We visited all 4 parks and Disney Springs. How safe was it?

Some of you may be considering a trip to Disney World and wondering how safe is it. My husband and I visited all 4 Disney parks and Disney Springs this week. I wanted to share our experience. We're in good shape with no underlying conditions. In early June, we both tested positive for the COVID anitbodies. We were lucky to have had it without symptoms, but we still wear masks and practice social distancing. I felt safer at the MK, HS, and Epcot than I did at my local Walmart. Everyone was following the rules with masks and social distancing. There were hand sanitizer stations at the beginning and end of every ride, at least the rides we went on.

At Epcot, I wouldn't recommend eating at the San Angel Inn restaurant in the Mexico pavilion. It looked way too crowded for an indoor restaurant. Otherwise, we saw everyone following the rules.

At AK and DS, we had a different experience. There was a group of 9 in front of us for the Kilimanjaro ride, half had their masks down below their chins. One guy in the group was talking on his cell facing us without a mask, we kept our distance full two markers behind them. Then the group behind us were constantly 2-3 feet behind us, not staying on their markers. I finally asked them to please stay on their markers. I heard some snide comments to which I returned some comments of my own to my husband, but loud enough for them to hear, "Some people don't how to read english and don't know how to follow the rules". Their comments stopped. We had the same experience on the Flight of Passage ride. Our experience at AK may have been a "bad" luck of the draw, but I felt much safer at the other parks. We did notice less CM walking around at AK.

We were in line at the MK for Splash Mountain. There is a short section of tunnel in the line. I didn't notice it, but apparently there was a group of teens not staying on their markers behind us. The lights came on and a CM came out and asked them to please stay on their marker behind us. They started to give the CM a hard time, dropping the F bomb in front of other children who were in line. Finally she said if they didn't follow the social distancing rules, security would escort them out of the park. They quickly fell into line. I don't think she was just a ride operator, she wasn't dressed in a costume but in regular clothes. She may have been a supervisor. Either way, I was glad to see a CM enforcing the park rules. I guess there are cameras everywhere. Wish there were more of those cameras at AK.

At Disney Springs, it's the wild, wild west. We saw a lot of people walking around with masks down below their chins. We passed a group of 4 sheriff deputies, 2 of them had their mask below their nose and one had it down under his chin. Like I said, it was like Tombstone, anything goes.

I just wanted to share our experience for those considering a trip to Disney. Your experience may differ. All but HS were fairly empty, which was great because the wait times were super low. We visited during the week, so that may have contributed to the lack of crowds. We did get to ride Rise of the Resistance, which was the main goal of our trip. Overall, it was the best, most enjoyable trip to DW we ever had.

There are those who'll say, "If you're so concerned about COVID, stay home". To that, I say, "If you don't want to follow Disney's rules, STAY HOME!". We weren't overly concerned about catching COVID because we have the antibodies, but even that is no guarantee of not getting it again. We hated seeing people disregarding the rules and putting the safety of others in jeopardy. That's just irresponsible, ignorant and selfish, whether they're at Disney World or Walmart.

We will probably never see the crowd levels so low at DW again in our lifetime, unless there's another pandemic, so that's why we chose to go. Almost every ride was a walk on. If we had small kids or had underlying health conditions, we probably wouldn't have gone. But at the end of the day, everyone must make their own decision based on what's best for them and their family.

We spent a week in the parks and eating at restaurants every day. It was amazing. We are now 10 days back after our trip. No illness at all in our family. It was absolutely worth the cost and the risk. Might have been our best trip out of 17 visits to WDW.

Disney was far better than our local businesses. We felt safer there than at home. There were literally no guests without masks, and there was sanitizer everywhere, despite what you might read online.

We were in the parks every day for a week, and ate both in the parks and outside. California Grill, The Wave, Grand Floridian Cafe, STK Orlando, 50's Prime Time, Oga's Cantina, Backlot Express, Via Napoli, Chef Mickey's. All great and all distanced and sanitized.
