Hmmm that's a worry, I've just booked Le Cellier today for a birthday. Did you call Le Cellier directly to order the cake or was it the Boardwalk Bakery? I need to provide FFIL with a list of options so he can choose what to suprise FMIL with. I know he's keen on the Mickey head shaped cake.

i like your pics.
im taking my parents to wdw in september for there 40th anniversary, can i get the mickey and minnie figures on a custom cake at any restourant in the disney parks and resorts? :goodvibes

I hope someone can help me with this one....

Where should I order a cake from if I would like it delivered for our dinner at CG. It's DH's birthday dinner, and his favorite character is Donald.

Any suggestions? I would like something a bit different than the usual 6 inch mini cake...but not too expensive. Thanks!

I just got off the phone with GF Private Dining and was told they only customize 10" or larger. They will add a name to smaller cakes but the options are white cake with white frosting or chocolate cake with chocolate frosting.

What do you mean by 'customize'? The flavors or the top (name, picture, drawing etc..) or both?

Someone posted a few pages back that she was able to order an 8 inch cake on April 4th at the GF and here is her description:

vanilla cake white buttercream frosting and dark chocolate moose filling.$25 plus a white chocolate disk with Lightening McQueen and Mater for an extra $15

It might just be a matter of which CM answers the phone. :confused3

We are celebrating my son's birthday (which is on Halloween) at Chef Mickey's before heading over to MNSSHP. I want to order a cake for him, but I wanted some ideas what they can do. I saw the picture from CM earlier in the thread, but do they give you a variety of decorating options? Are they easy to deal with ( compared to GF)? I just don't want to sound like a complete klutz when I'm on the phone ordering this thing.:goodvibes

This is the SAME exact thing they told me when I called to order dh a special cake for our honeymoon. I was told this by more then one employee working there, but yet I have been told the exact same thing someone else was just able to do it. I don't know how the oterh person got to do it, but I was told strict and firmly that I COULD NOT customize the cake flavors on an 8 inch, and I even mentioned that I have heard of many people who were allowed to customize the flavors starting at the 8 inch, but again was firmly told no. I asked the employees if there was ANYWAY I can order a 8 inch (which was already bigger than only 2 people needed), or am I just stuck to chocolate/chocolate, or vanilla/vanilla, and surprisingly enough I was told in a just sarcastic, and kind of put off way in these exact words used by the baker yep that's pretty much it that he COULD NOT let me customize the 8 inch flavor, and only would allow it if I order the 10 inch. Also I was told by more than 1 person this includes the baker which they had me talk to and see is he has the time to do it, and exactly what he could do, and the price. I was given VERY little options on what he could do as if he did not want to put in much effort. basically wanted to just stick something he said he got from the east coast on there and it would be 25 dollars for each thing I had them do on it.. I was not offered anything like what I have seen on this thread, and not once did they mention they could do the edible Jack pic in edible frame. All in all I don't know what's going on over there, or why the need for people to act in such a unfriendly/unhelpfull manner there, but they sure did, and I ended up not ordering a cake cause I was just not talked to in a manner in which I feel a customer should be helped. I ha no problem paying what they asked, but they werent willing to put any effort into it, and I explained it was special. Sorry, but I just did not need a 10 inch cake which feeds starting at 16 people when it was just the 2 of us, I just thought it would be way to much cake just to get it customized, and over 100 dollars for it, so a lot on both parts wasted. I know this has gotten long, but all in all I am just not pleased with the experience, and it has left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth with them. I am not saying I wont give them another try at a later date, but as of now they have shown 0 lack of customer service that I expected. Also even when they messed up my dh surprise of the mini wedding cake, they were actually saying to us that they could send it to our resort for 75 dollars!!!!! When it was a mistake on their part they did not have the cake done. Sorry GF, but please get some nicer CM that would be of more service to the guests/customer.

Here's a picture of the gift basket we got for dd15 at our WCC dinner. I arranged this through fairy_tale_ bride here on the dis (Lindsey). She now works for disney in the dream/floral dept. helping people arrange great, fun surprises like this one for birthdays, engagements, anniversaries, etc. It was GREAT working with her on this! We customized this basket with dd15's favorite things.

The basket includes the coolest :cool1: POTC bank that says "Dead Men Tell No Tales" when you put money in it. It also included 2 POTC beach towels (Lindsey threw an extra 1 in for free :) so dd11 could have one too!). It also had a small stuffed Eeyore, a signed card from Mickey & Minnie and of course the balloons, including a really awesome POTC one, which unfortunately you can't see in the picture. It was all put together in a really cool POTC treasure chest.

I'll post more about our surprises from this fun dinner shortly.

Wow, that is so cool!!!!!! I would love to do something like that for DD's birthday.

Here's a picture of the cake that we'll hopefully have for DD's 16th bday party. We're doing a Beach Party themed Private Dinner at the GF SummerHouse and Small Beach.

I say hopefully because this is a picture that the GF sent me to give me an idea of what they could do.

I told them I wanted it EXACTLY like the picture!! I just fell in love!
Our cake will have only two layers though. Other than that it should look the same.

There are only going to me 14 of us, and while we'll still have some wasted cake (maybe;) ) the 3 layers would have served about 75 people!
I don't even I could eat that much cake!:lmao:

Wow! That is a stunning cake! I'm sure your DD will absolutely love it, I know I would! :goodvibes

I am going to be in disney in august and I was wondering does anyone think if I order a cake at Cindys Castle if it will melt on my way back to AKL. I was just thinking it will be really hot in august.

Thank You
Sarah

I am now sure that the problems some of you have had with the Grand Floridian depend entirely on who you get to talk to.

When I first called, I was told only "Linda" handles specialty cakes, and was forwarded to her voicemail. The girl that answered the phone did not want to be any help at all.

After waiting almost three days for Linda to return my call, I called 407-824-2474 and spoke to a very cheerful girl who said she wasn't familiar enough with the specialty cakes to help me but she'd let me talk to someone who was.

Consuelo came to the phone and was so wonderful! She took plenty of time with me, answered all my questions and ordered me exactly what I wanted.

We're getting a 6" chocolate cake/chocolate filling/white buttercream frosting with the castle topper delivered to our room for our anniversary.

I was really disappointed that the first girl and Linda didn't want to help me. My favorite thing about Disney is the customer service and how fun the CMs most always are to deal with.

Consuelo restored my faith in them, though, and I can't wait to see the cake tomorrow!

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this great thread. Happy celebrations to you all!

Consuelo is wonderful. She is the one who has helped me with my custom cakes I've ordered. I've ordered 3. I've had no problems at all either getting an 8 inch or 6 inch. So just ask for her specifically when you call.

Blessings,
Winnie

If the Linda you attempted to work with is the same one I'm working with, I think she stays pretty swamped. She works in private dining. I've worked with her to arrange a private dinner for DH & me as a surprise for our anniversary this fall. She's been wonderful so far. I didn't have any response from my initial email, but once I called & spoke with her, she's been prompt to respond to my emails. Maybe they think the serious ones will be persistent? :rolleyes1 Anyway, in one of my emails, I sent a picture of a cake I'd seen on this thread. It's small, 6" maybe, with golden Mickey head stamps and a white chocolate Mickey & Minnie topper. She got a quote on that for me from the pastry chef. It's going to be $55, and I had the choice of chocolate or vanilla cake; chocolate mousse, white chocolate mousse, raspberry mousse, or fresh fruit & custard filling; and silver or gold Mickey heads & accents. I gave some requests, but also said that I'm open to anything creative the chef wants to do. I think some of the most amazing cakes I've seen here were when there was room left for creativity! I'm hoping for some magic myself!

Good luck to everyone trying to order special cakes for your special occassions!!:wizard:

Bamagirl,
You are so right. Whenever I have ordered my custom cakes, I always gave them an idea of what I wanted then left the creativity up to them. It has always been so wonderful!!

The cake you are referring to is the one that is covered in "fondant". I myself do not care for it. I think it has a wierd aftertaste. Although some like it. Personal preference. I got a similar cake, 6 inch, only I ordered mine with white cake filled with white chocolate mousse and fresh raspberries in between the layers. Then I had it frosted with buttercreme icing that melted in your mouth. It had beautiful gum paste roses, and the white choclate bride & groom, Mickey and Minnie. Oh I did have them do the icing in an off-white to blend in with the white chocolate M&M topper. It was dusted with gold as well. It was I believe at $55 or there abouts.

Good luck and I hope it turns out beautiful as well as tasty for you!

Blessings,
Winnie

Our daughter wants to eat the night of her birthday at planet hollywood. Can we do a cake there or should we just celebrate it a day early at Tony's.

Seeing this thread a few months ago gave me a wonderful idea for how to share with my parents that they would be grandparents in 7 months! I made reservations with Flying Fish Cafe and asked to be connected with the dept that would take orders for a special occasion cake (I'm not recalling what dept that would be right now, I made this call 3 months ago and pg brain is a very real thing  ) Because it was just 4 of us at dinner, I did the 6" cake with "Congratulations Grandma & Grandpa!"

We got to dinner on 2/9/07 and since the cake was a surprise I wasn't going to bring it up with the waiter. After appetizers had been ordered I checked at the front desk to make sure the cake was associated with our table and ready to be brought out after dinner. I got "um, I don't see any special orders associated with this reservation" "uh....what? Okay, can I tell you exactly what it said so you can find it in back?" (read: here's what it's going to say, you have the amount of time of appetizers and dinner to defrost and decorate this cake...I'll eat slowly)

It must've worked just fine because after dinner our waiter came back to the table and said "So, I see we have a celebration this evening!" My mom said "um, we do?" he said "well we have a cake in back for you" I piped in "Well, I just went ahead and ordered dessert for us. Just a cake to celebrate being back here together again" They totally bought it...

Here's the next sequence:

Dad: ::audible gasp::
Mom: What?! REALLY??? ::crying::
Waiter: ::excitedly:: ooooh!!! oh! Oh my! Oh how wonderful!

Tables around us: oohing, ahhing, a few claps and tears
Waiter: I'd like to get you a round of champagne, please, on the house.
Me: Um, how about 3 champagnes and a ginger ale?
Waiter: right.

It was wonderful!! :cloud9:

Awww, great story Dharmster! What a great idea for breaking the happy news, too. That's a memory for life.

Wow, that looks amazing! What girl (or human) wouldn't love to get that cake. :cloud9: It is absolutely stunning!

I make cakes a a hobby and I'm going to have to attempt to copy(in my own, feeble, way) that design. Love it! Please post a picture of your actual cake when you get back-Thanks!
