Thanks, Jodie! He is supposed to be released today. If not, then tomorrow. This was what my mom found out yest. My mom will probably give me a call later today if he is released.

Wendy, where you asking about Easter baskets? I always put in a DVD of a requested movie or show... or (heaven help me) a new CD of music for the car.

Maybe a gift certificate? Like for movie tickets or movie rentals? :confused3

hi guys!

the pengiuns r on NBC as i speak, looking rather lame:rolleyes1

where's/when's the race todaypopcorn::

barb is so smrt on tanning:worship:

thoughts from the palest chick (who tends to turn into a giant freckle:scared: ; so tan i must to even out or look spotted). how fair am I, even the dermatoligist said to get a base in a bed as opposed to outside rays. I've done my time in the ER for bad burns.

*buy a month pkg at the cheapest place u can, doesn't matter if the beds are great or not...go in for 5 min the 1st day & increase a min or 2 each day...by the end of 2 weeks u should have a base

*i tend to not follow my own advice (lol) and usually wind up with 1 burn a year...nothing works better than Pepcid AC to "take the red out" overnight:thumbsup2

*be careful as to meds u r on, they're not kidding when they say certain ones will fry you even with a base bed (antibiotics especially)

*if you're blonde or color ur hair in general, cover it with a towel to avoid it fading

*ps clean the bed before u get in it. While i know barb's employer is on the up & up the stories i've heard from girl DS was dating who worked in a salon would creep u out. They've had to call the cops for weirdos before:eek:

barb - i'm evidently sensitive to many of the products, was told to avoid the tingles & cooling ones by dermatoligist. I tried one with the bronzer last trip south...pic in TR; think i got a rather strange color.

rose - glad to hear they're springing ur dad!

i'm at the point where easter baskets are waning, did pic up the cutest ones @ target (shrek head lol)...usually buy DVDs, clothes & money...we always have candy in the house so it's no big deal for them.

jodie - assume u don't use SW for air (either that or i missed the release date); isn't it nice to get that settled. i'm starting to think there's something wrong with me...always looking to run off for a quick weekend. DHs hoping to transfer into a dept wherein they only work three - 12 hour days (then most of them add on another day OT)...just think of the travel opportunites:idea: ha

RATS will hit the field @ 3 pm today:cheer2:

ps DS WON the competition, head to the district one on Saturday (no prizes yet, just braggin rights with his peeps) here's the link

Rose,
Great news about your dad! I know you'll be there to help him and your mom out when he gets home. They are lucky to have you!

:thumbsup2 Great to hear Dad's getting out of the hospital Rose.

I have no Idea what to get the kiddies for Easter Baskets . DD15,DD12 and DS 6 are getting harder and harder to buy for these days . :confused3

See everyone later .

Woot! Congrats to your DS, Janet on winning the comp! Wishing him the best in districts.

SW doesn't fly out of EWR. At least I don't think so. We're Jet Blue freaks. Even to the point of where they are more expensive, Mike insists upon flying them over any other airline.

AWESOME! My DS14 would love to do that! He's a big gamer on the XBox 360, but there aren't too many tournaments around here. Who knows, maybe my boys have played your son before if he's on XBox Live. I see that was a WII tournament though. My boys are saving their money to buy a Wii.

Mac - look 3 posts above yours in the thread! I was already over there! :rotfl:

Oh, wait, I almost forgot to give you guys my "good" news. I was selected for jury duty! Joy!

Do you think it's unreasonable to ask for the time off and not have to make it up? I don't expect to be paid, but I just can't make up any more hours. Is this unreasonable? I'm assuming there's some law that they have to give you time off for jury duty? You all know how reasonable and understanding my boss is! Hence the reason for my concern!

I am going to call my doctor first thing on Monday and see if he'll write me a note. I know I won't get excused, but really, I doubt that there's any way I could follow the entire trial with my hearing. I did write that on the pre-questionnaire. Basically that I'd probably need a written transcript in order to hear everything that was said. Hoping if nothing else that this will discourage them from putting me on an actual jury. Guess we'll see how it plays out! Sigh!

marcie, i was posting blindly since i was a dozen pages behind doing the ketchup thing.
i did see your post after mine went up.
glad you saw the thread. i read yours after i had already posted here.

your company must give you the time off but they don't have to pay you.

companies should have the mind that they want employees that do their civil duty to the state/ county.

i think the pay for jury duty in illinois is $25 a day. with mr mac, when he served, he took the $25 check gave it to his ceo at work and then was given his days pay in return. his company encourages employees to serve when summoned.

you can not be terminated from your job if you are on jury duty.
they have to give you the time off,
they don't have to pay you though

i know in our county you can be excused from jury duty if you have no one to tend to your children during that time period.
that should work for you in your situation.

Not yet cause not a big baseball fan but I will take the reds cause and it tells my age that I use to love watching them when Johnny bench played catcher for them :lmao: :lmao:

Chrissy is doing better from her viral thing. My stomach doesn't hurt anymore either. Yeah!

Next weekend is going to be nuts!
Next Saturday, Matthew has his Pinewood Derby District racing for Cub Scouts. Next Sunday is the Blue and Gold Banquet for Cub Scouts. He is crossing over to Boy Scouts! Time just goes so fast! DH and I are on the Banquet committee as well as some other parents. We are in charge of
decorations.
Can't believe Easter is 2 weeks away too!! Too quickly coming!!:scared:

I hope our weather here in Chicago warms up soon. I'm really getting sick of the cold and snow :scared: Please, 60 or 70 degree weather! :worship:

Hope everyone has a good day!

YOU look young MAC!

:thumbsup2 Great to hear Dad's getting out of the hospital Rose.

I have no Idea what to get the kiddies for Easter Baskets . DD15,DD12 and DS 6 are getting harder and harder to buy for these days . :confused3

See everyone later .

every year i have given the boys an Easter basket.
even when they were in college they were sent one.

in fact, i have used the original baskets since they were babies.
they love that.

this is the first year i won't be home with them for Easter.
i just don't know how to swing it and make baskets up in advance and then hide them.....
i leave on the 18th.
i'm afraid the cats would find the baskets and destroy them, or eat the chocolate and die.

but then, if i hide the baskets, they would never be found. my sons don't snoop.

i always put kid toys and gc in the baskets with 2 of their favorite candies.
also pick up the latest pez of the season for them.

on the other hand, traditions are meant to be broken. change is good.

i never go away during that time of the year but it was the only dates i could this time. i had to work around my brother's schedule.
the brother that i like not the one in the states.

can i kill a thread or what..........

too bad my talents like that are wasted when i am at the UO parks....

i had your backs today, went to church.
you are covered for the week.

it is snowing again.
the time has changed and spring is not around the corner......

oh, janet asked about the bd cake. it was home made carrot cake.
yum.......
bd's for cake: 2/26, 3/7, 3/15, 6/29, 7/19 for the boys.
more cake coming up soon....woo hoo

did you know that this is the first time in 175 years we will have Easter this early in the year?

and it will be another 175 years before that happens again.

good to know.
won't plan the next out of town trip over Easter at that time again.
