Day One, Nov. 17

My son & I left home about 6:00 AM and headed down I-75 towards Florida and the World. My DH had a job on Saturday night so he wouldn't join us until Sunday. The trip was uneventful and we made okay time, as we pulled into the All Star Movies around 2:00 PM. Since my brother & his family were joining us there, I had two rooms reserved and had faxed a request for one room in the Dalmatian section and one room in the Toy Story section, each with a view of the courtyard. Our rooms were ready when we arrived so we checked-in and went to the rooms to get settled in and get the Dalmatian room ready for my niece. The staff at the check in desk was wonderful, very friendly and we had less than a five minute wait to check in. We were expecting my brother and his family around 5:00 PM.

We were officially celebrating my niece's 11th birthday on Sunday and I wanted her to have a Dalmatian room. I had been collecting Disney Dalmatian themed items for over 18 months and wanted to keep with the Dalmatian theme of her gifts. I also had purchased Disney Dalmatian window clings and balloons. We decorated the window, mirror above the sink and the mirror on the door of the bathroom with the clings and blew up all of the balloons and filled the tub with them. I then put her packages around the room. I filled her Dalmatian backpack with the sticker book & stickers, pens, pencils, coloring books and other school/stationary items and hung it on the back of the chair. I put all of the Dalmatian magnets on the back of the door, the bath gel & magic towels in the bathroom, the items that didn't fit in her gift basket in a Dalmatian gift bag and put it on the bed and on the table I placed a large basket filled with other Dalmatian goodies. Items included: keychain, a lighted keychain, the backpack, sticker book & stickers, pens, pencils, coloring books, sticker books, hard back books, bath gel, magic towels, book covers, all of the Tiny Kingdom 101 Dalmatian figures, Christmas stocking, Christmas ornament, computer accessories, Dalmatian Barbie, magnets, cups, pins, t-shirt, Oddball beanie, pvc figures, mini globe, Pez dispenser, and other stuff–all 101 or 102 Dalmatian themed. Our room was on the third floor and had a great view of the courtyard and Pongo. At the Toy Story room, my son and nephew were staying there, I tried to put Toy Story 2 decals on their window but my son wouldn't let me. So they just got a plain old Toy Story room. Their room was also on the third floor and had a great view of Woody from the window and was next to Buzz.

By 5:30 PM they weren't in yet, so my son & I had dinner at the Food Court and then planned on going to Downtown Disney to see the Grinch movie with Jim Carey. After dinner we checked at the desk and they hadn't arrived yet, so we left room keys for them at the desk and went to the movies. When we returned, they were in the rooms and had settled in to watch tv for the night. My niece LOVED her room and all of her gifts BUT she hadn't been allowed to open anything until I got there. Poor kid–she had to sit there with all those gift looking at her until I got back. She opened everything and loved it all. My sister in law just commented on how much I spoil my niece (she is my only one). My nephew wanted to know if I had hung the border too. (Joking). I told him of course and that I had put his up too. He loved "the boys room" (he's a BIG toy Story fan) but wanted to know why there were only 2 measly decals on their window. I told him my son had stopped me from putting any more up–he said you'd be embarrassed. I passed out the All Star refillable mugs so everyone would have one for the weekend (I brought all of my mugs from home for us to use on this trip).

We left a wake up call for 7:00 am and went to bed.

Tomorrow–breakfast-donuts, lunch-snails, dinner-ice cream. Yep–we're in Disney World.

What a great aunt! Would you like to adopt another niece? :D

Thanks for sharing your trip with us.

Did you like The Grinch?

I'm a Grinch snob. I've been watching the cartoon and reading the book to my son for 18 years. Nothing can compare to the simplicity and innocence of the children's version. But, the movie was good, and I was able to point out the Mayor and other Whoville residents at IOA's Whobilation because I had seen it. Whoville at IOA was AWESOME--but that's another day in my trip report.

Your gifts were great. Sounds like your trip is off to a good start. Thanks for posting!

Wow! Sounds great....

After reading about the allstar movies resort I am getting a little jealous...

Can't wait to hear more.
