You win some you booze some, a HOT August 2017 dining report! complete 1/25*

A resort map, welcome letter, our itinerary listing our FP's and ADR's printed out, a note from the chef at Artist Point inviting us to partake from a special menu for Club Level guests if we chose to eat there, and a box full of THIS:

As if I needed another reason to stay CL

Eventually the GM came back with ONE KTTW card for us to use for the time being. Oh also, because it had taken so long for someone to escort us up and then because we waited for the KTTW card (not sure why they didn't just give us the key when we were downstairs checking in, but oh, well) he had the on-duty CL CM call down to Whispering Canyon and tell them we'd be a bit late for our ADR. Since he'd done that, we went to the lounge to look around at the snack offerings before going to eat.
Get ready for some pics!
At least they were super accommodating for you, but I guess that's what you'd expect with CL

Ahhh, club level sounds amazing!!! I am constantly in awe every time I see pictures of WL - it's just SO beautiful!!! :cloud9:

In tech fail news, some of you may have noticed that I finally posted a picture on my Instagram account!

I saw that! I was so proud!

A box full of Wilderness Lodge Club Level chocolate!! There were 2 pieces like the top one showing the Totem Pole from the lobby surrounded by those little balls of deliciousness

That looks so good! And it's really cute.

A little WL spa water of the day for @Raeven whom I know enjoys it!

:rotfl: I'm not a huge fan of lemons though. The one I really like is the one at AKL.

Trying to catch up around here and I can't remember if I already commented on your Plaza lunch! So I will do it again just in case :)

Yes that's my 15 year old, yes I posted it in my TR also, and no it isn't a food pic, but I love it so much I had to post it here, too. And yes he did willingly pose for this although he had no idea what it was going to turn out to be!

This made me laugh. I don't think there is any amount of bribery that would get my 14 year old to do this lol.

The restaurant was getting busier by the minute and by 11:30, every table was filled.

Yeah we tried to get a walk in at 11:00 am right when they opened but no luck. I will definitely try to get an ADR for this next time.

We will definitely return here,

Yum!!! Everything looked so good.

Damn, I was going to as the bartender at Citricos to mash some up in the blender with a drink for you like my cousin did with the squid to me. Maybe if Casey agrees to meet a princess in Epcot with me I'll refrain from doing that :D
You got a deal!!!!!!!!!!

img_6573-jpg.267658

The boys liked this even though they thought it was way sweet. I once again loved my margarita and I promised I'd have another on all future visits to Pandora :thumbsup2
Will most definitely have to give this a try. I'm not usually much for frozen drinks, but for tequila I think I can make an exception :P

He showed us the lounge and brought us to our room, where he informed us the Magic Band system was down so our bands not only wouldn't get us in the lounge, but wouldn't get us in our room:headache:
What? How does the entire system go down? Wonder what happened to everyone else trying to get in their room or charge something with their band.

img_6579-jpg.267669

A box full of Wilderness Lodge Club Level chocolate!! There were 2 pieces like the top one showing the Totem Pole from the lobby surrounded by those little balls of deliciousness :rolleyes1 not to be confused with the annoying balls of Pandora drinks. It took us a few days to actually break the big bars of chocolate because they were so pretty but we dug into those balls right away!
Yum, I remember those chocolates but no balls when we stayed there a few years back. I'm sure I would have loved to dig into the balls too :P

img_6586-jpg.267850

They also had veggie chips here and not pictured are ingredients to make your own trail mix (my picture came out blurry. I know they had pretzels, marshmallows and small chocolate chips.
Their snack offerings seem to have expanded too. All I remember was a few jars of pretzels and gummy bears.

And there was most definitely not draft beer. Score!!!! Though can you not get it during the day :confused3

Wow everything at Narcoosee's dinner looked amazing. I've only had the brunch there. So I'm trying to figure a place to go to for Steve's birthday in Dec. So far I have ADRs for Jiko, but now I am questioning it. Maybe we should do Narcoosee's, but I have the brunch there booked for Dec as well. We were also thinking of Citrioco's since we had an amazing meal there last weekend, but we are going again in November. Hmmm...so many choices!

Wow CL looks amazing. I will totally try that one day! I love all the food options you posted. Can't wait to see more of it!

I've been reserving and canceling Citrico's and Narcoosee's dinners back and forth for a dinner before MVMCP. I think I'm going to stick with Narcoosee's, even though DH does not eat seafood, mostly because the lobster looks delicious and because I think we'd both love the cheesecake. But then I look at the Citrico's menu and I know DH would love the seasonal flatbreads and the Key Lime pie. Now I've just talked myself into switching yet again...

Thanks for the reviews!

Can't wait to hear more about your WL CL. We've only stayed CL twice once at the CR and at AKL which was amazing. I've read about the WL CL and their wonderful soups. The view from the lounge is gorgeous.
Love you pic of Jazz so cute.

Following along and all caught up now :)
:welcome: I hope you're enjoying it so far!

I did, he seemed pretty rational. Rachel and Brandon weren't though, but it worked out in Brandon's favor saving Rachel since she won and he married her.
Yes Jeff was totally rational and a decent guy. Brandon was a weakling lol, however they're still together with a kid, too!

he cat bed is really cute. It looks like a miniature sofa. Jazzy is cute, too. :)
Thanks! I couldn't resist when I saw it at Petco :cat:

It is really nice of them to print out the itinerary, but it also feels a little creepy to have them know everything you are planning.
I did feel it was creepy for a minute when I first saw it. Then I realized well, printed out itinerary or not they know what we're doing, just strange to see it in print!

I could never figure out why the lounges were so stingy with bottled water. It is nice to see that WL CL serves the bottles of water.
I don't understand it either and I still see it posted that most lounges don't put it out. Makes no sense! They do seem to give it to guests when requested though. Ricky and Steve drink tons of water so I was also glad they had it stocked regularly.

At least they were super accommodating for you, but I guess that's what you'd expect with CL
I was glad they were accommodating so far and yes, you certainly expect them to be when you're paying for CL even if you're getting a great discount!

Ahhh, club level sounds amazing!!! I am constantly in awe every time I see pictures of WL - it's just SO beautiful!!! :cloud9:
WL is absolutely gorgeous  Every time I go there I'm in awe all over again! I'm going to miss staying there in Nov. even though I know we'll be back again on a trip soon.

I saw that! I was so proud!
LOL! Even though you showed me how to post pictures I couldn't remember how to get on my actual page

This made me laugh. I don't think there is any amount of bribery that would get my 14 year old to do this lol.
If Ricky knew what the end result was going to be I don't think he would've posed for it either, but he had no idea. And l unlike Christopher Ricky doesn't usually say no when adults ask him to do something, and tat CM was being very nice yet persuasive about getting him back in the street for it!

You got a deal!!!!!!!!!!
Great!
Does Casey know that lol?

Will most definitely have to give this a try. I'm not usually much for frozen drinks, but for tequila I think I can make an exception :P

What? How does the entire system go down? Wonder what happened to everyone else trying to get in their room or charge something with their band.
I have no idea, but I believe they meant just the resort's system. And I did wonder about other guests, it seemed from how they described it that it was only guests checking in that day or since the system went down? Who knows, all I cared about was that it was affecting us :snooty:

I'm sure I would have loved to dig into the balls too :P
Yuppers, never doubted that for a sec 8-)

And there was most definitely not draft beer. Score!!!! Though can you not get it during the day :confused3
Nope you couldn't get it during the day, only from 5:00 on as well as the wine and then from 8:00 on the cordials. I forgot to write that in my update, once 5:00 came there was a CM stationed at the taps to serve you.

The decision is a hard one, but I am SO glad to hear you enjoyed your Citricos meal! Did you happen to have Rony as your server? He's our buddy ::yes:: I can't wait for you to write up your dinner because I want to know what you had!!! So I'd go with Citricos for his bday since it's our favorite. Although Narcoossee's brunch is totally different from dinner so if brunch is a different day than the dinner would be, maybe that. Sorry, no help!

Wow CL looks amazing. I will totally try that one day!
I'm surprised you guys haven't done it yet but you should definitely try it!

Can't wait to hear more about your WL CL. We've only stayed CL twice once at the CR and at AKL which was amazing.
I've heard CR CL is amazing as well! I'd love to do that one.

Love you pic of Jazz so cute.
Thank you :cat:

I've been reserving and canceling Citrico's and Narcoosee's dinners back and forth for a dinner before MVMCP. I think I'm going to stick with Narcoosee's, even though DH does not eat seafood, mostly because the lobster looks delicious and because I think we'd both love the cheesecake. But then I look at the Citrico's menu and I know DH would love the seasonal flatbreads and the Key Lime pie. Now I've just talked myself into switching yet again...
Just so you know, I don't eat any seafood either (hence leaving the shrimp lol). The previous 2 times I've eaten at Narcoossee's I've gotten the filet which is amazing, so if you stick with that I'm sure DH will enjoy whatever he has! And you definitely can't go wrong with the cheesecake :cloud9: On the other hand we've had the seasonal flatbread at Citricos twice and it's fabulous so......like I said above to @chunkymonkey, it's tough choosing between those 2 but either way you'll walk away full and happy!
Oh, and Citricos key lime pie is heavenly, too.................

It is so foreign to me to see children eating food! Neither of mine are very good at it. Lol. Of course, the silver lining is they don't cost me an arm and a leg but I wish they would venture out with their choices somewhat!

Steve's cheesesteak looks very yummy and that chocolate shake! Yum! And like I mentioned in your TR, my mom would love the fried green tomato sandwich bc she is a huge fried green tomato fan. We have country cooking restaurants around here that serve fried green tomatoes and she always enjoys when we get to eat at one of those places.

See, midday breaks are good things! Pool time with bar drinks is a winner in my book! Hopefully we will get to check out Stormalong Bay in a few years!

I've probably posted it before but Narcoossee's is on my list for either an adults only trip or when the boys get older and can stay quiet...lol. The steak looks so good, but I'm afraid if I was there now, I'd go with your dish, hands down! Totally up my alley! And that Strawberry Shortcake...yum! I'm a huge fruit in dessert fan! Oh and thanks for the skirt/dress tip! Lol

CL looks good as does that view you got a photo of. I love those chocolate bars too! Can't wait to read more about CL and your meal at WCC.

It's Best If You Like Ketchup
After our first ever tour through a club level lounge we were ready for a real meal, our first one of the day. Luckily we only had to go down to the lobby, because we were eating at Whispering Canyon Cafe in the WL lobby! We'd eaten dinner here once before but it was back in.....2010? 2011? Therefore the boys didn't remember it at all. The lunch menu looked better to me than dinner and since I didn't want to check in late it worked perfect today.

I mentioned in my last post that the CL CM called down to tell them we'd be late due to the MB issue. Our reservation was for 12:30, we got there about 12:50 and were seated right away. First thing, drinks! Steve wanted a beer and went back and forth with our server for a bit because he wanted a dark beer and apparently they don't have any. Our server came back and suggested the Moosehead so Steve tried it. I ordered the Moonshine Lemonade with Watermelon:

IMG_6596.JPG

Looks like a Lifesaver in my drink lol but it's an ice cube. Steve liked his beer but my drink was WAY too sweet, and you all know I like sweet drinks. You can also get different flavors instead of watermelon like blueberry or strawberry. This was like a glass of sugar with some watermelon juice squeezed in. I told Steve I'd forge ahead and kept it for the time being.
Let me discuss our server for a minute. Any of you familiar with the antics at WCC know that your server's personality plays a big part in this, similar to 50's Prime Time. Our server, as described in my TR, was like a shy, whispering Barney Fife. I realize as I type that, that many of you may not know who Barney Fife is..... google him :surfweb: And then watch "The Apple Dumpling Gang" which is my favorite Disney movie from my childhood which stars Don Knots, who played Barney Fife.

Ricky ordered one of their bottomless milkshakes, chocolate:

IMG_6597.JPG

He didn't say if it was better than the one at the Plaza, but he loved this one enough to finish it. I can't remember what Chris got and for some reason I don't have a picture.
Next they brought bread to our table, which was cornbread:

IMG_6598.JPG

I love me some cornbread and this didn't disappoint! It also tastes just like the cornbread at the HDDR and Trail's End, both of which I love. I had two small pieces and seriously had to hold myself back from eating more, but in addition to my meal I had an app coming that I'd had my eye on:
Gold Rush Western Chips with Chili, Queso Dip and Fresh Salsa:

IMG_6599.JPG

Yup, nice and simple but sooo delicious! I love nachos and these were like pseudo-nachos. The salsa was ok but both the queso dip and chili were out of this world! And I'm not even a big chili fan. Chris and Steve helped with this but I did most of the damage, and when all was said and done the chili and queso were gone. The salsa and queso have a slight kick to them but nothing overpowering; the salsa had a bit more of a kick but that's not why it wasn't our favorite, it just wasn't anything special. The chips were chips but they were crispy!

While we were eating this and drinking the server at the table next to us was going crazy with her guests. Our guy was like . It was ok though, we weren't really there for the antics but it was fun watching everyone else enjoy them. Something else that happened while eating that delicious app was that I realized I could no longer stomach my drink. WAY too much sugar. Steve flagged down Mr. Fife and instead I got this:

IMG_6609.JPG

Which went down much smoother. Soon our food came- Ricky and Steve both got the All You Care to Eat Skillet: Slow-smoked Pork Ribs, Barbecued Pulled Pork, Roasted Glazed Chicken, and Western-style Sausage served with Mashed Yukon Potatoes, Corn on the Cob, an Cowboy-style Baked Beans

IMG_6606.JPG

Ricky loved the chicken; couldn't get enough and asked for seconds which he finished. He also enjoyed the ribs and mashed potatoes, really liked the pulled pork (this was his first time trying it) but wasn't a fan of the sausage, but he normally doesn't eat sausage anyway. He didn't try the beans because that's something else he doesn't eat but Steve said they were ok, definitely not the best part. Steve enjoyed all of it!

Chris ordered the St. Louis-style Pork Ribs: with Chipotle Barbecue Sauce, Slaw, and French Fries

IMG_6601.JPG

Loved the fries, loved the ribs, which are different than the ones in the skillet-he gave Steve one of his so Steve confirmed this. Chris is a huge BBQ sauce lover and he thought the sauce on these was the perfect combo of tangy and sweet with a kick.

I ordered the Applewood-smoked Turkey Sandwich: on Toasted Multigrain Bread with Arugula, Tomato, and Cranberry Mayonnaise with your choice of French Fries, Sweet Potato Fries, or Cucumber Salad

IMG_6600.JPG

First, I've had this cucumber salad other places on property and it's really good. Whatever the dress it with is kind of sweet but not too sweet. The sandwich itself was so fresh tasting, perfect on a hot muggy day. The cranberry mayo OMG, delicious! Sadly I could only eat half of this and some of the salad because I filled up too much on Western Chips :P

Chris did need ketchup for his fries and we couldn't WAIT to hear our server do what they do when you ask for ketchup! Well, this little man opened his mouth and let out the loudest yell I've ever heard in my life, it was hysterical! Everyone in the restaurant brought us every single bottle of ketchup from their tables, the boys thought it was great. Once we had it all I had to move it out of the way of everyone's food; another server saw me trying to make room, came over and told me I needed to make a castle out of it:

IMG_6605.JPG

Not as pretty as Cinderella's but a cute gesture nonetheless!

We all enjoyed our meals, more than I thought we would. We were too full for dessert, plus there were snacks upstairs, so we left to explore the resort and show the boys why we both love it so much!

CL at the WL looks so nice and a step above the YC CL. Thank you for sharing :)
The lounge is very nice and cozy; homey feeling. It as always pleasant going in there and all the CM's were great! I'd definitely do WL CL again although we'd also like to try another resort CL. I have more lounge pictures to come later!
I've heard good things about YC's lounge, are you there now or did you have to reschedule due to Irma?

It is so foreign to me to see children eating food!
 I do understand though, because Ricky was horribly picky when he was little. 1.5 chicken nuggets and a fry and he called it a meal until he was like, 6!

See, midday breaks are good things! Pool time with bar drinks is a winner in my book!
Most of the breaks we took were pretty enjoyable! I doubt we'll do it when it's just the two of us but we probably will when we go with the kids again, especially if it's in the summer.

Oh and thanks for the skirt/dress tip! Lol
Always looking out for my friends :thumbsup2

Can't wait to read more about CL and your meal at WCC.
I do have more on CL on other days! WCC is up :goodvibes

We rescheduled because of Irma, lost our YC CL but now have GF CL. It was the only room on the entire property in Sept with the military rate

Geez they must stock a lot of ketchup at that place! The food looked really good though! I love cucumber salad too!

I realize as I type that, that many of you may not know who Barney Fife is.....
:scared1: this better not be true. Andy Griffith is a STAPLE of AMERICANA! Plus you know I'm a little old lady and really love him (Andy that is) for Matlock...:lovestruc

I had an app coming that I'd had my eye on:
Gold Rush Western Chips with Chili, Queso Dip and Fresh Salsa:
I was going to say, this looks like the best parts of theme park nachos! I would totally get this and make it my meal. yum!

we weren't really there for the antics but it was fun watching everyone else enjoy them.
See, I think I would like that better. "Hi, I'm checking in for my reservation. Is Barney's section available?" :rotfl2:

First, I've had this cucumber salad other places on property and it's really good. Whatever the dress it with is kind of sweet but not too sweet. The sandwich itself was so fresh tasting, perfect on a hot muggy day. The cranberry mayo OMG, delicious! Sadly I could only eat half of this and some of the salad because I filled up too much on Western Chips :P
I was totally prepared to razz you for getting the healthiest option on the menu but then you reminded me of your nacho foray, so I will give you a pass. It does look refreshing! I think the St. Louis ribs look great too though!

So sorry your drink wasn't all you dreamt of. Wonder if they could do anything to make it less sweet. Ick!
