What type of Dr is your PCP?

So does that mean you need a referral to get a well woman exam at the gyn?

I have a pcp who is a family doctor for illnesses and stuff, but I use my ob-gyn for the female well checks.
Pap smears and breast exams are done annually by the GP's. Referrals for mammograms or further cervical biopsies (should they be necessary) are done through them. Most Canadian women never see an actual gynecologist; certainly not for routine care.

I have been going to my PA for 30 years and love her to pieces!!! I'd see her before a "real" doctor except for a specialist.

My doc is an internist (doctor of internal medicine.) I see him every six months and try to stay away in the interim.:)

My pcp is a DO, family practice, and also has two Nurse Practitioners who work for him.

I moved about 5 years ago and had a heck of a time finding a PCP. I found a great Gyn easily, but it took me a couple of years to settle on a general practitioner. I hate going to the doctor and especially having my vitals taken. At my last appointment, my pulse and bp were finally normal so I’m getting comfortable with him and his staff.

When I moved to this area 5 1/2 years ago, I knew I wanted a female PCP and I wanted to be in the family practice that is part of the local hospital. I got a great DO. After about 2 years, she left and I was placed with another great DO. The second doctor only worked part time (she also worked at a medical school) and that made it difficult for me because I need to schedule visits around taking care of my grandkids, but she was great. Then she went to the medical school full time. I now see an ANP (adult nurse practitioner). She listens to me and manages to give me the time I need. And she has availability so it's easy to schedule a visit. She has been in this practice for quite a while and I don't see her going anywhere else.
