Windsor Hills Review

We stayed at Windsor Hills Resort for the first time towards the end of May. We are a family of 5 with older kids, (17, 21 and 24). We really enjoyed our stay there and would stay there again.

We rented a 3 bedroom condo through http://www.vacationcentralflorida.com/. I highly recommend them. They certainly had the best prices. $624.26 for a 7 night stay isn't too shabby. The communication was great as well from both the manager of the website, Dave, and the condo owner, Debbie. Debbie answered all my emails withing 24 hours.

We specifically rented this condo http://www.vacationcentralflorida.com/windsorhillscondos/3bedroom301.html.

This was very close to the pool. Just one building away. One of my concerns about Windsor Hills was that it was so large and we are not big pool people. We weren't going to get in the car or walk a long distance to get there. I wasn't certain if we would go to the pool at all but we did...twice. I saw that a lot people drove to the pool. Since there was one building between us and the pool it also meant no pool noise. :D

I was a little disappointed that the water slides were not open yet. Hopefully they will be able to rectify whatever issues they are having soon. I was eavesdropping while in the hot tub and I thought I heard a guy who said he was an owner say that it had something to do with the fencing and it not being up to code. It was hard to hear with all of the hot tub bubbles. :rolleyes1

The condo was also close to the entrance. Once again Windsor Hills is large so it was nice not to have to drive a half mile at 10 mph after being at the parks all day.

The kitchen was well stocked with plenty of dishes, pots, pans etc. There were plenty of towels available as well.

The condo was clean and had plenty of space for my family of 5. The tv in the master bedroom was small but I was really too tired to watch tv.

It took us less than 15 minutes to get HS, Epcot and AK. MK was a little farther. One day DH dropped me and my daughter off at the TCC as the rest of the crew were going to US. That was about a 15 minute drive. The day that we went to MK it was about a 25 minute drive from condo to parking. We parked at 8:27. I thought that would give us plenty of time to get to the castle for opening show however the monorail was down. We had to take the ferry and it was 9:19 when we entered the park.:sad::sad: My suggestion is to leave the condo at 7:50 if you want to see the morning greeting at MK but otherwise leaving at 8:00 or 8:10 is fine for 9 am rd at the other parks.

I only had minor complaints that would not prevent me from renting here again.

1) Every time we turned on the ceiling fan in the master bedroom I started to sneeze immediately. I left a note for the cleaning crew with the suggestion that it be dusted.

2) It really would have been nice to have a self next to the sink in the master bathroom. The sink wasn't quite large enough to spread out the way we like but we really don't like putting our stuff away. :P

(Sorry, I don't know how to make this smaller)

3) They were refurbishing the condo at 304 which was the first condo at the end of the hall. While there was a hall between us it was incredibly loud. They were installing hard wood floors. It made taking a midday nap impossible. On the upside, they were done the day before we left. Also, if you want a condo with brand new hardwood floors find out who is renting #304. Otherwise this was a very quiet place to stay.

All in all, I really liked the stay. I did kind of miss the Disney bubble but with a family of 5 that simply isn't in the budget.

PS: In case you need to utilize a cab. We took a cab from Epcot. Cost $30.

Here are a few more photos. I tried to take photos that were not seen on the other websites.

Master bedroom had Winnie the Pooh theme:

The pool had a sundry shop and snack bar. The Keurig coffee machine came in handy as I did not bring enough coffee. It was about $2 for a cup but still cheaper than the coffee at the parks or Starbucks.

View of from the stairwell.

View from our balcony to our parking lot. This is where we parked. The condo was right off the stairway but a little ways down from the elevator.

And last but not least me at the pool with the pina colada from the snack bar. They had alcoholic and non-alcoholic. I think $4.98 (with tax) for alcohol and $3.98 for non-alcoholic. It was refreshing but I couldn't really taste the alcohol.

For some reason I can't get my photos to go in. They are too large and I can't figure out how to make them smaller. I've already gone to this link: https://www.disboards.com/threads/y...rectly-in-to-your-post.3376079/#post-53003656

I will keep trying.

All right, I am still trying. I can get one photo per post to show up otherwise it is telling me my file is too large. I am having to copy photos and paste in word document. I'm making the photo smaller and then click "save image as". I can't figure out how to make them small enough to post more than one. I was hoping that if I did the thumbnail version it would work but it doesn't.

Success by sending via email from my cell phone and then saving. Kind of a pain but soon there will be food porn. :dancer:

Next time you want to post photos you can edit your photos in Paint on your computer, if you have a PC and not a Mac. There's an option to resize the picture.

Horrible stay at this location. The owner of the condo "Sylvia" charged our group $250 dollars for changing the thermostat. The Windsor Hills claims no responsibility because it's through private home owners and that they can basically do whatever they want. Apparently it's against the rules to change the temperature or put it on hold past the schedule they set it to. They also said we tampered with the pool to change the heat, and that it's behind some lockbox that was either left open for us to use or not properly noticed for their desires to keep it a certain temp. Sorry for using the facilities we paid for, I guess we shouldn't use the chairs or the silverware either. On top of all this, the condo itself was crappy. The beds were hard as rocks, I woke up sore every morning. The ceiling fans squeaked all night while we tried to get cool (but don't change the temp!), and the garage was really a mess with a broken air hockey table and everything left unplugged for us to figure out how to get them turned on again. You can only create 2 bags of trash per day for the outside storage, and if you have more you have to walk it a mile to the nearest compactor. The list goes on and on. You can do better than this. Don't trust a place that won't go to bat for you when you're getting screwed by a private vigilante person who is squeezing you for dollars on top of your high rental prices. Worst part of our trip was staying at this third world hell hole.

Interesting. We've stayed at WH every year for 15 years. In all the different accommodations. From condos to single family homes. Yes, they are all privately owned. I do a ton of research and check all reviews as best as I can. We've had overwhelmingly good experiences. We don't expect WH to correct what a bad owner has done. Best you can do is leave a bad review on whatever site you rented from. But I wouldn't trash all of WH.The common areas and the pool are well kept. To each their own. Sorry for your bad experience.
