SoHappy-Yea for the boy post! You should be proud of them. Cute, cute! I especially get all warm & fuzzy over little brother photos, since I too have two little boys!!:goodvibes Just came from my little one's Kindergarten grad party also. How do they grow sooo fast? Sniffff!

Jhammy-your crown applique is perfect!! Would never consider you a novice, it looks great!! Love the tab shorts with the light blue Disney World top! Congrats on the DLR hotel!! We're going in Dec., but staying at a Good Neighbor Hotel for the 1st time. We love the DLR Hotel!!

 Anyone who appliques with Meltler thread, need a little help here.
I'm working on finishing up my Cinderella/I Love Lucy apron. The Metler thread is being a little more than un-cooperative:headache: !! I don't know if it's the skinny long shape of the thread cone or what. It jumps around on the machine's spool & is hard to load bobbin thread from. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any advice.:)

Which type of Mettler thread? They have several!

In general, a thread net probably would help keep the thread on the spool. You should use matching regular sewing thread in the bobbin. And you may need to use a specialty needle--possibly embroidery or metal (for metallic thread).

Good Morning Everyone! Tried to catch up reading this morning...been busy with the husband being off work and all...not really...just went to Charlotte yesterday to exchange a necklace he gave me then got caught in a traffic jam on the interstate! Blew an entire day sitting in the car.

So...panic has set in....4 weeks 2 days....actually just four weeks because I must pack and take my FIL to the nursing home...oh no...that makes me really lose another day to get all of the paperwork done:headache: :headache: ! DH says he "might" take an extra day off to help me move HIS Dad! If he doesn't ...picture it...me, three kids (ready to go to WDW) a TV, oxygen machine, oxygen bottles, luggage, a walker, and lord only knows what else he wants to bring...and he says he "might" take the day off! :headache:

Done with my rant now!;)

Oh...the panic...must sew...I only have how many more pairs of shorts? :scared1: EEEEERRRR...

I did however get excited that I found out in my box of stuff for my 1950's Singer that there is a ruffler!!! Now, I have to figure out how to use it! Doesn't seem too hard...

Anyway...beautiful outfits...love all the crowns with the pettis...really wish my DD would wear one...darn it she is growing up too fast...said that before haven't I?

:cool1: about the ruffler! I have my mother's 1946 Singer machine (in cabinet) with the accessories. It has a ruffler, too. Haven't tried it yet--I'm not a ruffles gal! But I'm going to try to turn Abi into one! *LOL*

How silly am I? I got the sewing machine last night and looked over the booklet. Now I am scared to take the thing out of the box and set it up! My mom is gone for the weekend so I said I would try my hand at setting it up and start in on the criss cross dress from YCMT. Now if only I can get my nerve up to do it!

Procrastination time is over! Haul out your scraps, set up that wonderful new machine and start practicing!

You can do it! :thumbsup2

STEPH what pattern did you use for the bell bottom pants you made megan that DH thinks are silly? And I have to buy one more pattern- the dainty designs newsboy/cloche hat...I've been looking for a reason to buy it and I think this will just be the most adorable 4th outfit...though maybe pants are not such a good idea in FL in July...hmmm...

OOH, I can't wait to start!
...t.

You don't need a pattern. I just cut off the pants and measured the width of the leg where I cut. Then divided by six because I had three fabrics (repeating once) and cut a-shapes with the measurement on the top (plus seam allowance) and added two inches on to the bottom. Somehow I was a little off and had more ruffle than pant but just eased it on when sewing. If you need pictures, I can take them to show you what I did but you definitely don't need a pattern!

Too much Lily? Never! That is much cuter than mine. :sad2: I love her little bows, she looks just like a princess.

I think Taja is exactly right, my pinks don't match in tone. I was so excited to find fabric with little crowns on it I didn't even think it might not match. When I go back to JoAnn's I'll just have to drag the pettiskirt with me: I'm sure they all think I am nuts there anyway!

ETA: Lily is sitting in my lap, when she saw this post she giggled and said "that's too much Lilys!"

AWE!!! You know in my house DH would not have allowed me to fix Little's ponytails if they are crooked- he can't stand to hear her fuss so I only get one shot- I gotta make it count:rotfl:

LOVE this petty guys!!! However- I can't even think about that right now cause it would just add another outfit to the list of outfits that outnumber our days at WDW!!!

STOP posting cute stuff that makes me want it!!

I feel like a little kids right now!!!! The travel vouchers came today!!!!!:woohoo: :woohoo: I am so excited!!!!! Can't wait until the two oldest get home to show them!!!:dance3:

Just had to share...DS4 is too busy pouting to get him excited right now!:headache:

Here is sTinkerbell modeling her crown tank top. She always wants to tilt her head, squint, and hold her hands in front of her so I can't see her outfit. :headache: and yes, her bows and/or pigtails are lopsided, didn't notice 'till I looked at the photos :sad2:

IMG_0248-1.jpg

and here I let her choose the location and props so she's happy:

oh I loke it all. is that the disney store skirt. super cute!

Ok, so where exactly are you all getting this petti @???

Another drama to add;

My son's elementary school is very small (less than 200 kids) so is very family oriented, I belong to the PTA (low in funds) and I was asked to sew some dresses (5 ) for 1 prek, 3 kinderg, 1 fifth grader ;these kid' s parents are not able to dress them for the promotional ceremonies in June (parents already asked for the help) I was given 30.00 for supplies. The good news is that I approached the owner at the fabric store that I always go to and he will be donating most of the fabric, (cotton) nothing fancy but free. He will give me pink or white solid and the thread....

Now I need help deciding what styles. I am thinking not a lot of ruffles (to make it easier and faster for me) but...WHAT STYLES WILL LOOK BETTER? (I would like to keep it simple) I was thinking for the prek to make the halter dress that I made with lace and tulle to make it fancier, the others I have no Idea specially the fifth grader.

Ideas PLEASE!!!!!!!!
What a nice thing for you to do.
Just wanted everyone to see the Alice I just finished. I am super proud of it. And we are HUGE Fans of alice in this house!!

This is beautiful!

Hi..I know I showed you all the Stepsister appliques that I did last week, but I made a skirt yesterday to go with it. It's meant for Ireland or larger..it's a size 8. So it's really big on poor Lexie, but she's the only model available. :rotfl:
I love how Lucifer and Lady Tremaine came out..I only wish I had done a few more appliques but couldn't think of anything else that went with them. I was thinking maybe Bruno? Oh well..

AMAZING!
I just wanted to share this...yesterday we dd's end of year school program (next Thursday will be her last day of pre-k). After the program, all the parents were asked to go back to their classroom because the kids have things to share with us. Their teacher had made each one of them a memory book. She asked the kids question individually and then wrote down their answers, and she included pictures throughout the year. Anyway, this is one of the pages from my dd's book....

I love my little girl!!!! I love that she's happy when I sew her clothes...I hope that last a long, long time!!!!!

So Sweet!
Ok, so where exactly are you all getting this petti @???

The petti came from the Disney Store.

She is just TOOOOO CUUUUTE!

Leighanna will NOT wear anything tucked in, so I would have to do a halter version of that.

Any good codes on Disney shopping going around?:rolleyes1

Oh... and where did you find that crown clip art? Or is it a digitized embroidery design?

Thanks! But yours is actually much cuter, mine is very simple, it just matches the petti. Yours is so cute. I still have not made a halter top for Lily other than one simply sweet one.

Ok, so where exactly are you all getting this petti @???

oh I loke it all. is that the disney store skirt. super cute!

Yep, Disney store. I only paid $18.?? for it    when one of you enablers posted about a 40% off sale.

Thanks! The tank top is not bad untucked, it has a scallopy edge to it. I'm sure you could make something much cuter! The crown is a shape I cut from my Disney princess cartridge on my cricut, then I traced the shape I cut out onto my heat 'n' bond. It is supposed to be Aurora's crown. Let me know, if you want I will scan it and post it or email it or something.

That's just adorable! And her comment is even cuter (and totally not true).

Ugh! I get my new sewing machine out of the box and read over the manual. I am trying to set the darn thing up and realize I am missing the zig-zag presser foot. :headache: Can I pick one of those up at Jo-Anns (it is a Brother) or am I going to have to order it. This was the last machine like this that Wal-Mart had.

these shorts didn't fit DS anymore so I added a ruffle, then I found this white tank at a yard sale for $0.50 and added the ruby slipper (don't know what she's doing with her face)

I think I might make a belt out of the gingham and tuck the shirt in - it doesn't look "complete" to me - - anyone have any ideas?

here are the photos of Lily's pettiskirt top. It is just a tank top from Old Navy with a crown applique. I used my Aurora crown from my cricut and just traced it onto my heat 'n' bond. It was a little tricky to applique for a novice like me :confused3 Then I glued some bling on with E6000--my first ever experience with E6000--I loved it! I just hope the washing machine does too! :lmao: Some day I'll have a photo with a model. I used the sparkly pink fabric from Joanns for the crown and it matched really well (especially after all that ironing with the heat 'n' bond).

oohhh I would love it if you could post your crown - I've been looking online and can't find one I like as much as this!!! Next step was to go and look at colouring books.

I think some gingham trim to the top as well.....or some sparkles to the shoe?

My hubby saw it and actually wanted me not to give it to her but to take pictures and sell it online. :rotfl: It made me feel so good. Normally when I make something am I am proud of it he kinda just looks and me and say another dress. But this time he raved about it.:dance3: So now I will share with you and see what you all think it's the first time I feel dis worthy. (even though it's not Disney:sad2: I hope to be as great as all of you someday. I just love all the creative outfits here too many to mention. Thanks for sharing.

VERY good applique!!! I love the Dorothy theme!!!:thumbsup2

Well I have to RUN to the quilt shop in town, but I just got the MOST ADORABLE minnie shirred fabric(at Joanns)...you know the stuff that's already hemmed and all... I HATED to pay $0.50 an inch (I could've bought her a dress) but alas thrift is NOT why we sew. But the fabric was so darling I couldn't pass it up. all I have to do is sew the side seam and give it some straps VOILA! I should be able to get THAT done tonight. WOO HOO! The prospect of a finished project is too exciting. Even if I did cheat!

...t.

Eww behind the track! That would drive me nuts! My entire family are huge race fans and I even told my daughter we will be sticking it out here for the next two weeks. She wanted to go to the festival in uptown next weekend and I said no way! She's just trying to figure out how to get closer to Kasey Kahne!:lovestruc Funny kid...can't figure out he's a little to old for her!:lmao: But, no, I would be like you...but we may get a taste of it sooner than later...they are building a road course up here in Spencer....more traffic on the scary Yadkin River Bridge!:scared1:

they do need to fix that bridge. It is soooo scary. Traffic slows down by over 15 mph when approaching! And then if you have a truck next to you :scared1:

I love the idea of the belt. I think once you get the belt done, add some red ribbons to her hair and it will be too cute! I love the idea of this, I think I will make Parker something like this -- she was Dorothy for Halloween when one year.

I think a gingham belt would look GREAT! I love the dorothy! She is one of my favorites! I went as her for halloween a few years back and even made my Ruby with, tacky glue and red glitter....It was a long process and I loved them.
