I'm going to be on a 7-night this fall with friends and am looking for feedback regarding the Wine Packages.

Looking for folks who have done it, or found alternatives and the pros and cons of each.

Thanks!

Highly recommended!:thumbsup2 I do it on every cruise though don't do the "premium" package I do the lower priced one. Based on my limited wine experience the premimum package isn't worth the extra dollars. I do enjoy my wine! If you decide to bring your own I'm not sure if they will open it for you or charge you a corking fee. But you can always open your own in your room and bring a glass to dinner!:rolleyes1

We loved it, and highly recommend it!

We don't really have any particular "favorite wine", so being able to pick from a selection each night, depending on what was being served was great for us.Much easier then carting a whole bunch of bottles on board....we had so much luggage!

Yes, it is much more expensive then bringing your own ( the regular package works out to be about $30.00 a bottle-all taxes and tip included).
Compared to what we would pay in a restaurant here in Canada, that's not to bad.

IAN, IAN, IAN,
you should just have your personal Wine Sommelier, pick 7 or 8 bottles for you and have them at the hotel the night before your cruise in a soft sided ice chest!!

We just need to buy BIG glasses :lmao::lmao: (I'm not walking back to the room for a refill :rotfl:)

Karl,

Are you offering to be my sommelier? I know you know about wines, I on the other hand am ashamed to say I know nothing. I wish I did. It's a glaring hole in my education. Even worse, I have on of the permier wine merchants in the city around the corner.

I wonder if for a dolt like me, the package is a good option. I'm determined to catch up on my wine drinking on the cruise. I've neglected it for too long!

I believe I DO remember you guys carrying around the goblets. Where would one go about purchasing those said goblets?? ;)

ian hope you and suki are well to start with.

go to the wine merchant and tell them what kind of wine you have liked.. if you spend more than $50 a bottle, paying the corkage is palatable ( because of the 400% mark up if you bought it on board) and you can each carry about 3 or 4 bottles in your suit cases......

I know I can get a bottle of Norton's Malbec wine for about $6-7 (part of the Premier pkg on board).

There are both Cost Plus and World Market here in Chicago. We're very up-to-date.

There's a store near the Florida Mall too so I could always go buy some if that's the route we take.

the package sounds like a good deal if your not going to be buying wine the retails for more than about $40. otherwise i would bring my own( o wait that's what i do)
