What Unique Festivals Are You Aware Of?

There is a Worm Grunting Festival in a small town called Sopchoppy, FL.

The only unique one around here is the Onion Festival, every February (I think that's when it is). We grow a unique type of onion down here, the 1015 onion.
I've never heard of the 1015 onion. I had to go to the Google to learn more about this sweet onion. Interesting! :sunny:

The Yamboree in Gilmer TX, which celebrates all things yam. They crown a Yam
Queen too. You used to win the title of queen by selling the most tickets. Even back in the 70s or 80s, that cost THOUSANDS for the winner.

We have a whole week dedicated to potatoes topped off with the potato bowl football game at the end of the week. We even have a free French fry feed that holds the world record for the largest
French fry feed (or something like that)

Well, there's the Garlic Festival in Gilroy, CA
And the Rattlesnake Festival in Sweetwater, TX
Tarantula Awareness Festival in Coursegold, CA

I've been to the Garlic Festival before. Apparently Fresno wants to be considered the Garlic capital of California since the area grows most of the garlic in the state.

I was thinking of going once as we were passing by Gilroy, but it was late in the day and the Festival would have been open for maybe an hour longer. But man could we smell that even a mile away. It was almost as pungent as the Harris Ranch feedlot.

Also not that much to do in Coarsegold, although I heard that there was interesting stuff going on with the tribal casino there. They were disenrolling members of the tribe, which cut off services and increased the casino payout for remaining members. And then there was the takeover of the casino by one tribal faction and the subsequent closure. I stayed there once and it was pretty nice (the hotel) but the rest of the place was so so.

Ah, yes, and the twins festival in Twinsburg and the Woollybear festival in Vermillion. I miss NE Ohio!

Here in SW PA there is a Rain Day festival in Waynesburg. It is supposed to rain on July 29 every year
:confused3

HA, I thought about Twinsday and the Woollybear festival ( we only know what that is, thanks to Dick Goddard) but decided to go with the Buzards, as it seem the most weird

Well - one time I was in San Francisco and stopped at a pizza place I like with my then 4 year old. Only there were a couple of men walking back to their car, who were apparently participants at the Folsom Street Fair. I said nothing and hoped my kid would just ignore it.

If you want a unique festival, yeah that would be it. I won't elaborate. Any adult (and I mean adult) is free to look up what the Folsom Street Fair is.

Moab music festival. You can book concerts in the canyons where the acoustics are unique. Or book one of the river raft trips, 3 or 4 days in the river and at night the outfitter sets up camp, cooks and serves food and drink, and the musicians who travel down the river with you play music.

Dh grew up where there was a Ramp Festival (a very strong smelling/tasting edible wild green) It's one nasty tasting veggie lol

Beer cheese(Winchester) and Spoonbread(whatever that is in Berea). Brass Bands(Danville) and Bigfoot(Lawrenceburg). You can celebrate horses(Georgetown), Chicken(London), and Wollyworms(Beattyville). I also think they celebrate the meteorite that hit Middlesboro(crater city). If the town is known for it, they celebrate it here in KY.
