My last boss would give me any 'ol title she felt appropriate for the time but but when I asked for a raise she threatened to raise my butt up and out. Sniffles.

I don’t know if I ever have gotten a true “promotion”. I have gotten more work, maybe with more pay. But never worked a job where “promotions” were a thing.

I was promoted to full professor in June. As long as I stay a professor that's the last promotion for me - there's no rank above that. It took 17 years to go through the ranks, which is pretty normal.

Last fall.
It was really my first "official" promotion rather than just regular time-in-grade kind of things. Pretty exciting, actually.
