Hi Bee at least I wasn't the only one on the naughty list, actually come to think of it I'm on S'Late's naughty list too, but I'm such a good girl!
 
Ok, I dont feel like I have done this..

But, you al know what a funk I have been in. Well, I just decided to weigh... I havent weighed for a long time. Too depressed.

Well, remember all those moons ago when I was dieting with all of you.. and was in a relationship.. then my world went flying out the door and I have had ups an downs...

Well.. I weighed approx 315 then.........Just weighed and .........




and............






and.....


I weigh 305.. checked twice.... 305! (small wooo hooty for me)



Down 10 lbs... I do not know when.. I do not know how..

-10lbs!!!!

dene love your recap of the excapades at the Y. When I was a Y counselor we didnt have a hunky trainer dude. All I got was preschool fruitloop breath in morning swimming lessons and the director was arrested for being a pedophile:eek: I like your Y much better;)

dismom I agree you are making smart choices with your daughter. Let me put my 2 cents in here. A while back I told you about my friends daughter who was always overweight as a young child. She had terrible but typical kid food diet habits. The kids made fun of her alot especially when she got to middle school. Well, her mom quit allowing her to have junk- it was still in the house- it was just not for her. This only led to years of sneaking and bingeing and more weight gain. They tried alot of weight loss programs some were designed for kids and some for adults- without much success. What made the turn around for them was a new doctor told Melissa that it was ok to have a cookie or some chips just not the whole bag. From there she learned moderation- isnt that what we are trying to do ourselves? Not denial but moderation. She used to live on Mt. Dew- and now only drinks water. But most importantly she became active. She got involved with the high school band and the dance line. They practice everyday. Last time I told you about Melissa she had lost 70 pounds. Well, she has now lost 90:banana: She is as beautiful on the outside as she has always been on the inside.

So my point: dont be too restrictive. She is just a kid. Offer healthy choices, limit junk but dont deny and most importantly kids need to go outside and play- something that has become lost in this day and time.


I tried the calorie counting yesterday. Did pretty good. I am suprised that I get about 1600 calories. No wonder when I was limiting to 1200 I was STARVING! As I lose some, maybe I can go lower but not right now. And I'm sure 1600 is less than I was eating. Tried the Hoodia. Pretty good. I had a lovely day doing laundry and watching Little House on the Prairie so for exercise: on the commercial breaks I did the speed sprint on the gazelle and then 10 situps.

Dene - you can write a book - I'm laughing out loud, I'm engaged, and want to be with the Peeps as you tell us the story in real life... as in

Maybe Dene' will finally find the happiness she desires and the person she used to be so many years (and pounds) ago...

It's the start of a very busy week for me. I work with college students and this is their last week of school here before finals. We have lots of events, planning, layout/design of docs, care packages to be assembled and mailed, etc. etc. Not too much DISing from work this week, I'm afraid!
I know! But your right....there are worse things to miss so don't feel bad. All adults need some "adult time" once in a while and this vacation has been planned for a long time. Enjoy it! :hug:

Jen....Good job on the calorie counting!!! I always tried to do without the extra calories when I exercised. There's no harm in eating them if you're starving (and some days you will be) but if you don't really want them, then take a pass and watch the weight fall off faster.

Amy....I became concerned about my DD around that age. You are doing the right thing to get the junk food out of the house and get her moving. I quit buying chips, snack crackers, and cookies all together. Pretzels, granola bars, and cereal only. I try to keep fruit she likes in the house and yogurt. She now does dance team at school and I try to limit TV and puter. She has "grown into" her pudge and is now taller than me. In 3 or 4 years your DD will grown into it too. Hang in there! :hug:

Learning to live with food, not without food.

The hardest part about our sensible approach to weight loss is convincing people that it works. When we tell people that we've lost three hundred pounds eating fabulous food, they simply can't believe it. For most of us, trying to lose weight has always been associated with feeling deeply deprived while eating horrid food. But we'd "been there, done that" with the deprivation and horrid food. A lifetime of "yo-yo" dieting is how we got to be so fat!

Most of us with weight problems no longer have any idea what it takes to support a healthy weight. We're always either dieting or planning to diet. And when we're planning to diet, we're EATING! How do you lose weight and keep it off? You have to stop dieting, stop planning to diet, and start learning to eat correctly. How do you begin?

Choose a reasonable goal weight. Calculate your daily caloric intake using the following formula:
Female: Goal weight in pounds X 12 calories/pound = Daily caloric intake
Male: Goal weight in pounds X 14 calories/pound = Daily caloric intake.

Start eating a well-balanced diet that contains this number of calories.

After a few days, take a good, hard look at how you're doing. If you're not happy with the amount of food that maintains your goal weight, you have two choices: you can either start exercising or you can decide to weigh more. If you lose weight by eating less food than you're willing to subsist on forever, you're wasting your time. As soon you start eating more calories, you'll start gaining weight.

If you lose weight by "practicing" to maintain the weight you wish to achieve, you'll know how to sustain it when you get there. And we're living proof that it's possible.

Dene~ Good to hear you've been coming out of your shell! I think that we become so self conscious about being overweight and feeling that everyone is looking at or watching us that we wish we were invisible. It's good that you've foud some great and supporting people IRL that are helping you alog your transformation. Woo Hooty on 5 lbs!!

Ok, time for me; I hate my work envirionment and I am looking into changing jobs or careers. I have a lot of pharmacy knowledge so that's what I'm thinking aobut doing. I have to go to school to get certified and the next classes aren't for a few more mos but I have to apply in the next 2 weeks. I might not be around much depending on what I have to do to get it done. Please wish me luck, this is really scary for me.

Gotta go to a job that I'm rapidly beginning to hate.........:sad1:
