you like the pools and water, it is definitely a fun place to be! I can't really do it for more than a few hours though. I get antsy and want to do something else.
I can't wait to eat at 50's Primetime again, We have a late lunch reservation there for the day after we arrive on our next trip. Nice for you learning to slow down, I think it makes Disney much more enjoyable. Being exhausted and running ragged is never fun, at least in my opinion.
How fun!
Yup the taking it easy is definitely the best way to go...unless you get a bunch of anytime fast passes gifted to you, then you're running around like a monkey!
We arrive on October 5th! We're at Disney until Thursday the 13th.
Oh cool!! I hope this time I do go on the trip!! I'm just waiting to hear from my boss. It's tentatively scheduled for now at Pop Century.
Did you book any of the food and wine events? We had one booked but for November, the French Family meal!
No, I don't think it's the same. This is a plant based milk made from a combination of Rice Milk and Coconut Milk. They say the green milk is sort of herbacious while the blue milk is more citrusy. I couldn't tell you because, coconut.
LOL I wonder if it has a distinct coconut flavor or if it's just the stuff they use as a milk substitute which doesn't taste like coconut at all. I guess I will try it for myself.
Come to think of it, I haven't gotten any emails either....
You should double check because I think there may be an issue for the Premier passholders.
Last time I was at a water park it was River Country! I think it was somewhere around 1985 and I was 12. I'm just not really interested in trying out either of the current parks.
It took me the longest time to get back to one!
Yum! I love the Pot Roast and the Chocolate/Peanut Butter cake there.
Yum! I have not had the cake but the pot roast is so yummy!
Very cute!
Thanks!
Absolutely! I need to get there soon to check it out.
I can't wait to see it in person!
Darn! I'm going to be there right in between those two trips. My dates are Oct 30 - Nov 4th so I can run in the Fall Feast 5K. I'm hoping to get some time in Galaxy's Edge but my Mom is coming with me and she is not a Star Wars fan. She does want to see the land but I'm not sure I'll be able to convince her to do the 6 am EMHs.
Oh darn!! We will miss each other!
Can you get there early for the EMH and then your mom can meet you later?
:rotfl:That's my husband Jim's pose on pretty much every ride photo every.
They should ride this together! LOL

Haha a rough life it is for you! Especially all those visits to Batuu. Man that must have been wretched! 😆

I know. It's been rough. I hope again tomorrow. :hyper:

Hahaha. Well, if you like the pools and water, it is definitely a fun place to be! I can't really do it for more than a few hours though. I get antsy and want to do something else.

I'm not usually a big pool person. And it's really difficult for Fran.

How fun!
Yup the taking it easy is definitely the best way to go...unless you get a bunch of anytime fast passes gifted to you, then you're running around like a monkey!

I'm not sure how I'd handle that at WDW. But when it happens at DL I still don't run around like a monkey.

Oh cool!! I hope this time I do go on the trip!! I'm just waiting to hear from my boss. It's tentatively scheduled for now at Pop Century.

If you do, we should set up a lunch of dinner.

Did you book any of the food and wine events? We had one booked but for November, the French Family meal!

Fran specifically asked me if we could not do any fancy events this time. I did convince her to do MNSSHP, so I need to buy those tickets.

LOL I wonder if it has a distinct coconut flavor or if it's just the stuff they use as a milk substitute which doesn't taste like coconut at all. I guess I will try it for myself

It is not a heavy coconut flavor, but it is definitely there.

You should double check because I think there may be an issue for the Premier passholders.

Yet another thing I need to remember to do. :rolleyes1

It will be so much fun especially in the heat of August!

This is what i am hoping!

When is your oct trip? We will be there Oct 5-8 tentatively. Still working out a few details.

End of October 22-25! But some how i convinced DH to get a annual pass, and we have a Feb trip booked too... and i mean i am TRYING to squeeze in a December one as well

Also will be thinking of your family tomorrow. I know how hard the first round of holidays are with out a parent. Hope you are together and do something your dad would love.

Day 4 Part 1: Steve's First Time Milestone

Today was MK day! I'm always so excited to see the castle for the first time on a trip. When we extended our trip I managed to get a lunch ADR at Crystal Palace and I was really looking forward to eating there. We've only been for breakfast which we enjoyed and I wan't sure about the lunch options but I was excited to see for myself.

Chunkysis also had a change in plans. She was initially going to arrive that night which was the original flight we had all scheduled together. She wasn't going to change it even after we did, but a few days before her flight she went to check flight options and was somehow convinced to pay 50 bucks to take an earlier flight that day which would get her in at around 2pm instead of 10pm. I am not surprised at this as multiple people on our epic trip did the same thing! It doesn't take us much convincing to arrive at Disney earlier, rather than later! :)

We saw that the line for the bench photopass picture wasn't that long so we hopped on. While I was on line, Steve went to get more Sorcerer's cards and by the time he came back it was our turn. While waiting I was doing my best "capture the castle in my ears" shot :)

And here's our photopass pic. I'm always wary of sitting down on the bench because I try to reduce the amount of unflattering pictures of me :rotfl:

We continued taking photopass pictures while walking down Main Street.

I tried to capture shots of myself with very little crowds in the hub area, so you have to try and angle your selfie to cut out random people.

Also it is a little weird to see the moat drained around the castle.

So since we were in MK during the day I had to have one of my favorite breakfast items so headed over the the Cheshire Cafe.
On the way I got some solo shots.

I ate it with an iced coffee. Steve had a few bites but he is not really into the sweet breakfasts. I must admit that today's cat tail was not as good as I've had in the past which was flakier and just better IMO. Today's was not as flaky and had a softer texture. Still, it was good and satisfied my craving.

We walked over to BTMRR which was our first FP. In Frontierland while we were walking on the bridge leading out to Splash Mtn I ran int a country bear...I believe this is Wendell. He is kinda scary looking!

On BTMRR we sat in the front row. I think the back is actually more fun though.

Hmm, don't think those tourists got the point of the rhino...

Next up was something that I have been trying to get Steve into for a while...a haircut at Harmony Barber Shop! I've tried on previous trips to get him an appt but was always remembered too late and they are booked. You can always go on the day off and try to get one of the first walk in appts in the morning but we either forget until it's too late or aren't there early enough. So for this trip I remembered to call the minute I found out we extended our trip and was able to get him an appointment for today. So we headed back down main st until we reached:

We checked in for his appt, although we did have to wait about 20 minutes just because they were running behind. So most of customers are little kids, they are really cute and many were there for their "first haircut". They also have fun toys to distract the kids as well. Steve was the only adult getting a cut there at that time! Finally it was his turn and he was sat in one of the chairs. Here is his before picture:

I volunteer as tribute!!

So I guess Steve has completed his "first haircut at Harmony Barber Shop milestone!" He actually really liked his haircut and said this was something he could do on every trip. The price was about 20 bucks (excluding tip) for an adult haircut, which is cheaper than what he pays back home, and it's one less thing to worry about when he's about to go on a trip (which is why you've noticed him wearing hats on my last few TRs, too busy to get a haircut!)

So, they had installed the new ride photos starting that week, but we didn't know where the camera was in the ride.
So I give you this gem of a ride picture:

Now it was time for our much anticipated lunch at Crystal Palace. It is actually a really nice break in the day to have a sit-down lunch especially during the hottest times of day. Now mind you, it wasn't really as hot as it would get during the week.

Side Note: we did notice that the lovebugs increased every day...I know that this is a spring thing in Florida and happens around May. When we were there 2 years ago in early May there were no lovebugs however they showed up later in May when we returned for Pandora previews. It really is a matter of how seasonably warm it gets so every year the season starts at a different time. I will be starting my cruise TR soon, and the first day of our cruise, when we arrived at Port, it was the worst I have ever seen, it was like an infestation. It was gross.

Anyways, we did see the lovebugs more than we saw the day before, but they weren't a deterrent, they just look gross. Also they are attracted to whilte...so don't wear white during a large infestation. You're welcome.

We checked in at Crystal Palace, and also had to wait about 15 minutes as they were running behind as well. So we sat and admired the view of the castle on such a pretty day.

We were seated and immediately went to the buffet after we ordered our iced teas. The characters weren't in our section yet so we wanted to get food before they did! Sorry I don't have pictures of the buffet or anything but I must say we were really surprised at how much we enjoyed the offerings here. Everything was delicious and well-prepared and wasn't sitting out for a long time. The turnover is pretty high it seems.

My first plate had a nice big piece of prime rib with lots of carbs and a couple of veggies to balance it all out.:

I'm sure Steve's had lots of salads and other leafy things that I didn't waste my time on.

The characters slowly came around. First was Pooh, Tigger, Piglet then finally Eeyore.
Since there are so many pictures I made a gif:

Tigger kept sitcking out his hand, and I was confused but then I was like, oh I guess he wants to dance!
So I took his hand and this was the result:

Tigger was also obsessed with my phone since it has as mirror on the back of the case. (great for checking if there's something between your teeth, fixing your hair, etc)

During lunch CS sent me a picture saying she had arrived at POFQ!

We agreed to meet in the room after we watch some of the FoF parade and then CS and I would Uber it over to the Character Warehouse on Vineland as we had never been before. CS didn't have a park ticket for today so we were just going to dine in Disney Springs that evening.

My sister and I were going to Character Warehouse for the first time, and later who did we run into on the way to Disney Springs?
Stay tuned!

It doesn't take us much convincing to arrive at Disney earlier, rather than later! :)

Disney Math at its finest!

Fantastic photo! Don't know why I've never tried this spot.

Also it is a little weird to see the moat drained around the castle.

And sad. It's one of my favorite views with the castle reflected in the water.

They should actually be this big, right?

I must admit that today's cat tail was not as good as I've had in the past which was flakier and just better IMO.

I had that exact experience! It definitely lost that croissant-like texture... it tasted really like it had been poorly defrosted, or something.

On BTMRR we sat in the front row. I think the back is actually more fun though.

Agreed!

Instead I volunteered to get the pixie dust instead.

Ohhh I need this!

Hahahah, you do kinda match the ghost beneath you!

How lovely! A restaurant I always overlook.

What this is the cutest thing ever!

What a great couple days before the Epic trip

I have a breakfast and lunch at CP for our last day, not sure which to keep yet, thanks for a recent review!

HM photo, hilarious, love it!!

Steve’s haircut looks great and $20. Is a bargain at MK!

The love bugs were really gross!

I'm always wary of sitting down on the bench because I try to reduce the amount of unflattering pictures of me :rotfl:

I love all of your cute videos! Also as to the quote above - the most horrendous Photopass photos are ones where I'm sitting down, this bench specifically! There's something about the angle and those ultra HD shots that just make everything super unflattering while sitting.

It is always better to get more Disney time, good job Sis.

Even after this glowing review :rotfl: , you have made me need to put this on my list for the next trip

I volunteer as tribute!!
:rotfl2:Someone's gotta do it

So I took his hand and this was the result:
This is so cute. Sounds like you had a great time at Crystal Palace, it's one of our faves, always so good.

When I saw the picture of it, I immediately thought it looked a bit more limp than in other pictures... maybe the humidity got to it?

I ran int a country bear...I believe this is Wendell. He is kinda scary looking!

I think all the country bears are super creepy!

He actually really liked his haircut and said this was something he could do on every trip.

His haircut looks great!

We were just in time for our next FP...Haunted Mansion!

I love your ride photo so much! 😆

DH and I have talked about trying CP on our next trip. My parents are going with us, and my mom loves Eeyore! Glad to hear that the lunch seemed pretty fresh

I'm always so excited to see the castle for the first time on a trip.
::yes:: Best feeling ever.

This is a no-brainer. More time at Disney? For just $50??? Heck, ya!
It doesn't take us much convincing to arrive at Disney earlier, rather than later! :)
Nope!
While waiting I was doing my best "capture the castle in my ears" shot :)

I don't think an unflattering picture of you is possible.
I tried to capture shots of myself with very little crowds in the hub area, so you have to try and angle your selfie to cut out random people.

Yes. I found it... disconcerting. I also felt bad for all the confused ducks.
And me holding the largest Mickey bar ever. I look like I'm going to punch someone out with it!

I remember when you first told me about this (well... everyone, but me too.) I've yet to have one. I've tried twice!
I believe this is Wendell. He is kinda scary looking!
Just a bit! Teeth!
 Love that!
After one ride I felt like I needed a snack so we ended up with a Dole Whip Float which I mobile ordered.
mmmmmmm…
Hmm, don't think those tourists got the point of the rhino...
I don't get it.

;)
They also have fun toys to distract the kids as well. Steve was the only adult getting a cut there at that time!
So what did they distract Steve with?
And here's the finished product:
Much better.
He got a sticker though!
 Yay, Steve!
But no pixie dust for him. Instead I volunteered to get the pixie dust instead.
Of course you did. :)
He actually really liked his haircut and said this was something he could do on every trip.
Really! Well good, then!
(which is why you've noticed him wearing hats on my last few TRs, too busy to get a haircut!)
Ah. Mystery solved. It was keeping me up, nights.
:lmao:
I didn't know they did that!
it was the worst I have ever seen, it was like an infestation. It was gross.
Yes. It was.
don't wear white during a large infestation. You're welcome.
Good to know.
I must say we were really surprised at how much we enjoyed the offerings here.
Glad you liked it. :)
When I went a few years ago.... it was quite underwhelming.
My first plate had a nice big piece of prime rib with lots of carbs and a couple of veggies to balance it all out.:

Mmmm… My plate might look quite similar... minus the mini trees.
Since there are so many pictures I made a gif:
Perfect!
So I took his hand and this was the result:

Awwww... :)

Steve's haircut looks really nice!

So many people seem to have been caught off-guard with the new HM ride photo. Even after learning where it is the pictures seem to be hit-or-miss!

Mmmm, Crystal Palace! I've only ever been for breakfast, but the lunch looks pretty good, too!

I know. It's been rough. I hope again tomorrow. :hyper:
Argh so lucky, and here I am hoping for AP previews for WDW (which they just announced today, yay!) - so I had to buy another AP so I can go in August.

I'm not usually a big pool person. And it's really difficult for Fran.
I can see that. I am a pool person just not necessarily a water park person.
I'm not sure how I'd handle that at WDW. But when it happens at DL I still don't run around like a monkey.
Haha we just get so excited when we get any additional FPs!!
If you do, we should set up a lunch of dinner.
For sure! Anyplace you want to go to?
Fran specifically asked me if we could not do any fancy events this time. I did convince her to do MNSSHP, so I need to buy those tickets.
Ah yes I wanted to do that too. I'll have to see if we can make the trip before I plunk down money for tickets!
It is not a heavy coconut flavor, but it is definitely there.
Interesting! I am more intrigued than ever.
Yet another thing I need to remember to do. :rolleyes1
I have a whole big list of things I need to (remember) to do!
End of October 22-25! But some how i convinced DH to get a annual pass, and we have a Feb trip booked too... and i mean i am TRYING to squeeze in a December one as well
Sounds good!! The more trips the better!
Also will be thinking of your family tomorrow. I know how hard the first round of holidays are with out a parent. Hope you are together and do something your dad would love.

Thank you so much, you are so sweet.

Disney Math at its finest!
Always works!
Fantastic photo! Don't know why I've never tried this spot.
It's always crowded and the line is usually insane! I think we just had good timing.
And sad. It's one of my favorite views with the castle reflected in the water.
I know! I miss the reflection!
They should actually be this big, right?
For someone that cannot have that much ice cream that would be a bad idea for me, but great for everyone else! :)
I had that exact experience! It definitely lost that croissant-like texture... it tasted really like it had been poorly defrosted, or something.
I was disappointed. I love the croissant-like flakiness it used to have! Is it a summer humidity thing? I'm not sure. I think the first time I had it was in the worse humidity of Sept so I doubt it is that.
Hahahah, you do kinda match the ghost beneath you!
That is EXACTLY what I was going for! :rotfl:
How lovely! A restaurant I always overlook.
It was a lot of fun and I don't get there quiet as often as I probably should considering I love the 1000-acre wood characters.
What this is the cutest thing ever!
Thanks! The interactions are priceless!
What a great couple days before the Epic trip
Thanks! We certainly had a great time even before the epicness!
I have a breakfast and lunch at CP for our last day, not sure which to keep yet, thanks for a recent review!
I enjoyed them both! Breakfast is pretty typical breakfast food but the puffy french toast is good.
For lunch they had a lot more offerings and I LOVED this one dish they had which was potato and cheese stuffed pierogies sauteed in butter, OMG so good!
HM photo, hilarious, love it!!
Haha thanks! I do my best. :)
Steve’s haircut looks great and $20. Is a bargain at MK!
For sure! You can't even get a t shirt for that price.
The love bugs were really gross!
Yup. They got worse as the week progressed!
I love all of your cute videos! Also as to the quote above - the most horrendous Photopass photos are ones where I'm sitting down, this bench specifically! There's something about the angle and those ultra HD shots that just make everything super unflattering while sitting.
Thank you!!
Oh for sure, I can' stand sitting down. The one with Ariel in her Grotto is the worst. I look gargantuan next to her already and then they make you sit down, so needless to say I haven't done that photo op in a while!
Ha! Joe did this too during our Epic trip!!!!! He also opted out of the pixie dust. LOL! Steve looks great!!!
Oh that's so fun! Wasn't it so cute? There were two little kids in the chairs next to Steve. I thought it was the most adorable thing, LOL.

Yup - it makes so much sense to move up the flight a couple hours, then the night before, then a couple days earlier...etc!
Steve was the only adult getting a cut there at that time! Finally it was his turn and he was sat in one of the chairs. Here is his before picture:

He looks very excited!
He actually really liked his haircut and said this was something he could do on every trip. The price was about 20 bucks (excluding tip) for an adult haircut, which is cheaper than what he pays back home, and it's one less thing to worry about when he's about to go on a trip (which is why you've noticed him wearing hats on my last few TRs, too busy to get a haircut!)

That's a good idea!
So I give you this gem of a ride picture:

I actually find those photos to be so hilarious!
The characters slowly came around. First was Pooh, Tigger, Piglet then finally Eeyore.
Since there are so many pictures I made a gif:

Nice! Good way to show them all!
My sister and I were going to Character Warehouse for the first time, and later who did we run into on the way to Disney Springs?
Hmm, I wonder!
