Will the shower soap/shampoo/lotion dispensers be put into DVC rooms?

While tampering may or may not become an issue, bacterial contamination is a realistic concern...

While the studies were of dispensers in public restrooms, the contamination is thought to have occurred during the refill process, and biofilms are created.

So does this mean we should never use a public restroom? Or always carry our own soap https://www.amazon.com/Travelon-Hand-Toiletry-Sheets-50-Count/dp/B001CGOPZM, but then do you want to touch the faucet handles nor the paper towel dispenser as others that used the contaminated soap touched them? And of course, then I have contaminated the my own soap dispenser because my hands might be dirty from using the facilities.

This problem is giving me a headache. :worried:

Refillable bottles are already in use in a lot of hotel chains in Europe, I'd say it's becoming the norm. The fact we are not all dead means there is not really much to worry about.

I have seen them in some hotel chains in the US, too.

Are they refilling the bottles or just replacing them when empty?

So tacky. Am I at a Disney Deluxe resort or my local gym?

I think it's becoming more common for environmental and of course cost reasons. Last year I stayed at a Four Seasons that had the mounted dispensers on the wall of the shower. It was a smaller, more environmentally focused Four Seasons, so it was a special case, but still it's happening even at expensive resorts.

If it's good enough at FS, it should be good enough at DVC!

Marriott is changing to bulk dispensers in many of their brands including Westin.

Anyone seriously concerned about health issues of bulk dispensers should never ever go to a buffet, self service condiment bar etc.

Agree with you ! Never been a fan of the scents in the Disney provided products so I’ve been bringing my own shampoo, body wash etc for years and not using what’s provided in any hotel rooms or dvc

Tried to look through the whole thread for this info, but didn’t see it. Are they still going to prove small bottles of lotion or sunburn gel (where they are currently given)?

Friday at AKL Jambo they still supplied a small bottle of lotion along side the soap at the sink. I have never seen any sunburn gel.

I was very concerned about this being done because I could just imagine all the gross things people could put into those bottles for the next unsuspecting person  BUT I was pleasantly surprised when I saw a pic on here that someone had posted that showed the containers in jail  They were in a silver holder that locked over the bottles. So that being said, I’m fine if it rolls out to DVC:scratchin

As someone who frantically tried to get conditioner out of one (that turned out to be empty), I can assure you they are in jail for sure! :thumbsup2

There was absolutely no way to get the top off unless it was unlocked. DH came in to see what the ruckus was as I jiggled the bottle in some strange attempt to get the little bit of conditioner to slide around until it would pump out (I don't even know what I was thinking at this point, I just wanted some hair conditioner and I was kind of miffed that I let DH talk me out of packing any for such a short trip :rotfl2:).

When housekeeping dropped by to remedy the situation they replaced the whole bottle (which may have been because the bottle already in the room was completely empty and we had other housekeeping concerns or it may be the norm, or maybe they noticed my soaking wet hair at 11 pm and figured I might not want to wait for one bottle to empty into another. I didn't ask- I was just glad they showed up at all when I had assured them numerous times it could wait until the morning).
