What the heck? Is this allowed? The mickeystoontown gang is back in the World and together again! Updated 4/13 x 6

Oh, that would be frustrating - you have the patience of a saint! I would have been back at the front desk a little quicker, and by then would have very sweetly let them know enough was enough. So happy everything worked out...although I am wondering about the new gift card!

On our second Disney trip and fist Polynesian stay we had not so great introduction the Poly . We were put in a first floor corner room...the patio was completely covered by bushes. So no outdoor space. I was alone with 3 kiddos...but we were so excited to be at the Poly. We ate at Capt Cooks went back to get changed so the kids could swim, when my daughter saw a large family of roaches crawling up the wall...yuck. I called the front desk (this was when it actually went to the front desk). She told me to come down first thing in the morning and they would find us another room right away...they would be sure it would be given priority cleaning so we could get in early, no later than noon. We were to leave our luggage in the current room to be moved directly to the new room. Next morning we did as told, packed up and left the
luggage in the room, went to the front desk to be assigned a new room. I reminded her about the roaches and how we hoped for a nicer room. I asked when we should return..she rather rudely said after 3 pm as that was check-in, no exceptions. I explained the situation and that I had been told we would have a room by noon at the latest and they would assign us a room and check us in this morning. Again, she said after 3. I was pretty upset...we were being treated like new guests even though we had a reservation for three nights. So off we went to the MK for the day....never got a room until after 6 pm. And it was the room directly above the previous roach room. This time I asked for a manager...he apologized over and over, said that was unacceptable and we should have been assigned a room that morning. He offered to change the room but the kids just wanted to swim and we were all tired of being room less. When we came back later there was a large gift basket with an apology note from Mickey. We stayed at our beloved Polynesian many times after that and it became our home away from home...but we never did have much luck with rooms...lol Except for my 60th birthday stay in December a few years ago...we had a great room location in Tokelau (my favorite longhouse), with a view of the Lagoon ...and they left balloons and chocolates for my birthday. 😃
 
Ugh, sorry you went through all of that with the Mousekeeping e-gift card and the check-in and out process. When we stayed at Movies in January of last year we had the same issue with our e-gift card not arriving after they sent it the first time. It did arrive for us the 2nd attempt though.

I would have been steaming about the housekeeper. You are way nicer than me. I would have stood and watched her till she cleaned the room! hahaha.

You should have tried upgrading the ticket at the park. I think you have better luck there than the resorts. It's amazing how dumb the people working there can be about things.
 
Loved the pictures from CBR! I never thought of taking a visit there. I miss staying there, it is our favorite resort. But adding two kids to our Disney trips make it more pricey to stay there now. Lol! Value Resorts it is!! Do you know of All Star Music rooms have been all refurbished yet? Wondering if they will be done by the time we go in August.
 


May I present to you the Earl! Do I need to curtsy?

Before I start this update, I found a picture of the ravioli that I ordered at Wolfgang Puck Express. I have no clue where I put the pictures of the rest of our morning/early afternoon.

We took the bus to Disney Springs and on the way, we told Lacey and Hunter how much Disney Springs had changed since the last time they had been there. We pulled up and they were amazed at how different it looked. Hunter and his girlfriend at the time had traveled with us in 2016 and he had seen it in the very early stages of the change. Even so, he couldn't get over how different it was.

Before we did anything else, we all needed some sustenance. Lacey and Hunter's lunch on the road had worn off and John and I were both hungry as well. After some going back and forth, we decided to give Earl of Sandwich a try. Believe it or not, this was a first for all of us. In all of our trips to Disney, we had never eaten there. Tonight, that would change.

We placed our order and waited to the side. While waiting, we kept an eye out for a table to open. It was packed and we were beginning to doubt that we'd find a place to sit. Just as we were about to give up hope, a family left and Lacey was able to snag their table. 100_0770.JPG

The buzzer went off a little while later and were all dug in. I chose a wrap with chicken and avocado.

John got the specialty Thanksgiving sandwich with turkey and cranberry sauce.

This was Lacey's sandwich which looks like a chicken and ham combination.

And Hunter had a sandwich with bacon and grilled chicken.

You'll have to forgive me for the short descriptions but I'm going off of my memory and it's pretty cloudy right now.

Of course, we laughed a lot and ate a lot. It was so nice to be back at our happy place with our little family.

I love Earl of Sandwich. They have a great tuna sandwich too. There is another one I get often as well, but can't think of it off the top of my head now.
 
I've eaten at Earl of Sandwich a couple of times and have enjoyed it each time. I'm surprised you guys have never made it there before, but there are so many great options at Disney Springs, both QS and TS. I feel like I've eaten at many of the places, and yet, when I look at the list of all of the restaurants there, I've eaten at such a small portion of them!
 


I’ve eaten at Earl of Sandwich before and it was pretty good. However, Wolfgang Puck Express is amazing!! It’s one of our favorites, like a hidden gem.

Sorry you had trouble with trash and your e-gift card. Ours showed up within minutes in January, but I heard a few people stating that they were having trouble getting theirs.

In all my visits I've never eaten at Beaches and Cream. I wont be on my next trip either, but we are thinking of doing a few ways at WDW before our cruise next year and if we do, we will then. That chili does look delicious!

Beaches and Cream is one of our favorites (I seem to say that about almost all Disney restaurants. LOL) and I am sad that we didn't get to eat there on our last trip.

I enjoyed reading about your travel to and from Disney Springs.

Sorry to say but they didn't. Not for the entirety of our stay.

Of course, I LOVED your visit to the Beach Club. It really is home for me.

I'm hearing a possible date for Beaches & Cream to reopen after refurbishment is Jan 4.

Nice updates, so sorry about your trash and gift card issues, hope they were resolved. I have never been to Beaches and Cream but I don't think I could go there and not get some sort of ice cream, even if I had to take it with me. Can't wait to hear more!

It felt so nice to see the resort back in working order and, despite the fact that it looked so different, it still felt like home.

Oh my gosh, what a frustrating day! Not what you expect from Disney-level service.

It was a super frustrating day all the way until the kids arrived.

Glad you got to leisurely check out the holiday decor at Disney Springs and the Contemporary. Too bad that you, and the kids, were not able to return to a room that was ready for you to relax and take it easy!


Don't get me started on those date-based park tickets!

I was so mad that I was told that I was grandfathered in and it would be no problem to upgrade just the two tickets without paying almost $200.00.

I always like to give a person a chance before I complain. However, I probably should have marched up to the front desk and raised heck.

It is our favorite as well. We went back again this past trip and missed it so badly. Music is still undergoing the room refurbishment and I believe they are currently working on building 10. I intend to put in a request that you all get a refurbished room.

There are sooooo many quick service options now. So much so that we are probably going to forego the Disney Dining Plan next trip and just do the counter/quick service plan.

Disney's customer service and mousekeeping was crappy! Thank goodness the kids' arrival was a good distraction.

Clare! I was trying my best to keep calm and not go crazy on them but geeeze it was hard!
 
First let me say that I don't know how I missed this report! Second I will say, I just read the whole thing, and it's great. Third, let me say that we are booked at a Value for October, and your issues at Movies is making me super nervous!!! We have gotten spoiled by the mods, but we were trying to do this year's trip on a tighter budget. We are doing the Dave Ramsey debt snowball, and our debt free date is in sight, so we are buckling down to get there quicker. We are booked for Pop. I have stayed there since the refurb, and the rooms are pretty nice. But, that was in 2016. I sure hope the service is not what you guys experienced at Movies!!

AGH...all the Disney food porn!!! I cannot wait! And, I am glad I caught this report today....the fun is just beginning with the arrival of Hunter and Lacey! Let the Toontown family shenanigans begin!!!
