Nice to see you back. But I can't see any pictures either.

Not to give a shameless plug, but I started a new TR and forgot to include you in the bat signal I sent out. I know you're a smart girl and can find the bread crumbs to lead you there when you're ready to join in!

early walk off the boat at around 7:15am. I got an Uber to get to my work in NJ, and Steve took the subway down to his workplace. I took our luggage and stored it in our car (I park in a lot by work) then walked into work right at 8:35am. It can be done everyone!!
Wow! That's impressive!

I will probably start a new TR on the cruise boards in the future. So stay tuned on that.
Looking forward to it!

I also can't see any photos yet. Hopefully it's easy to resolve so we can see your trip pictures soon!

I can't see the photos either and I am on chrome. Seems everybody is having issues with photos showing up lately on the boards. I did follow your trip on Instagram but can't wait to see them here.

Let me join the ones who cannot see the photos. But I am truly impressed with arriving and going straight to work.

    Looking forward to the TR!

Day 8 Part 2: The EPIC Walk (almost) Around the World

When we last left off Steve and I were just getting ready to head back out from the Swan to our designated meeting spot at International Gateway for our Epic Eat and Drink around the World. My sister stayed on in DHS to get more character pics while I changed at the Swan and walked over to Epcot with Steve, hair still intact:

Here's Steve reminding everyone of the meetup point:

The thing is, even though it was sunny on the walk over (we met up with @StarWarsMomofGirls! on the way over!), the skies quickly turned ominous and grey so we had to make a last minute decision to head for shelter. So a quick text and FB Group update told everyone to meet in the Odyssey building. A good half of the group were already at Int'l Gateway and of course when you have a group that big you kind of move at all different paces.

Well, myself, Steve, @Lesley Wake, and Ariella were distracted by a few things:

This is the lobster tail and citrus wine slushy which is infinite times better than that orange cream slushy in the Orange Bird souvenir cup. Well we were too busy eating so naturally the skies opened up before we got to the Odyssey. And I mean REALLY OPENED UP, like deluge floodwater rain. We took shelter at those kiosks where they have the interactive games (what are they called now anyways? I only remember Kim Possible), but we didn't see it letting up soon, so we ended up making a run for it into the Odyssey afterall.

Needless to say, my hair did not survive.

    We were SOAKED!!
But if you were wondering, yes I was ultimately going for that drowned rat look!! 😆

Looks like Lesley's wine slushy survived but she was carrying a citrus shortcake which became a little soggy in the storm, LOL. Not sure if it affected the flavor or not! 😆

Meanwhile everyone else aside from the 3 of us looked perfectly fine.
(If I can remember correctly I think Steve ran ahead of me into the Odyssey while I was eating. That's true love there. #facepalm).

I had to console myself with this cake:

It was really good! Chocolate-y but not too sweet. I think there were hazelnuts in it as well? Can't remember but I remember I liked it!

I also got this horrendous dish from inside the Odyssey:

Fried Green Tomatoes with Blue Crab-fennel Salad, Remoulade and Smoked Paprika Oil

It was cold and dry and just not very good at all. The breading was also greasy because it wasn't fresh from the fryer. Overall, I'd skip this next year and head for the Fried Green Tomatoes at Italy which were amazing!!

Renee (@ArielSRL) also offered me one of the beers from the beer sampler, can't remember which one but it was tasty, Thanks Renee!

We all hung out in the Odyssey and chatted for a while. It was a bummer we couldn't start the festivities as planned, but hey, we were all together and you can't deny that it has been Epic so far....an EPIC FLOOD! :rotfl: Some ladies waited on line for Minnie but her line was really long so it took about 40 minutes anyways, but hey there was nothing else to do!

When the rain let up some people went out to get some food in one direction and some went in the other direction. Renee, her DH Chad, and I went to get some:

Grilled Street Corn on the Cob with Savory Garlic Spread

It was really good, but ultimately in the end we missed out on the shrimp party that Ariane, her Steve, Lesley, @pepperandchips (Melinda), @Jenny Sanders, @Chrystmasangel, @Steppesister , @Elevationist @kastoney and a whole bunch of others were at. So we headed that way after we finished our corn so we could also have a shrimp party of our own.

Sugar Cane Shrimp Skewer with Steamed Rice and Coconut-Lime Sauce from La Isla Fresca

Yum, this shrimp is da bomb!! I hope they have it every year!

Since it was drizzling on and off I safeguarded the ears that Jenn made and wore my Epcot ears. My poor hair! All that effort, LOL.

I got a violet lemonade to make up for it.

We managed to make it to the Refreshment Port (a good chunk of us did) cos lots of us needed one of these after our harrowing afternoon:

Stow Away Mary: Classic Bloody Mary with Absolut Vodka garnished with Pimento-stuffed Olives, Cherry Tomato, Celery, Jumbo Shrimp and Smokehouse Jerky

I love this bloody mary! It was perfect! I preferred the pork belly one that had in Festival of the Arts but this is a very close second.

    CHEERS!!

Some of them are missing shrimp but I blame that on Kari. :)

Sarah and Billie also got some of the two most mouthwatering poutine/cheese fries ever:

Coffee-rubbed Pork Poutine with Barbecue Demi-Glace, Fire-roasted Corn Relish and Cheese Curds

We made it France somehow, a little tipsier, a little more loud. We stopped on the way for some PP pics:

And when we crossed over into France...you knew what we had to do...

Yum La Vie en Rose cheers!!!!

Finally the whole clan went over to Morocco and we got these large group pictures.

And a few of us headed off and we grabbed this picture at Japan:

Steve representin' the Chunkydump the correct way, right @Steppesister ?

So in Japan I tried to get some Frushi but they had run out!!
They said a new batch would be arriving soon, but they couldn't really give me a time frame and I didn't want to wait so I gave up and we continued on.

In America a few decided to listen to Herman's Hermits and myself and a few others went to meet @docsoliday1 in the Fife and Drum. He was there with his lovely daughter, Penny, and we had a nice chat! I think Jackie also got a free cupcake for her birthday, how fun!

Renee and I were determined to make it to Norway to get that frozen berry drink that we saw on some Disney blog, it was the one topped with dollop of whipped cream and it looked really good. So we continued to walk there. On the way Jenn (@Chrystmasangel) picked up a chocolate covered pineapple from Karamel Kusche and because she couldn't finish it, she gave me half and omg it was sooo good and really hit the spot, like I didn't even know I was craving it!
Here's a public service announcement: ALWAYS GET THE CHOCOLATE CARAMEL PINEAPPLE. You're welcome.

Other things we did in Germany:

    The Chunkydump, of course!

Almost everyone is here! We were all walking at different paces so a few stragglers may have missed the picture (or were we the stragglers?!? LOL)

Lesley was feeling very tired so she went to take a quick snooze at some point (she was at Yacht Club).
@Malia78 went with her BF in the opposite direction.

And a half dozen of us got pretzels.

And/or pretzels and beer. Or just beer.

@LindseyJo22 had to leave at that point, but it was so nice catching up again, hope to see you in a week and a half!

Billie and Melinda stopped to get their face painted while Renee, Chad, Steve and myself powered on to Norway.
    Mission: Success!

Although they got rid of whipped cream on top. Boo. I thought this drink was very very good. It was fruity but not sweet. I didn't taste that much alcohol but there was definitely something in there. I was slightly tipsy from all the day drinking so far, so I could have thought anything was good. I may get this again when I'm there in a week and a half, just to see if I really liked it, haha. Anyone else going to be there Nov 9-13? :)

    LOOK AT THESE STUNNERS:

    I love it!

At this point we had to turn around and head back to IG to make it to our illuminations cruise meeting time which was 7-ish if I can remember.

On the way I convinced Jenn to share a plate of deep fried cauliflower with me, her only hesitation was that it would be to spicy. I got one, and yes they were really spicy but they were oh so good! Sorry I don't have a pic of them today but I have some from previous days. (shown below)

Fried Cauliflower with Capers, Garlic Parsley and Chili Ranch Sauce from Taste of Marrakesh.

One last pic at the Int'l Gateway...you know where we were supposed to start the eating and drinking! But hey, we ended there, so that brought us full circle, right? :)

Meanwhile throughout all this adventure, my sister was stuck on a boat from DHS to Epcot...they would't move due to lightning so she just sat on the boat, LOL. When she finally got to Epcot we were almost at Norway and she didnt' want to walk all that way just to walk back so she headed straight to Disney Visa's Character Spot for one last character meet before having to meet us over at the Yacht/Beach Club boat dock for our illuminations cruise.

The skies continued to look dreary.
Do we make it to our cruise in the end? Find out shortly!!

I'm glad you had a great time on your cruise! I'm quite impressed you went from the boat and straight to work - that's how you make the most out of your vacation days!

Your afternoon looked like so much fun! It's too bad you got caught in the downpour (food distraction is real!), but you look very nice in the subsequent pictures even though your hair "didn't survive" the rain. I wish my hair looked as nice after getting soaked!

Oh my goodness, the food from the F&G booths looks SO GOOD! I'm so excited that the F&G Festival runs longer than it used to so I have a chance to try some of those tasty treats next year. I'm especially excited to try the lobster, the shrimp, and the violet lemonade!

And our dashing cruise director himself, fancy Mickey, all dolled up for semi-formal night:
    Look at Mickey all dapper!

Did my hair stay up? Do we eat everything that we want to? Do we have fun during our illuminations cruise? Hmmm....stay tuned and find out.
SO MUCH SUSPENSE! I need to know if the hair survived!!

    hair still intact:
    WHEW. Okay I can relax.

Needless to say, my hair did not survive.
    Noooooooooo!

I think Steve ran ahead of me while I was eating. That's true love there.

Wow that is one of the prettiest cakes I've ever seen!

I got a violet lemonade to make up for it.
    Violet lemonade makes everything better.

    Okay that looks amazing!

I thought this drink was very very good. But I was slightly tipsy from all the day drinking so far, so I could have thought anything was good

Very pretty, and Jenn's ears look great!
Here's Steve reminding everyone of the meetup point:

The enthusiasm is strong with this one.
    That lobster was sooooooo good!
citrus wine slushy which is infinite times better than that orange cream slushy in the Orange Bird souvenir cup.
I know I am one of (if not the only one) who liked the orange cream slushy more.
We took shelter at those kiosks where they have the interactive games (what are they called now anyways? I only remember Kim Possible)
    Agent P Adventure.
I've done a few. I preferred the Kim P ones.
    Oh, noooo!
But if you were wondering, yes I was ultimately going for that drowned rat look!! 😆
    Oh. Well, then success!
Meanwhile everyone else aside from the 3 of us looked perfectly fine.
 So you didn't stand out at all.

I had to console myself with this cake:

    Pretty good consolation. :)
I also got this horrendous dish from inside the Odyssey:
    Ew.
Grilled Street Corn on the Cob with Savory Garlic Spread
I didn't like that at all. We threw ours out, less than half eaten. Was yours hot?
Sugar Cane Shrimp Skewer with Steamed Rice and Coconut-Lime Sauce from La Isla Fresca
I was so pumped for this... until I read "coconut"... then it was a hard "nope!"
My poor hair! All that effort, LOL.
    Still cute. :)
Stow Away Mary: Classic Bloody Mary with Absolut Vodka garnished with Pimento-stuffed Olives, Cherry Tomato, Celery, Jumbo Shrimp and Smokehouse Jerky
I was going to get one, but ran out of steam (and room!)
Coffee-rubbed Pork Poutine with Barbecue Demi-Glace, Fire-roasted Corn Relish and Cheese Curds
    Interesting.
I'm more of a purist I suppose. Plus... the coffee part didn't appeal.
We made it France somehow, a little tipsier, a little more loud.

And when we crossed over into France...you knew what we had to do...
    Speak French?
Steve representin' the Chunkydump the correct way, right @Steppesister ?
    ::yes::
So in Japan I tried to get some Frushi but they had run out!!
    HOW DARE THEY!?!?!?
a few others went to meet @docsoliday1 in the Fife and Drum. He was there with his lovely daughter, Penny, and we had a nice chat!
Oh! Didn't know you guys met him (them) again. Nice! :)
On the way Jenn (@Chrystmasangel) picked up a chocolate covered pineapple from Karamel Kusche
    Yussss….

I need this. It's been on my list for quite a while... and I always forget to get it!!!
ALWAYS GET THE CHOCOLATE CARAMEL PINEAPPLE.
    I'M TRYING!!!!!
    The Chunkydump, of course!
    ::yes::
Although they got rid of whipped cream on top. Boo.
    Tragic.
It was fruity but not sweet. I didn't taste that much alcohol but there was definitely something in there.
Sounds just like my kind of drink. :)
I was slightly tipsy from all the day drinking so far, so I could have thought anything was good.

Oh, poor sis. Stuck on a boat with no place to go.
Do we make it to our cruise in the end?
    :rolleyes1
