Which Hotel is better?

We are leaving in 3 weeks for a week in vegas. Right now we have booked NYNY but I am just not sure. I have read some bad reviews. The last time I was there was Jan 2000 so it has been a while. Back then it was a nice hotel never stayed there but loved there casino. Today I get a email offer from Monte Carlo for $60 less then what we would pay at NYNY. SO now I am like should I just keep NYNY or re book with Monte Carlo. They seem to have the same reviews some good some not so good. So which one do you think is better?

Also has anyone ever use the shuttle trolly that runs through the strip? We won't have a car. So wondering if this will help with less walking.

Thanks

I've stayed at both and they were both just fine. I have been getting e-mails daily from all the hotels, give me the exact dates you are going and I can see if there is a better deal. How much are you paying a night for NYNY?

I got a rate of NYNY for 74 for 3 nights and 79 for one night plus some extra stuff you get with the booking. Which is what I have booked.

I got a email from Monte Carlo for 59 each night.

Dates of travel Sept 1-5th leaving on the 5th.

I also got a email from the Mirage for $77 a night....Now I am all confused on what to do???????

Yea I saw that today. I called and they said that I would have to go online and make new reservation and then rebook the other. It is only a savings of $35 so I figure with the extra perks it is worth it to keep the one I have. Usually the closer the time to go prices get more expensive but this time they are getting cheaper would be my luck for booking really early...

Just ready for the time to get here feels like forever.

You may want to continue to watch between now and then. We were there in July and the week before our stay a code came out that saved us a significant amount of money.

With the perks, you just have to weigh out if that perk will be one you will use or not.

Sorry the code didn't help you!

Have a great trip!

Does anyone know about the shuttle trolley that runs up and down the strip? Is it really hard to find? Does it save on walking or using the monorail?

Are you travelling with kids? Mirage is nice, the pool is great. Monte Carlo is right beside all the construction so not sure how that would affect the rooms. As for the "deuce", it's the double decker bus that runs up and down the strip, it costs $5 for unlimited travel for 24hrs...it runs every 10 mins I think. I have been to Vegas 3 times in the last year and have never used the monorail, sorry. I hear it's pricey though.

What are you planning on doing while you are there?

Let me look at my e-mails and see what other hotel deals there are for those dates.

DD and I just stayed at Monte Carlo in June. I was worried about the construction area but we had a great room and it was very quiet. Every time we have stayed at NYNY we've gotten a room close to the roller coaster and it was horrible!!!!!

I love Monte Carlo because it's not as HUGE as other hotel/casinos, has an awesome Brew Pub and a great food court. It's an easy walk to the MGM to get on the monorail and back and their rooms are really great for the $$$.

For me I'd say Monte Carlo but then I've had bad experiences at NYNY so that clouds my judgment.

Also the Trolley is OK but the monorail really helps a lot! It runs behind all the casinos on the MGM side but we loved it. You can buy a share pass or a solo pass but we liked it better as the trams came every 10 min and you didn't have to sit out in the heat as long as you did on the Trolley!

Have fun no matter where you stay!

I stayed at NYNY in 2000, so it was several yrs ago. I, too, cannot give an unbiased opinion because of unrelated events on that particular trip. I don't remember the standard room being very big. My friends were staying in the honeymoon suite, which was very spacious, but it only had a king bed w/ a rollaway.

I stayed at the Monte Carlo in 2003, and really liked it. I thought the rooms were nicer. I preferred the location as well. The best thing, in my opinion, that NYNY has to offer is the roller coaster. Besides that, I'd skip it.

Well I went ahead an cancelled my reservation at NYNY. So now I am booked at Monte Carlo for $55 a night so I saved about $100 by moving. I was hearing too much about NYNY and the construction that was going on in the hotel. So hopefully we will enjoy the Monte Carlo. Is it a pretty easy walk to Bellagio? Venitian?

As far as the hotels Sun-Thurs is the cheapest rates. I don't know about flights....

The monorail that runs along the strip is convenient for traveling long distances along the strip, but the stops are way in the back of the hotels and are really a long way from the strip itself.

It works if you don't have a car and don't mind walking a fair bit, but cabs are quite useful for shorter distances.
