Thanks MsStinkerBelle....I take your advice as solid! You are all over this thread. (it's good :goodvibes ) Thanks for mentioning too that your DD has PDD and some sensory issues. My DS 8 has ADHD, sensory issues, and Aspergers. Choosing the Poly for this trip, was heavily influenced by his needs and traveling with a toddler. My youngest DD will be 18 mo at time of travel.

You're very welcome! I'm always happy to share my experience travelling with a child on the 'spectrum' with others. The Poly is virtually our island of sanity when the overstimulation gets to be too much. I think your DS will love the Poly. All sorts of things going on at the resort for kids.

As far as the pool, we're thinking of going to the pool on Fri (our 2nd day) late afternoon, on Sun in the evening like the dinner hour..., again on Mon in the morning to early afternoon, Tue is our rest day, so many times and then whenever it fits in! How's that sound? Also can you use those little floaty boats for a baby/toddler?

Those times should be fine. :thumbsup2 And I think you can use those little floaties for a toddler in the pool with no issues. I saw other parents doing the same thing.

Thanks for mentioning the arcade stuff. My DS really wants to go there, it's on the top of his list!

You're more than welcome. The arcade there is really nice! Plus it isn't as noisy as the one in the CR which is probably why my DD likes it. :thumbsup2

My DD gets a hair wrap at Poly every trip. We do it in the first day since it's right by the pool. It costs $2 per inch of hair plus the beads for the bottom. They have lots of choices of beads or charms. It usually costs us $30 + tip for my DD's mid back length hair. If you get the wrap placed behind the ear it will be a few inches less and seems to last longer too. DD's lasted 10 weeks when she had the one behind the ear. This year she got the hair wrap on the side near the crown of her head and it lasted 6 weeks. We had the same hair wrap girl both times and she does a great job!

Wow!!! That lasted a long time. How do you go about washing it? My daugher washes her hair every night. Does the hair start to stick up out of it? My daughter has fine hair and a braid at the beauty shop barely makes it through the day before it starts falling out and sticking up everywhere.

This last hairwrap didn't last as long because the hair started sticking out of it. That's why I think the wrap behind the ear is better. It stays in longer. We took it when it started to look bad. DD's braids don't last long either but she does have thick hair. You just wash the hair like you regulary do, I would not scrub the hairwrap but a little soap doesn't hurt it.

OHHHHH I love hearing all the talk about the POLY!!! It's now almost been a year since I've been there!! Time to plan again!! It really is such an AWESOME resort!!!

I just had to share my excitement, we just booked 7 nights GV at Poly for next january! let the countdown BEGIN! :cool1: I am so excited to be back on the monorail. oh how i missed it when we stayed at AKL in december!

We also just booked a trip in May. It will be our first time staying at the Poly - and reading all the info is getting me so excited - but dispelling any concerns I had about spending extra to stay at the Poly (we have been staying at POFQ our last few trips).

Does anyone know what happened to Tikiman's website? We have been trying to figure out which longhouse to request - and his website seemed to have a lot of information.

Sometimes towards the end of the month the site goes down due to bandwith issues. Not sure if that's what's happened ... I'm getting a message about high traffic making the site unavailable right now.

Anyway, it's still there for sure -- I'm on his email list and just got an update a few days ago. So hang in there -- I'm sure it'll be back! :)

Ditto! I'm also on his mailing list and got the same update. His site is really popular so its hit its bandwidth allowance for the month.

My daughter is on the autism spectrum as well and based on our research and we have visited the Poly many times as a day guest we feel it is the perfect match for her. We have requested a room near the GCH since my DH has a bad knee and we often have to push DD in a stroller. We are all very excited about our trip!

We plan to have DD sleep in the daybed but will a bedrail fit it? She has to sleep with her back against something and will fall in the floor without a rail.

Perhaps we can help, I have frequented tikiman's site many times and I have a lot of his pro and cons in documents on my home computer and mapped out in Google Earth.

What's your requirements and wishes and some of us can provide some thoughts on which building may be best? Then you can compare those to his website when it's back up.

I've been trying to access the much talked about tikiman website to help do some research on the polynesian resort. Is it no longer active? Did it move and if so, where did it move to? Does anyone know... :confused3

I read so many helpful things on this thread about it that I was really looked forward to perusing it.

Please advise if you know anything...

Thanks!

That would be great if you could give me some advice. I got so excited when I found his site and then kaput - couldnt get back there. Let's see - its going to be me, DH and DD6 and DD4. We don't really have any requirements so to say - we booked a gardenview room. We are going to be there for 6 days and visiting all of the parks. The girls do love to swim - so we will be at the Volcano pool daily. So I guess I was a little stuck trying to decide which longhouse - close to the pool, close to monorail or close to the TTC? At first I thought close to the TTC - so we could hop on the monorail to MK or Epcot or grab a bus to MGM/AK. However I know we will be swimming every afternoon so I thought maybe something closer to the pool. Our whole reason we decided on the Poly this time is because we thought it would be more convienent/quicker getting to and from the parks since DD still naps in the afternoons. Any thoughts would be great - as you can tell I am very confused and started to ramble.:)

The larger threads were taken down this morning (hopefully temporarily) to see if they were causing the problems with the server...

The 2 PC Repo cruise threads alone were 47,000 posts and 84,000 posts each... (I should know... I'm one of the contributors to the 47,000 posts...)

It is nice getting to and from MK and Epcot. It is a big factor as to why we are going back this August.

We stayed in a Garden View last August. We requested Samoa Volcano Pool view on 1st or 3rd floor. (no balcony on 2nd) We got Samoa 1607, here's the view:

Samoa is close to the pool, the GCH, Captain Cooks and the monorail stop. It's not far from the buses. The walk to the TTC is not really that bad.

When and to whom do you make room requests? We'd like to, ideally, be on the first floor as we'll have a stroller(s), and my grampa has had surgery on both knees. It's not a must, but I'd also really like to stay in Samoa because my dad's side of the family lives in actual American Samoa. Haha!!

When you make your reservation tell the CM taking the reservation. If you have already made the reservation call back and have them add it to your reservation. The Resort looks at these and tries to fulfill when they can. If first floor is important be more general, request ????? View First Floor.

If Samoa, request "First floor Samoa." Samoa does have views of both Volcano Pool and the Quiet Pool.

Good Luck.

Hi,

We have booked our very 1st trip to WDW for April and will be staying at Poly. :yay: We have three kiddos who will be 5, 6 & 7 when we go. I think our reservation was for a garden view room (they said that was all they had available). Do you have any suggestions on which long house (is that what it is called?) we should request? I would prefer one of the rooms that has been redone and not the rooms without the balconies.

We chose the Poly because we needed 5 of us in one room and wanted to be on the Monorail. (And because it just looks so pretty!)

Thanks for your help! :)

All the rooms are done. I'd just request a room with a balcony, rather than a particular longhouse.
