Will any projects permanently halt due to COVID-19?

I think EPCOT will get the festival center in some form. It seemed like it was going to be the first part of the new center of the park to be built anyway so it may already be paid for, and they may already have the materials. They need a festival center of some kind. If they scrap Play, they could always move the festival center back there. Barring that, I don’t think they’d finished tearing down Innoventions West when the parks closed. I wonder if a really extensive renovation of what’s left of that would be cheaper than building a whole new building....
There were no new buildings replacing Innoventions West. The Festival Center and Journey of Water would take that space. That’s if either is still happening.

I doubt we will see any love for the monorail except patches; with the exception of trains that have already had makeovers and ones where maybe the inside has been ordered, but not yet installed. It's a shame - I keep holding out hope that one day the system will regain it's former glory. The last thing it needs right now is more band-aids.

Overall, I doubt we will see any of the improvements that have been considering for the transportation side of things; since it's easy to just contract more mears buses; and with expected lower attendance, they won't be stressed anyway.

Here’s my dismal take....I don’t think many people outside of the Uber-fans have a clue that hotel is being built. Disney only cares about profitability; if you look at other examples (like the Pirate and Princess parties and the Starlit Hui), Disney will stop (or retool to monetize) anything that isn’t profitable enough. Also, many years of lodging discount tactics (like free dining) have shown us that Disney does not like to discount rooms, as it alters the perception of room value and makes it harder to sell at rack rate.

So, if they think they can’t open and continue to operate 365 days a year (or close) at full occupancy and at rack rate, it will be halted until they do. I’ve been saving my Disney Visa rewards for a stay there, but I fear now they will be expired before it opens. I hope you’re right and I’m wrong, though.

I'm not sure "high-profile" is the defining factor. I think it is more that contracts for custom specialty fabrications and programming have been signed, work has been done, and those folks want to finish it and get paid (as they deserve to). Many of these are small businesses, and it really would not do Disney's reputation any good to stonewall them. Most regular building contractors can be redeployed to other projects if a specific building project is targeted for delay, but a lot of these theatrical specialists cannot.

I’m not sure if Disney cares about that or not. I mean, I’m sure they can always get “the next guy” if the folks they were to stonewall decided not to bid on their other future work. Believe me, I’m not saying that’s RIGHT; I’m just saying I’m afraid that might happen. And as another poster noted, as small as it is, and the potentially exorbitant price they’d likely be able to fetch, it might actually be a money-maker if they go ahead and finish.

I could be wrong, but I think a lot of the "sets" for the SW hotel have already been built, they were just waiting to be loaded in to the facility so I doubt Disney would start that process again with another contractor. I think the fact that the project was already pretty far along and the small size combined with the high price (that Disney will still be able to demand) will make this project a priority for Disney. Also, they likely still have time to make adjustments to the physical property and the experience itself to make it more conducive to social distancing if that is still a factor in the future.

I hope you’re right. Although I’ve pretty much given up on my near-term plan to stay there, I’d still really love to do it one of these days.

If rumors hold any truth, pricing may be in line with a cruise. I've heard people theorizing that the sanitation for SW hotel may be in line with the cruise line measures.

While the pricing is going to be in line with a DCL (along with some level of all-inclusiveness) the hotel is still going to be on land with the easier sanitation operations that allows. Combine that with the fact that there seems to be fewer than 100 rooms planned and none of the CMs have to stay "on board" for the duration of the stay, not to mention the "excursion" to SWGE, there shouldn't be anywhere close to the issues of a cruise. I do think the SW hotel experience as initially planned might need to be tweaked to be better able accommodate social distancing (or future situations which require it), but the sanitation issue should be no different than a typical hotel.

Just my opinion, based on no facts
but if they haven't broke ground, I see a scrap until further notice
Am I the only one who's okay with that? For example, I like Spaceship Earth the way it is, and I'm not looking forward to Boardwalk Inn resort rooms being de-themed- I mean, "refurbished" lol. I thought Cinderella's Castle was prettier before its new paint job. New isn't always better.

I also wouldn't mind having less construction going on for a while. I'm sick of construction walls & cranes all over the place. Just finish up the current projects & consider that good enough for a few years. That would be just fine with me.

IDK if the above was mentioned but I believe Reflections was either cut or put on an indefinite hiatus
also Spaceship Earth which was supposed to go down back in May WILL be open when Epcot reopens
also also...I would bet that the Splash Mountain overhaul will bump up a few of the previously in the works projects
