Whats Better Than Champagne and OJ? A May '18 PTR COMPLETE 5/12

We really didn't like BoG lunch the two times we've done it, and I would pick LTT or the Plaza over it. (Though I've never been to LTT, but we're planning on it for this trip so far).

Thank you! I'm going to confirm with Mom that she is okay with this and cancel BOG... just makes sense! Can't wait to see what you think of LTT :o

Another vote for ditching BoG, especially if you had to use a non-QS dining credit there. I do prefer lunch to dinner there, but would unquestionably to LTT any day of the week.

Perfect, thanks! I think LTT is what we're going to end up with! Just makes sense...what was I thinking with BOG? :rotfl2:

The countdown is finally at 45 days - only 6 more weekends!

I don't really have much in the way of planning, other than Dad might want to upgrade us to Club Level

Dad originally told me that he wanted an upper level room, but I told him I didn't know how many floors there are but I'd put it in the room request. I spent some time scouring Touring Plans room views, etc and filled out the information for them to fax our request: Room 4577 (or something like it)

Two Queen Beds
Full Balcony
4th Floor
Overlooks the volleyball area (facing the Dolphin)

(You'll be happy to know that I learned how to resize photos. You're welcome :rotfl2:)

Anyway, I talked to my Dad and told him that we could be guaranteed a top floor room if we paid more... and there would be beer/wine/snacks in the lounge included in the price.... he asked to see how much extra it would cost! So I'll be doing that today... in between seeing my patients at work haha!

Real Life Updates

The next six weeks are going to be crazy busy for us!

This weekend is Easter and we decided to stay home and enjoy dinner just DH and I... well, our families aren't doing anything special to celebrate since my family really isn't talking and DH's family is going to his Uncles and they didn't invite us  Literally, DH called his parents this past weekend and asked what the plan was for the holiday and his parents said, "We're taking your grandmother to your uncles house" . And then thats it lol. So DH's brother might be joining us for a meal this weekend since he isn't invited to the Uncle's either

DH just found out this weekend that he has to go to Europe for work the week of 4/16... we talked about me joining him, because all we'd have to pay for is my flight and food when I get there... but ultimately decided against this since its more of a team building trip for DH and his coworkers and I'd be 'stuck' in a hotel room all day/some nights when DH attends work events. BOO.

THEN... I have a work conference 4/25-4/27 in Camden, Maine so DH and our fur baby are joining me and we're extending our stay for a long weekend! We're staying at the Grand Harbor Inn... it looks so cute and peaceful... I can't wait to do some sight seeing in Maine and take advantage of the soaking jacuzzi tub in our room

giphy.gif

There is just something so nice about clear Maine air.

After our trip to Maine I'll have one weekend before I leave for Disney!

Three days before we leave I have a follow up appointment with my dry eye specialist (loooong story... I've been dealing with issues with my vision since October)

Two days before we leave (aka: last work day since Disney) I have a dentist appointment for a cleaning... yay for clean teeth at Disney! :D:D

One day before we leave... The Parents/Nephew arrive!

I'm all caught up! Your fastpasses look great!

Anyway, I really liked the characters here, so that coupled with better Fantasmic seating/DH loving DHS/fantasmic (I think you said he loves Fantamsic? Or am I mixing him up with my dad? lol!) .. I'd say DO IT!
My DH has never really seen Fantasmic, which is one of the main reasons that I am considering the dining package at H&V. I wanted to see it on our Disneymoon, but DH was stressed about being late for Club Villain, so we left after about 10 minutes. Then we tried to see it this past trip, we even had FPs, but it was already mostly full even though we arrived at the beginning of the FP window; plus it seemed like at least half of the seats were reserved for the dining package. We'll probably end up doing the H&V package on our next trip, so hopefully it's not too bad when you go or I'll have to figure out another plan.

I think LTT is what we're going to end up with! Just makes sense...what was I thinking with BOG? :rotfl2:
I think that was definitely the best decision. I really liked BOG, except on our last trip it was a real letdown. :sad2:

It's getting close!!! :cool1: I'm so jealous of everyone with their May trips! October is just so far away. :sad1:

Sounds like the fun kind of crazy though! :cool2:

Sounds like you'll be really busy between now and Disney so your trip should be here before you know it! Hope you enjoy Maine, we've been scheduled to go up there a few times now but something always comes up One of these days....

Let us know how Club level goes with you Dad. My guess is paying that much more to guarantee a top floor won't go over well, but it wouldn't be the first time I was wrong. Plus as much as your parents want 3 meals a day - plus adding in the club level snacks - you may have to wheel them outta there :P

Thank you! Change of plans... I can't go to Maine because DH's Europe trip dates got changed to the dates we were supposed to be in Maine... ugh. Anyway, you should totally plan a trip to ME! It's beautiful! DH agreed to let us check out Kennebunkport this summer as I would love to see the Bushs'... in a non political way I just think they are cutest family lol.

Ummm yeah.. too much money. lol. The 3 meals per day are really going to push me over the edge hahah... I guess it's a good test to self control?? Theres literally zero reason why I need to eat everything or order an appetizer ... hahaha we'll see how that goes... :rotfl:

Friends! The countdown is officially at 40 days!

I have a few misc updates- this is your warning that this post will be all over the place!

Club Level is not going to happen it was waaayyy too much extra - but thats fine, like @kastoney pointed out, 'free snacks' is the last thing we need given that my parents want 3 TS per day :rolleyes1

This past week has been a roller coaster of planning our spring... DH found out that his co worker's husband will be going to Slovakia, so our plans temporarily changed and I was going to join him! This meant I'd have someone to hang out with during the day while DH (and his co workers) work! DH's mom was going to watch our fur baby and the stars seemed to be aligning! BUT then one of DH's co workers 'forgot' that he had his kids during the dates of the trip so the dates got changed.. to the same dates of my conference in Maine! ***! And then DH's Mom couldn't get the new dates off of work to watch our fur baby.. so I had to cancel Maine, and can't join DH to Slovakia.

BUT I'M STILL GOING TO DISNEY!

In other news I'm ordering these shirts for us to wear for at least 5 min to take a picture :rotfl:

Screen Shot 2018-04-02 at 6.34.51 AM.png

If anyone on here can make four of them for me for less than $60 let me know :rotfl2:

Lastly, some humor for everyone. .... just an FYI these are all in good fun! My Mom and is so funny and crazy... her name is Tammy, and my cousin and joke back and forth about the things our moms say. We call these 'Tammy Tales' for my mom and 'Sandy Stories' for her mom, because her mom's name is Sandy. Here some excerpts of convos my mom and I have had about our trip... some Tammy Tales!

29 days from today I'll be on the place to Disney with my crazy family!

Most of our plans are set, but there are few updates

First... I got this amazing email yesterday

Screen Shot 2018-04-14 at 6.28.49 AM.png

The extended hours make me so happy, particularly because we only have four park days and I want to do EVERYTHING! #notgoingtohappen

MK closing at 11pm instead of 9pm on arrival day (5/13) really makes me want to head back to MK after our dinner at Yachtsman. Hopefully we can catch Wishes but if not just being able to get a few rides in without toooo long of lines would be great! I'm guessing that the parents will want to call it a night after dinner, but Adam will be able to stay up with me... I know this because he's on snapchat all night anyway :rotfl:

Speaking of... my Mom said that she wants to make a rule for Adam to be off his phone by 11:30pm each night (he'd literally stay on it all night...) I said that I am not his parent nor do I plan on parenting on this trip... as long as he wakes up when he needs to and isn't grouchy I don't care what he does. The benefits of being an Auntie :goodvibes

I am not worried about him being in a bad mood because of lack of sleep at all... the kid is ALWAYS happy. I've only seen him have a meltdown once in his 14 years of life... when he was 8 and the restaurant we were at didn't put cheese on his cheese burger!

AK is staying open until 10pm our arrival night so maybe Adam will want to go there instead since we are spending our morning/afternoon at MK? TBD.

Adam told me he has been watching Rock N Rollercoaster on Youtube and can't wait to ride it... I'm so excited! I haven't ridden this in 10 years and I always get so nervous just sitting in the 'limo' waiting but the ride is so fun! I read online you sit in the limo for about two minutes before and then the actual ride is 1.5 minutes long... I can handle that!

I am SO happy that because of EMH MK is open until 12am on our last night! Our driver is scheduled to pick us at 4am for the airport the next day... so who needs sleep?

And this morning I got this great emaill!

I plan on getting two more updates in before we leave so stayed tuned for final adjustments!

I'm late but I'm joining in!!

I live about 20 minutes from Logan but would much rather drive to Manchester! I hate that southwest doesn't have any direct flights from boston to Orlando.

Your plans look great, sorry about the family drama but glad it all worked out in the end!

Also on a unrelated note to Disney. Arent you glad winter is finally over?!?!!?! Now the warmth just needs to stick around

I was just thinking they hadn't extended May hours yet and the hours were looking a little too early and then I got that email too!

Well it's not a cheeseburger then! :rotfl:

YES! I prefer MHT too!

Thanks! Until we are actually on the plane I'll continue to be on edge lol

YES!! Tomorrow is supposed to be cold again... ugh. So over it!

You will be fine on Rock N Roller Coaster!! I was super nervous to ride it in 2013 since I hadn't ridden in since 2005- but I loved it so much it ended up becoming my 2nd favorite ride!!

I’m very over it!! It’s so hard to get excited about spring when we have one warm day and then it’s so cold the next day. Hopefully we will get some warmth before your trip and then you can bring the Florida sun up here

Yay so happy to hear! It sounds so cheesy but I'm really looking forward to 'sharing' these moments with my nephew.... its rare I get 1:1 time with him... usually when I see him its splitting my attention between him, his brother, his dad (my brother), his mom and my parents... and if my other brother is there its such craziness!

YES! Today its rainy ish and cold. Bye felicia, bye. lol!!

I wasn't planning on writing another update for a few more days, but I have some exciting news...

I'm going back to Disney 6/24-6/28 for a work conference!

Even better.... we're staying at the Grand Floridian... I've died and gone to heaven

200w.webp

I have $2000 for continuing education through my work left to use before October 1st so I was able to get my work to pay for our hotel room thanks to a great rate offered for conference attendees ($262/night!)! After the conference and hotel I have $390 for a flight and food... so I'll be cutting it close, but I plan on using my swagbucks rewards for a Disney Gift card for food costs. I tt my Dad about this conference last night and told him I want upgrade to an AP while we're there in May as I think it'll only be $300 or $400... and he said, "well we can just put that on my credit card, for an early wedding anniversary gift"

Oh Dad, I love you. :goodvibes

The conference schedule is super plush

Mon: 8am-11am
Tues 2pm-5pm
Wed 2pm-5pm
Thurs 8am-10am

I had been tt DH about this for a few weeks and were going back and forth if we could make this trip work. We have a wedding to attend 6/29, and DH's mom is taking fur baby for that night so we can stay at a hotel overnight near the wedding. Then my MIL told us she was going to take the entire week off from work... DH tt MIL and she agreed to watch fur baby for us the entire week so we could go on this trip!

I still need to find flights for us but I actually haven't seen DH since I booked this trip because he's traveling for work. We need to decide if we want to pay OOP for an extra night before/day the conference.

We can't get the DDP since we're staying with a conference rate.. boo. Right now have $349 worth of points on our CC, and we typically use those points to pay for a trip so between that money and if I can get $200 worth of Disney GCs via swagbucks we're really won't be spending too many money!

As for park tickets, we'll just need to buy these for DH. The CM I tt yesterday said there are discounted tickets for conference attendees/their guests, including if you go to the park after 1pm its $97 for a one day single park ticket, and then $67 if you enter the park after 5pm. For 4 day base tickets, $364.
I'm not sure how much we'll be going to the park because DH really wants to get some R & R and having just visited the parks a month earlier I might be okay with minimal parks... then again, maybe not :rotfl:

Now to throw a 'wrench' in our plans... I have a cousin that grew up in Florida, and moved to Atlanta a few years ago due to her husbands work. They are moving back to Orlando in a few days ... and they are going to be attending the same wedding we are 6/29 in New Hampshire so maybe I'll try to coordinate the same flights as them from MCO to Boston or Manchester, NH 6/29 if I can talk DH into staying an extra night. Or maybe we can Uber from GF to my cousin's house and spend the night with them, see their house and meet their kids?

Ok, I'm rambling. No one likes wordy posts and no picture

I'll be back with an update tomorrow or the next day for my May trip... which, by the way, is only 22 days away!

Following! Love your PTR so far. We will overlap with your trip a bit: our dates are May 15 - 20th. Celebrating my DS's high school graduation and my DH's fiftieth birthday!

Love your GIFs!

Hey! SO happy to have you here! It's so close for our trips! Where are you staying?! What a great way to celebrate HS grad and a 15th bday, both very special occasions!

I read through pages 3 - 6 this morning and I'm EXHAUSTED :). JK.

Glad to see most everything is resolved, especially since you're/we're so close to our departure dates!!! :cloud9:

I'm super lucky that my kids (DD 20 and DS 18) still want to head to the World for vacations with us. Our last trip was the week before Christmas last December - first time for us with Christmas decorations and it was fantastic. However, DS was a grump most of the trip (turns out he was stressed to be missing a week of school - even though he cleared it with all his teachers and guidance counselor - and a week of basketball and he still had to finish his college applications :sad2:) so I am really looking forward to this trip! We're staying at the Boardwalk villas in 2 studios. We've never done this before so it will be interesting.

Didn't mean to hijack your thread - - I'm just excited to find a funny PTR for the same time as my trip!

I've got to update my spreadsheet (yes, I have one, too) for any EMH I may not have seen!

Oh, and I'm also in MA and loving this mini-warm stretch we are FINALLY having!

THE GF IN JUNE YAAASSS!!!!

:banana::banana::banana:

You'll LOVE it omg... Although it is dangerous... The trip after my September 2016 trip I stayed at All Star Music and it was definitely a culture shock :rotfl2:
